After using The Siege daily for several months, I've not run into a single problem. One of the most impressive design features of The Siege is the ease with which one can replace the batteries. While some competing lanterns have awkward battery replacement systems, battery change-out on The Siege is quick, simple and virtually mistake-proof. Regarding light output, Streamlight's specifications state its cover-removed lantern will provide 340 lumens in high for thirty hours and 33 lumens in low mode for up to 12 days; this makes The Siege a fine choice for emergency lighting situations. I also utilize The Siege's optional red-beacon mode at night after my eyes have adjusted to the darkness and consider this a very useful feature. I'm sold on the stylish appearance and rugged build of this lantern, and suggest that The Siege is one of the best designed compact-form lanterns on the market today. Nice product, Streamlight.

I often am complaining about how poorly things are designed. "who thought of this @#%^&# design"? Well NOT with this lantern!! The design is so well thought out I want to meet the designer! It is rugged, small, puts out lots of light (or less if so desired), it's waterproof & floats, it runs "forever " on a set of 3 D batteries, it has a logical switch that allows you to turn it on in white light mode or red light (to save your night vision). can be hung 3 different ways. I can't think of any way to improve it other than lower the price & improve the warranty. Very well thought out.

This little lantern is a marvel of design and functionality. I have several other emergency lights, lanterns, headlamps, etc. but this light will be my number one pick next time the power goes out. My propane lantern is now my backup lantern. Streamlight really nailed this one. Just buy it. You will not regret it.
