We were looking for a solar lamp since we don't feel like paying heavy PG&E bill. We were skeptical before buying as it is an expensive lamp. Bought it anyway and what a product. It even lights on a cloudy or a rainy day.
The lamp light is powerful. We charged the batteries 24 hrs before using it on the lamp.
Our area is really dark at night so the difference is great. We get lot of compliments and neighbor's envy as we have all solar lamps in our front yard. :)
We are using it on our staircase, we used the hardware provided to bolt it to the ground. You don't need additional Screws. We drilled holes before using the bolts. no complains so far.
I decided to write this review now since it is a reliable product and good quality.

I purchased the two/three lanterns directly from Gama Sonic and the battery life were for 12/18 months respectively. The battery pack can only be purchased from Gama Sonic and the brightness of the replaced lights will be 30% less from the original lights. The batteries are expensive and do not always work. I purchased some batteries from Amazon with the correct voltage but the connector is different and modification of the wiring did not work either. The lights are decorative only and will not provide good lighting for activities at night nor can be used as a pathway light. The black finish will not fade (only good quality for this product). The silver cone inside the lantern will fade to a charcoal color. I were very excited about using Solar lights and living in FL provides many sunny days to keep the battery charged but the technology needs more work. These lights are too expensive to work only for 12-18 months and getting replacement batteries to work have been an impossible task. I have replaced the lanterns with electric CF lights that work on a timer. Amazon should not sell these lanterns.
