This light works very well on my Dell laptop. It has nice bright LED's, rubberized grips on the clip and is very compact for traveling or storing.
Cons: The retractable cord is a nice feature but the cord is a little short. My USB slot is mid way down the side (directly across from the "A" key and to have the light almost in the middle of the lid when opened requires me to stretch it to full capacity very tightly.
To give this item 5 stars, they would need to add about 3 inches to cord for flexibility.
I would not recommend this item to anyone with a large monitor on their laptop unless you have an accessible USB port in back, not on the sides.
Thanks!

Pros:Gives off plenty of light, even for a 17" laptop
Compact folding design is very nice.
Don't have to deal with an awkward "snake light" getting in the way.
Good price.
Cons:
This device attaches to your laptop screen like a "chip clip" (plastic clip for keeping potato chip bags closed). It is not get a very good hold on my dell inspiron 1720, which has a rounded lid. You can get it to stay on, but you have to mess with it a bit.
No way to choose your color (at least I couldn't when I ordered it. I wanted pink for my wife, but I got grey.)
Bottom line: It's a good light.

My backlighting on my laptop keyboard died after a bios update so I tried a few different USB LED lights. This Dorcy light has 5 LEDs and works better than the single LED gooseneck usb light. Not only does it have 5 lights but it can tilt and adjust when clipped on so you can aim it to suit.Honest reviews on Dorcy 41-1425 5MM LED Laptop Light with USB Retractable Adaptor
I have this & like it. My preference is to work in the dark, but difficulty seeing keyboard legends necessitates having some small light nearby. This light works well for that. Its rubberized dual grips position it well on my 17" laptop and presents no danger of marring the laptop's finish even if abruptly knocked off.
It runs a little hot [Surprise!] so just a little care is needed when grasping it to remove from the lid before closing.
NOTE: Amazon Product Description states:
"Easy push button switch and a retractable cord. . . ."
BE ADVISED: There is NO POWER SWITCH. The little black button shown in several photographs is the trigger to activate USB cord retraction spring. If you want the light "OFF" for any reason (while your laptop is still "ON") it is necessary to UNplug the USB cable.
No matter how I adjust the light on my 17" laptop there is still some light thrown directly toward my eyeballs. I am contemplating how I want to handle that. I will probably use Frog tape to protect all but the offending sliver of the lens and cover that sliver with black paint. I know that seems a mite persnickety, but when working in an otherwise totally dark room a little sliver of light can be annoying.
This thing is lightweight, streamlined when close, easy to pack, and doesn't need any wrapper or pouch for protection.
If I lost this one, or it grew legs, I'd get another, immediately, without any hesitation.
