Putting in the switch was a matter of literally 45 seconds. You cut the existing cord slip in the unstripped ends push two pins down. Presto.
BUT: DON'T BUY IF YOU DON'T HAVE A LAMP WITH SPT-2 CORD.
In other words: Your lamp cord must be of the old-school kind simple two-prong plug, two cables in a flat not round cord. The dimmer cannot be opened. The right (SPT-2) cord will slip into the form-fitted openings. No need to strip the cable. You just push two pins down.
If your cable is different you will be frustrated.

I purchased this switch because my Father has lost his fingers and it seems to be so much easier for him to push the button AND get the amount of light he needs. The dimmer was easy to install.Best Deals for Lutron LC-300NLH-BR Attache 300-watt Single Pole On-Cord Lamp
OK... I have to say this is the easiest dimmer switch you'll EVER install on a cord. Just cut the cord. push about a 1/2 to 3/4 inch of it in both ends. There is a button you press in on the back of this switch which locks the cord in place and penetrates the cord through to the wire. All you do is insert the cord on both sides, press the button which locks in placeand it's done and works great. Very well thought out. My 12 year old niece could install it.
