Most LED solar path lights are pretty dim, a lot less bright than a wired light. These are by far the brightest I have seen for solar, though not quite as bright as most wired path lights. I have had mine a year, and they are still working well (California, so they have been subjected to rain but not to snow or ice), and light up for a reasonably long time (short, cloudy winter days, they still manage to light up for 4-5 hours minimum, much longer in summer).
The stake consists of 3 tubes that fit together, plus a ground spike. You can use the spike alone if you want the light to sit on the ground, or use any combination of the tubes to get the height you want. This is useful if you need to get the light high enough so the solar panel on top gets enough sun. It does light a path more brightly if it is lower, closer to the path.
I would give them 5 stars but they are actually less attractive in person than the photo, perhaps because they are so large. The motion sensor works, but it just seems a bit weird having the lights get bright when you walk towards them. I'd say they are about twice as bright when motion is detected than the rest of the time.
That said, having the light get bright only when you are there probably means a much brighter light when you need it. If it was that bright all the time, it likely would drain the power and not stay on as long.
If you need a bright solar light that you can put anywhere that gets some sun, and you don't care much about looks, this is for you.
As for me, since I already have 4 of these, I am going to order the much cheaper, no motion-sensor version from the same maker (set of 3 for the same price as one of the motion-sensing). I am curious how bright they will be, and how long they will stay lit, compared to these motion-sensing ones.

These have a very low glow, and the motion sensers seem to have begun working very poorly after a few months.
