Malibu cannot be counted on for parts support anymore. Intermatic sold them in 2009, and even though the products I bought have a "Lifetime Warranty", it turns out they were talking about the lifetime of a mayfly...! Not only was Intermatic and the new owners passing the buck back and forth, when I finally reached the new company, they informed me that the part, a glass globe that inexplicably cracked in 3 pieces, was "no longer available". So, you spend good money to buy their so-called "Best" and in 3 years parts are no longer available?
As someone who has used a wide variety of residential grade landscape lighting products, I guarentee that no matter how much you spend, nothing lasts forever you WILL need parts down the road.
Pass on this company, save yourself some grief in the future. (Don't believe me? Try calling their customer service dept at 888-295-7348, but bring a snack...)

I have used nearly a dozen of these (or nearly like them) for ten years and they have held up well except for the poor connectors to the LV cable. However, as I embark on my fourth LV project, I will use higher quality (read: more expensive) brass or bronze products. If you are going to DIY on a LV project, do yourself a favor and research the products and techniques.First, cut and discard the wire-piercing connectors, they are junk. Silicon-sealed splice connectors are the only way to go for direct burial. Ignore the Malibu instructions to daisy-chain the fixtures and learn about spider-splices, loop and tee connections to reduce voltage drop (lights dimmer towards the end of a run). Do not skimp on the transformer, it is the heart of your system and use no less than 12 gauge cable unless your run(s) are very short (25 feet or less).
This research could be dangerous to your wallet, though, as you may find yourself popping for a multi-tap, toroidal-core transformer, 10 gauge cable and a voltmeter! All in all, a decent light for the price if you replace the pierce-type connectors.

it does the job, but it is not built as good as the older model. I don't care for the it connects to the voltage wire.Honest reviews on Malibu 8301-9602-01 20 Watt Flood Lights, Metal
These are great low voltage lights. Metal construction and made with care. I have six of them in the back yard and really think they add a lot!Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Malibu 8301-9602-01 20 Watt Flood Lights, Metal
I was contemplating ordering these because I didn't know if they'd match the 4 lights I already had installed in my front yard to shine up on parts of our home and some of the trees. I decided to do our own landscape lighting instead of paying up to $3000 for professional installation. I went to Lowes and bought a kit with a 200 voltage transformerit also came with 4 20w lights and a 50 ft wire. I eventually bought a 100ft wire and attached the 2 together to reach all of the front of our home. The company that makes these lights seem to only provide to Lowes because I could not find them online anywhere. What was also annoying was that they did not provide more of the same lights in single packs! So after countless trials with other Lowes' landscape lights, I was about to give up and only have half of the house lit. I thought why not just give these Malibu lights a try since I've done everything else, and they looked fairly similar to the ones I have already in the yard! I ordered 2 and they came in 2 days (since I'm eligible for prime) and after fixing them to the wire found that they were a perfect match to the other 4 20w lights I had in my yard! What joy! I ordered 4 more; unfortunately, these are taking longer to arrive, even though they were supposed to have arrived by now! Not happy about that, but it might be cause of the holidays. Also for fyi, I have NEVER done any electrical work and am not a do-it-yourself type of girl, but $240 vs $3000 motivated me enough! And setting up your own landscape lighting was much easier than I thought! Def encourage more people to try it out themselves!
Anyway, the lights are great with great great great output of light! They look so bright and beautiful shining up on our home, and best of all they match the other lights I already had!
Great choice :)
