Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This bottle cooler gets 5 stars based on it's quality, innovation and form. The cooler keeps wine chilled, and the ice in the bucket doesn't leave much or any condensation around the bucket. I didn't notice any sweating on the outside of the bucket, and even though the inside of the bucket was cold, the bucket itself on the outside was not too chilly to pick up. It's double insulated, and does a great job of keeping everything cold.

When you first receive it, you have to charge it up for 12 hours to get the battery fully charged and it can work for up to 10 hours on a single charge. It charges via wall outlet, and you simply place the bucket on the charging base. Nothing to snap in or connect, just set it and forget it on the stand to charge. You can use it while it is plugged in also. The controls are flush with the bucket, and you simply put your finger on the controls to choose your settings. Hand washing is recommend, and it CANNOT go in the dishwasher!!!

It's nice to have on the deck out in nice weather. I had it giving off a nice romantic light out back, while illuminating the wine and ice cubes. It has a center white LED to illuminate your wine, and multiple brightness settings. You can also set the white led to pulsate, or stay steady. You can also shut off the white middle LED if you choose. It also has 8 colored LEDS which can create a ton of other colors. You can also adjust the speed in which you want the color LEDs to change, or stop it at a particular color if you want. The LEDs barely emit any heat so no worries about the lights melting the ice cubes. This is one impressive "ice bucket".

Philips is the leader in these lighting style home products and most will complain about the price, but the technology is not cheap. This is definitely a "luxury" item, and if you have about $200 sitting around not knowing what to do with it, I would suggest you pick this up. The device does what it is supposed to do. It is elegantly shaped, and executed well. My favorite part about the device is the long battery life and the ease of charging.

Full disclosure, I received this from Amazon Vine, but if I had to pay $200 for it, I probably would not consider it. I give it 5 stars because it does everything it says it does, and has no flaws to me. Pricing is not considered a "flaw" in my opinion (since I am rating the product itself, and not the feasibility of the item), and did not affect my rating of the item. I absolutely love it though and it is a great conversation piece, especially at parties. Not too many people you know in life will have one of these in their homes. It is an exclusive item to own.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I'll get the obvious out of the way right up front and admit that this device is "pricey". But I'll leave the value call to the potential buyer and not factor a penalty into my review. That said . . . .

This is a quality product, typical of Philips. It delivers just as advertised.

Nice looking double-insulated clear shell with generous interior space to accommodate one bottle of wine with plenty of ice. Uses LED technology to provide white or colored accent lighting in the cooler shell. Battery life will exceed the duration of your party and is rechargeable on the charger base. Near infinite choice of colors, including a loop option for scrolling through the color spectrum. Also light intensity selection. Use indoor/outdoor. By the nature of this display, it of course works best with a white or even a blush wine.

I suppose in addition to price, there is one other drawback -alas, this gadget is yet ANOTHER charger/base to plug in (don't we have enough of them?). But the power must come from somewhere.

A high end novelty that adds a ccol touch of taste and class (in my opinion) to a dinner party, wedding, or just pampering yourself.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Packaging:

Usual box, egg carton, plastic bag. Comes with the rechargeable/plug-in plate (plug is always attached to plate) & basic 5 page paper print out manual.

Cooler:

Nice size, the plastic is very thick & clear, nice hefty weight to it with a rubberized ring on the bottom so it won't slide on surfaces.

The colored 8? LEDS are actually on the top under the silver rim & shines down in between the two layers of plastic & go through a cycle of both vivid & pastel as it goes through rainbow order.

The whole diameter is 8 inches from outer rim to outer rim, but only a 6 inch opening in the inside of the cooler.

The cooler sits on the rechargeable plate easily with a indentation on the underside of the cooler to sit on top of the bump in the plate.

The middle white LED lights are contained in a two inch tall bump in the middle of the inside of the cooler.

There are 3 touch sensitive buttons: (1) power on/off, (2) colored lights modes & (3) the middle white lights modes.

Manual Information (in same order of manual with my way of shortening the info):

Basics/Charge:

Don't get the charger plate/adapter wet.

The Cooler & charger base are NOT dishwasher-proof.

Use, charge & store the appliances at the temperature of between 5ºC & 35ºC.

The blue LED light (by the buttons on the bottom) indicate the Cooler is charging. If the blue LED is turned off, it is fully charged. The cooler will run up to 12 hours.

On first use, it takes 12 hrs to fully charge the battery & 10 hrs for subsequent charges.

Using your Cooler:

You have the choice of more then 300 intense & pastel colors & two color changing modes (though hard to tell by eye if tehre really is 300).

When you select a mode, the blue LED will flash to let you know it received the input.

The color changing button has both a slow & fast changing modes & a static color mode & the color choice will remain in memory even after you turn off the cooler.

The white LEDs can be turned on/dim, medium, bright, pulse & off.

Cleaning:

"The Cooler can be safely cleaned under teh TAP."

Use a damp cloth to wipe the surface of the charger base. (Unplug it first of course.)

Do NOT clean the Cooler or charger base in the dishwasher.

Guarantee:

Philips guarantees this for two years.

What I don't like:

The colors choice aren't very bright, it's definitely a muted accent light. Even on a rainy day with curtained windows & the lights off, I expected more light.

When the colors are going through the cycle, on both fast or slow speed, they flickered to the point I couldn't look at it at all. It's a fairly obvious flicker, more prominent on fast which was annoying. I normally can take any strobe lights at parties or on TV no problem & this forced me to look away.

I took off two stars for the low brightness on the colors, the bad flicker & lack of ability to dim or brighten them considering the price.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Every once in a while I drink white wine rather than red, and thought this would be a fun wine cooler. It is the lights are nifty and it's fun to play with the settings. It holds a charge for quite a long time.

I admit that I didn't read the description totally thoroughly before getting it, and I did somehow think it would be self-cooling (obviously, it would be hard to hide a refrigeration system in here, don't know what I was thinking...) So, I was a little confused when it arrived and I realized I'd have to add ice.

Still, the effects are nice, I like that you don't have to leave it plugged in to get the lights, and it's a fun conversation piece, particularly for use in low-light areas. However, I am glad I received it as a promo for review I would not think anyone needs to pay a lot of money for this, as it's purely for entertainment. You can find wine buckets a lot cheaper that do the cooling job just as well. I guess for the person who has everything, this would make a fun addition to a home bar.
