if you've ever bought a clip-on lamp, you probably learned these lessons:

if the clip is made of plastic, it will break. Don't buy these.

if the switch feels cheap, it probably is cheap, and will break. Avoid those.

you get what you pay for, a lot of these are under $20. They won't last.

This lamp is more expensive than the ones you will find at Wal Mart or Target, but it is a far better product. The switch is sturdy; it actually feels good to turn it on and off, and that's saying something for a clip-on lamp. It looks classy. The clamp is metal. It's a winner.

The spring in the clip could be a bit stronger. When clamped vertically it tends to slip. Otherwise perfect.

This lamp is not only beautiful, but it works well. I did a lot of shopping before buying this one and I'm happy with my purchase. The real glass and sturdy design is a big plus. I'm not sure what the other reviewer was talking about. We simply turned the light on during assembly. The turning it on and off happens automatically when the sun goes down, etc. Why would you go to all the trouble to actually do it yourself every day... Seems silly. Overall, I'd recommend this item to others.

This is probably one of the best solar products I have found. I wanted a yard light, and with the addition of a new patio, I decided an old fashioned lamp post would be the most attractive, and appealing. I searched Ebay, the internet, then finally Amazon. I found this product, and read the reviews.

It may be a little more expensive, but believe me, spend the money, it is well worth it. There is somebody on the reviews that complained about the on-off switch, but who cares, it's SOLAR! Why would you even want to turn it on and off? So, This lamp post is made very well of cast aluminum, and has real glass in it. It is quite tall, and makes a nice addition to any yard. It is constructed well, and goes together easily. Now, how does it work?

Better than expected. It comes on at dusk, and the chrome cone inside intensifies the light. The LED's inside are extremely bright, and this puts out a good 20-30 foot circle of light. It literally stayed on all night, and I mean 8-10 hours easy. It did not fade by morning, it was just as bright. I would highly recommend this, and if I ever need another one, I will by this again.

We paid a little more for this lamp post but it was more than worth the extra cost. The lamp post is well made, well packaged, looks great, and gives a wonderful light. We poured a concrete foundation to make sure that it didn't move. We planted some flowers around it and the neighbors love it. Also, we needed to replace a small o-ring weather seal and the customer service was nice and quick and easy with 2 new o-rings within 2 days. We would recommend it if you are looking for a good quality and good looking and good functioning lamp post. Although we have only had it for about 1 month, we have no reason to expect any issues.

I bought eight of these to replace my incandescent bulbs in my chick brooders. The bulbs are much cooler when lit than the other bulbs, a little bit dimmer but that works for me. The incandescent bulbs only last about three months, these last over 11 years! Plus they save energy. The red bulb is made of plastic, they look like they will last a long time. Great buy!

These LED lights are terrific. If you're looking to convert to LED, an important detail that lots of folks overlook (we initially did) is that the light from LED bulbs (no matter what the package says aboout "warm" or "cool" ratings) is often very different from other bulbs it's much colder even in the bigger name brands (like Phillips). However, this is not true with the Eagle bulbs the light looks exaclty "right" and "true"! A few reviews have noted that the Eagles are slightly larger than other brands true. However, I found that with a liittle patience and care, they fit just fine.

Color temperature is same as a halogen, but has a distinct green tint when measured in Photoshop. This bulb also was the heaviest of a group I am testing, with a fairly substantial heat sink. Unfortunately light output does not compare to 50W halogen. Length will be an issue for some when used in track light fixtures, since it is noticeably longer than a halogen. I am using them in recessed can lights so length is not a problem.

These are advertised as 2700K warm white and dimmable, however the color these bulbs give off isn't warm it's a harsh, greenish, almost fluorescent light that's nowhere near the warm glow you get from a halogen. These bulbs also don't work with all dimmers. I have fairly expensive Lutron digital dimmers (tap once to turn on to preset dimmed setting, double tap to turn on to full brightness, and press and hold for delayed dim to off). I installed these bulbs in a three-bulb fixture and even though the dimmer was off, when I removed the last halogen with two LED replacements already installed, the LED bulbs came on and started flickering rapidly. Same result with the third LED bulb installed, just a little less bright. I bought 5 of these and it was a waste of 75 bucks. They are very bright, certainly equivalent to the 50W halogens, but don't dim at the same rate as the halogens do; the LED bulbs have a rapid drop off at the end they stay bright and then suddenly go off as you progressively move the dimmer down. I would not recommend these just based on the color, but if you still want to try I would suggest getting just one to see if it's compatible with your dimmer. Lutron does sell LED specific dimmers (with adjustable controllers to 'calibrate' the dimmer to the LED bulbs), but after spending $200 on new dimmers already, I don't want to have to replace them again with even more expensive types. GU10 fitting, size, and build quality are good.

This LED Candelabra bulb gives off a pleasant soft warm (yellow/white) light, from a standard looking glass bulb. I would estimate it's equivelant to a 5 watt standard bulb. The LED's are located along an interior post and therefore the light eminates along the length of that post, as opposed to a single filament in a standard bulb. Definitely worth considering if you are looking for a low wattage bulb.

my FJ cruiser doesn't have a map light so i added two of these to the visors. they work nicely and the light is easily aimed where you need it. they can be folded up out of the way when not in use. a good choice for some extra light!

I paid $12.71 for this light. It is worth about $1.27. It is small and made of all plastic. You have to disassemble the case to replace the batteries. The ball joint about which the light pivots is so loose it would NOT hold the light in place. Seriously look elsewhere.

Semi-retired guy with a few vending machines to help supplement meager income. Vending machines have fluorescent lamps that are a little different size than what is easily available. I never expected to spend this much on a lamp, but I needed a good reading lamp, so I bit the bullet! I'm pretty pleased with what I got. Will be using it very very heavily in the near future, so I'll be posting an update in a few months.

Pros

=====

-The 3 color settings are very handy, especially since it's hard to gauge exactly what color temp a lamp will be just by looking at a number (unless you're very good at that ;) ) The warm setting was actually pretty good, as I didn't expect much coming from a LED lamp. The 3 intensity settings were handy too! I'm glad I went for the multi-temp one over the other 4300 model.

-Well-built. Some parts are plastic, but it's not a huge deal, as everything seems very sturdy. The manual does say that the lamp CAN get loose with a lot of adjusting, but you can use a quarter to tighten the screws on the hinges.

-Easy on the eyes! My eyes didn't get too tired while reading with the lamp, which is great. I haven't done anything intense yet, but I'll be doing maybe 8-hour sessions in the future. Will update with results when I get a chance.

Cons

====

-Price. I'm not sure if the lamp is really worth $110. Then again, you can find similar LED lamps around the price range too, so I guess that's normal. Even so, I wasn't completely blown away by the product. If I had my way, I'd probably pay around $80-90 for the unit.

Side notes

====

-The lamp will not illuminate a huge area. It's plenty large enough for reading several textbooks, or even illuminating your bed if you have this on a nightstand, which is fine since this is a desk lamp. If you want to illuminate a small room, you'll need to supplement this with a regular room lamp.

-The maximum brightness level on the coldest temp still isn't as bright as other lamps I've seen, but it's sufficient for my needs. The light output is in the description, but I honestly can't turn that number into something useful, so I'm not downrating the lamp for this. I'll likely have it on with a regular room light anyways, and I'm mostly glad I didn't get a lamp that was so horribly blinding...to the point where the light bouncing off the page would make my eyes hurt. So this was good. ;)

-Make sure you take note of the dimensions if you're worried about size. The lamp was a little larger than expected, judging from photos alone, but that was no big deal for me.

-The upper part of the lamp does swivel sideways a little bit.

-The anti-glare filter does seem to cut glare, but don't expect your textbooks to be glare free. ;D

I knew it was supposed to be small but I had no idea. I've owned flashlights larger than this lantern. As the previous reviewer said, it's almost small enough to fit in a pocket. Wearing cargo pants or shorts? It'll easily fit in a side pocket. The green LED on the front of the lantern that flashes every five seconds makes it easy to find, even in the dark. It provides enough light to read by and play games and by turning the small knob it becomes a decent flashlight. At 185 lumens it's nearly as bright as some of the larger lanterns I've seen. It's pretty lightweight but at the same time feels like it'll be a durable light to take camping.

Cons -

The only thing that I didn't like much is the flashlight is not focused at all. It gives near 180 degrees of light which illuminates everything around you quite nicely but makes searching past 5-10' more difficult than with a regular led flashlight.

Pros -

The lantern aspect of this product is amazing, very bright and it illuminates a large area easily even on the low setting.

It's a good size.

So I have a couple of issues with this light. It says it is remote controlled, but the remote only changes the light setting from high to low, and you can not turn the light off with the remote. The on/off switch is inside the glass cover so you need to remove the cover to be able to even use the switch. It does have a light sensor and comes on at dark, but the battery life doesn't seem to be very good. I have it installed in a gazebo with the solar panel on top of the roof in the full sun and I seem to only get about 3-4 hours of light even on the low setting. I believe the box said it would last for 8 hours.

I bought this light not having and electricity out in my newly built shed. I got the light and read all the instructions, prepared myself for the installation. That was easy! Installation took about 15 minutes and it was charged and ready to go the very next day. And it has been working well ever since! The remote is a nice touchbut FYI you can't just press the button and have it work, you do have to point the remote at the unit to get it to work. No big deal though. I shortened the chain because I was going to smack my head on it if I didn't. It was surprisingly bright at night and for a solar light, served it purpose well! I would most defiantly recommend this product to anyone who needs some light in a place where electricity is not possible. And for the priceI think it was a good value! Thanks Amazon!

I've been buying these lights direct from china for $12 before. This is the same awesome thing, for $2 less and delivered next day.

The description is slightly inaccurate: these do come with one battery, but they have two battery slots. The one battery is actually 800mAh, not 600 as the description says. So, my existing lights have two 1200mAh batteries and can last for two nights after a full day charge and a cloudy day, for instance. These lights are also great in that they can charge NiMH batteries and you are not stuck with NiCd ones that generally don't offer more than 800-1000mAh.

So, I put two decent batteries in each and am totally happy.

Other than that, this is not an exterior lighting solution, this is an accent light, although on my house with white siding the three of these lights illuminate a pathway at night so you can see it, but don't expect these to be a streetlight replacement.

Beware of cheap imitations, too -there is a ton of gutter lights on amazon that are total crap when they work and they stop working after a couple of months. A set of these has survived outer bands of a hurricane last fall and they just keep working. No water issues, no adjustment issues, no problem at all.

It works. But it's not very bright. I put on the gutter above my front door so that i can see my front door key when I came home from work. I like the fact that I don't have to waste electricity by leaving my porch light on all day. And those sockets that have a scensor in them are to long for the globe that attaches to my porch light. So I like this. Looks like I may need one or two more.
