November 2010: Terrific value light bulbs. In August 2006 I bought 10 HALCO 9127 bulbs online, and they have lasted a LONG TIME, at least two years each. 40 Watt R16 Long Neck Reflector Flood 130 Volt 3000 Life Hours Medium Base Appliance and Ceiling Fan Bulb Halco 9127We use them as spots in our kitchen and as a dual spot reading light above our bed. They are much brighter than a standard 40w 2" diameter appliance bulb, which can be found cheaper. One reason the HALCOs may last so long is that they are 130V instead of 120V. Their greater voltage technically means they'll burn very slightly less bright than a 120V R16 40w bulb, like the SATCO, but as a practical matter we can't tell the difference. So we just bought 8 more HALCO bulbs on Amazon for $2 each plus about $5.50 shipping. I have a preference to buy from our local hardware store as a rule, and would have happily spent a little more to purchase their SATCO R16 40w bulbs at $2.50 each, see Satco 40 Watt Incadescent Med Base R16 Light Bulb 40R16 model number S4702-SAT EXCEPT for the fact that the SATCO's are rated as 1,500 hour bulbs, whereas the HALCO 9127 is rated as a 3,000 hour bulb. So in effect I would have had to buy twice as many bulbs at the hardware store to equal the HALCO bulb life.Best Halco 09127 - 40R16/FL - 40 Watt R16 Incandescent Flood Light Bulb Deals

I bought 12 of these bulbs and read that the 130v bulbs when run on a 120v fixture essentially is undervolting the light and extending it's life...I FULLY believe this now. Since I bought these bulbs NONE of them have needed replacing. The GE et al bulbs all blow in about 6 weeks.
