Positives of this timer:
+ Takes three-prong outlets (the timers my local hardware store had in stock worked only with two-prong outlets, which is OK for lamps but not appliances)
+ Has two outlets (both are cycled on and off by the timer)
+ Is adjustable in fine (15 minute) increments,
+ Uses built-in timer stops, which is much more convenient than timers that require you to stick in "pins" for each on/off setting and allows cycling on and off every 15 minutes if desired
So why only 3 stars? There's one big disadvantage of this timer:
Noisy. After a few days of use, it starting producing a very noticeable ticking sound. Not a big deal during the daytime, but annoying loud at night. No worse than a ticking alarm clock, but I haven't had a ticking alarm clock for 40 years. I eventually resorted to unplugging the timer at night, but then I had to reinitialize it each morning.
Bottom line: An good timer with excellent functionality. Perfect for a downstairs room, but the loud ticking is a problem if you want to use it in a bedroom.
Update, January 20: After a month or two of use, the timer stopped making the loud ticking sound. It's been working quietly now for a week or two. I'm not sure whether the ticking will return (in which case I'll update this review again), or whether something just needed to work itself out (which I guess is possible, as this is a mechanical rather than a digital device). In any case, it's working fine now.

Most timers are bulky and thus turn a standard two-outlet receptacle into a single outlet. Those few timers that offer dual outlets are generally impractical often with their own cord and mounting requirements that border on the ridiculous. This timer offers dual outlets and plugs directly into the receptacle for a more streamlined look.Directions that come with this are in French or Spanish only. Go figure. But it's easiest enough to set. Turn the dial clockwise until the arrow lines up with whatever time of day it happens to be. Then locate the position on the dial where you want the lights to turn on and just push the pins out until you reach the time you want the light to turn off.
Works as advertised. Turns things off an on. Looks much nicer than any other dual outlet timer I've found.
