I just received a couple of these. Order came promptly and was adequately packaged.

The light works very well and has a nice, neutral to slightly cool beam. Single stage only, simple on/off switch with no brightness settings.

The machining is excellent and the adjustable spot works great with the aspheric lens. When fully focused you get a very tight, long throwing square beam (square because the die of the LED is square and the lens projects it onto the target).

The specs for the LED output are wildly off however. This light is nowhere near being capable of producing 7 watts or 300 lumens. I checked the current draw with fresh 1.5v (1.5amp draw by the circuit) and 3v (.5 amp draw by the circuit) batteries and calculating with those numbers the lights output is about 1.5 watts. I don't have a light meter to measure the actual lumens produced but Crees website for the XRE Q5 LED used in the light lists its maximum output at 1 amp (around 3 watts) at approximately 244 lumens. At the 1.5 watts this light is capable of, its output is more like 130 lumens.

That being said this is still a very well made and very bright light. Well worth the price.

I would have given it 5 stars on the quality of machining and general usability but didn't feel I could because of the unrealistic light output specs.

There are several versions of this flashlight on Amazon at various prices. I bought this one because I wanted it in a hurry, and it was available with Prime shipping. The build quality is acceptable, especially in this price range. The pocket clip was loose, and the threads on the end cap are a bit rough, but an allen wrench and some silicone lube took care of that. The end cap is not knurled so it can be hard to grasp to unscrew, but again, the silicone lube helps there. The light is very bright with an alkaline AA battery, and a bit brighter with a 14500 Li-ion battery. It would not work at all with a Ni-MH battery. The beam adjusts by pulling out the head, from approximately an 8 foot circle at 10 feet, to a 1 foot square spot at 10 feet. When adjusted to the smallest spot, the beam is a square projection of the led itself. The light has a bit of a blueish tinge, but is perfectly acceptable. The flashlight puts out an incredible amount of light in a very small package...you can clip it on the inside of your pants pocket and be barely aware of it. I expect that I will be buying more of them!

I love small flashlights and own quite a few of them. The flashlights in my collection range from the very well made (and pricey) SureFires to the nicely priced and well designed Coast products. Recently I have noticed the proliferation of low priced Chinese made compact lights that promise a lot of focus-able power. Since most of them cost under 10 dollars I ordered three of the most popular models for sale on Amazon and this was one of them.

I like that size of this light, it is small but easy to hold and use. The finish and the machining is quite a bit inferior to my other flashlights but it is not bad considering it's price point. The focusing action is a little loose for my tastes but not awful. I give the overall feel and appearance of this product 3 stars.

The first thing that I was curious about was the light's 300LM rating. Although I believe it to be over-rated in this department it is a very bright torch. One of the ways that these new budget-priced flashlights boost their output is that they hyper-focus past the point where the light is a nice, slightly fuzzy circle, to where the LED itself is in sharp focus. You can actually see the shape and lines of the square-ish CREE LED. Since it focuses the light source so critically it is brighter than my Coasts and my SureFires but I don't find the shape of the light to be very pleasing. When focused to the point where the light is still circular it's output is slightly less that my other lights.

If I hadn't bought some other lights in this price range I would be very impressed with this product. However, I also bought the Cybertech 3 Watt LED Flashlight with Advance Focus System and like it MUCH better. It is a little bigger but, in my opinion, it blows this model away in finish, feel and ease of use. I gave this one to a neighbor and will be buying more of the Cybertechs for Christmas gifts.

I have several high-output flashlights, and this one isn't even in the ballpark of 300 lumens. Maybe 90 at the outside. Probably should have expected that given that it's running off a AA battery.

Also note that the focusing ring is push-pull, so one-handed operation inevitably pulls the focus back to wide.

Overall not a bad flashlight, but not good either, and certainly not as advertised.

I have purchased several brands of LED flashlights over the past 6 months. I have fallen in love with hi-lumen models which use one of the 3.7v lithium rechargeable batteries rather than AA or AAA alkaline batteries. More power to start with and lasts longer between charges, especially in view of the fact that higher lumen torches pull more energy from the batteries than old-style flashlights or low lumen flashlights... My wife has accused me of having a flashlight fettish.... The truth is that CREE and other LED manufacturers keep coming up with higher lumen LED chips, in smaller packages, and with multiple, electronically controlled features.... Ergo, you gotta keep buying newer ones to get the new technology.... For the price and the features, you won't be disappointed in the 7W 300LM Min CREE LED Flashlight.
