I am an engineer who has been completely disgusted with the home lighting situation. There are no standards and many misstatements and counterdictions at the stores. I own a Minolta flash meter which accurately measures a lights color temperature. I've tried the bulb technology at Walmart, Sams Club Home Depot and Lowes. The most glaring examples:

1) yellow light is called soft white (2700)

2) very blue light is called daylight 6000-6500)

3) 12W LED lights go for as much as $90!

4) Some bulbs are advertised as white but the chart on the back shows its yellow. Complete incompetence.

Here is not what to avoid: all (harsh washed-out blue) daylight, and (yellow) soft white. While GE Reveal offers somewhat better clarity its still overpriced and quite yellow.

Full spectrum (5000-5500) bulbs are a step-up but stores offer a very limited selection. The Home Depot full 100w spectrum's beats the Lowe's Ot-Lite. The best compromise are the PAR38 indoor 23-27w 3500K reflector lights (which actually measure 4100K) especially for kitchen spot lighting.

On the LED front Sam's Club carries a 520 lumen, 4100K, 9 LED PAR38 reflector which has a easily noticeable smoother light spectrum. Great for the one light on in the kitchen in the evening. The equivalent $70 LED lights at the hardware store are hardly a bargain, as the Sam's is $20! However its Color Retention index (CRI)is only 74.

The best of all are lights are these 5500K Alzo's. I've installed a 45w in the kitchen pantry and the color of the food boxes really pop. Food looks like it does in the magazines. The clarity is first rate (however 27w should be sufficient). They are the reference to which others are to be compared. My wife has not complained even when they are on at night-time. This is a first.

Skin tones in the bathroom look very natural. A first again.

Color temperature alone is not the sole basis to buy a bulb as a high CRI is also required. The Alzo's come in at 92, which is very high. Most manufactures do not even list this measurable figure (assume because its too low).

Well gotta go as my wife wants one in her closet now, as shes hates the other fluorescent lights which cause eye-strain.Should I install a 45w and blow her away?

They came individually packaged extremely well. I had problems in the past with the screw base of CFL's not going deep enough in the socket. I have a variety of fixtures I needed these to fit in and so far, no problem, after they warm up (about 5 minutes in extreme cold). These have saved me a lot of money even from the start. I am lighting my shop with them instead of tube lights and fixtures. I am installing them 5 feet on center and the coverage is great. The daylight color reflects great off the white ceiling. For this purpose they work better for me than the warm color CFL's. They are brighter than a 100 watt bulb, very little shadowing on my projects.

Eiko Bulb #93 Review

Unfortunately, all #93 bulbs are not the same. Their specifications in Watts, Amps, and Operating Voltages vary quite a bit. My application is an older, small frame, high intensity lamp with high and low settings. When I tried replacing the original bulb, I found the base unit that houses the electronics was over heating and emitting a burning smell. Upon further investigation, the correct specifications for this high intensity lamp's bulb were found. Now the search for the correct bulb began. I found a few at $5 to $7.50 each, then this one at Amazon for a dollar each. So I bought 3 of them plus Shipping for a total of $5.70. The specs are: 13.31 Watts, 1.04 Amps, and 12.80 Volts. What you would envision as a simple task turned out to be quite complex and frustrating at times. I am glad it is over. My lamp functions properly and I have two additional spare bulbs.

For those needing a bulb for their old Tensor lamps They use an automotive bulb go to an auto parts store not the bulb isle at the hardware/dept. store. Any decent auto parts store should have the bulb you need. If you are concerned about overtaxing the transformer in the base a #93 is basically 1.0 1.1 amp. so as long as the bulb you are given is not 1.6 or 2.1 amp (these are the more "modern" ones) you will be perfectly fine. For example 14 watts/13 volts = 1.08 amp. So if the single bayonet mount bulb you are given is rated in the range of 12 14v and 12 14w you will be fine.

I bought this light from local Walmart for $14.96 plus tax. It is bright enough to illuminate any wardrobe, closet or pantry or any other such often poorly illuminated corner of homes. It is well built and can be mounted with included stickers or screws. The package even comes with a double marked paper that will guarantee problem free installation. The best part is that the included remote uses IR sensor and can be placed virtually anywhere in the room.

The light can be installed with screws but the remote comes with only adhesive Velcro strips. The lights work fine, decent light but non directional. A problem with having several is that they are all on the same frequency so some of the others will turn on too. This is a pain because you have to figure out how to get them all off again to avoid eating batteries. They don't always get the signals so I wind up resetting the lights by the manual switch on the side.

I have used Princeton Tec lights since they were Princeton Tectonics. Nearly all have had problems. Yes, customer service will replace your defective light. No, the one they send will not always work. This light seems great at first. It's bright, with a well-focused beam. It feels solid. However, things go downhill from there.

Problem 1: it eats batteries, something an LED should not do. Uses 8 cells, and this is excessive. Better Cree emitters out there that consume less power and generate less heat.

Second problem: "Lockable" on/off switch has a habit of unlocking and turning itself on in a dive bag, BC, a pocket, or in a car box. Unacceptable. This flimsy switch is the worst I have seen on any Princeton light, and there's nothing worse than reaching for a light and having it be dead. A gloved hand will be unable to lock the switch, not that it matters much.

Problem 3: Unreliable lighting. This is the worst, and potentially most dangerous. On three (3) dives, the original (2x) and its replacement (1X) failed, compromising dive and forcing me to rely on backup. No explanation from the company as to why this would occur, and the 3rd one I just received back from them will be sold, in the package, on Ebay.

I am am professional user. Need lights to work. Princeton quality has never been great, but it seems to be getting worse. Their lights are economical, but who cares when they don't work. Staying with UK for my "has to work" lighting.

From the look of it, it's impossible to tell that this light is the new model. From the outside it looks exactly the same as the old 47 lumen model. A call to Princeton Tec cleared it up quickly though and I suggest you do the same if you have any question. I'd like to compare the output to the older model directly, but so far, haven't had a chance to do so.

This light is great underwater. I've been waiting to do this review until I got a night dive in, and last weekend I did just that. The beam is narrow, focused and powerful so it's easy to spot distant objects without much back scatter. The color temperature is perfect too with a bright white that doesn't distort natural colors. I've been using this light for the last 6 or so dives and so far there has been no discernible dimming over the 5 or so hours of use. I use it as a primary, but if you want something that really lights up the underwater, then you'd probably want to go with something more powerful like the new miniwave or even the shockwave. A buddy of mine dives with the LED miniwave and it's noticeably more powerful.

No leaks, the switch is easy to use (and lock) and its small enough to travel with. Also, Princeton Tec stands 100% behind their products I speak from experience. This is a great light from a great company.

Dove with this light several times to 80 feet. Absolutely no problems with leaks or condensation. This LED light was a replacement for an earlier Princeton "filament-based" dive light. In a direct comparison, the LED was easily about 80% as bright as the filament light at 50 feet down. At this depth, the LED was noticably "whiter", giving somewhat better reef color. The filament light was prone to burn-outs (filament breakage) during use no worries with the LED.

I received the main body, a tube, and end cap. all put together I can fit 3 18650s and the light is excellent. super bright with all the other flashing bells and whistles. but, it doesn't look like you can use 2 18650s. without the tube and just the cap it's too long for 1 18650 and too short for 2 18650s. SORRY, just checked again, the tube splits in half, so you CAN use 2 18650s. even with just 2, it's super bright. So it comes with the main body, 2 tubes already put together, and the end cap. also a good weapon, very solid. switch also feels good. you press it with a solid click to turn on and off. tap it lightly to cycle between functions. looks like it has 3 brightness levels, a fast flash and a slow flash. I have nothing to measure the brightness, and although I've owned a few, I probably haven't seen a large variety, but it's the brightest I've ever seen so far. btw, tested with ultra fire 3000mah, protected 18650s. great deal, you can't go wrong at this price.

If I can post a photo or two, I will.

The beam is circular and the circle is five feet diameter at 10 feet away. At two feet distance held next to my 900 lumen single beam flashlight, the intensity is noticeably brighter (no way to measure), but is probably close to 3000 lumen.

No instructions are included (I know, you're thinking: It's just a flashlight), but there's a specific way you have to turn it on and change modes:

1) To turn it on or off takes one purposeful click of the switch until fully depressed and released.

2) To change modes, just lightly tap the power switch. The mistake I kept making was turning it on and off and it wouldn't change modes, making me think it's broken and stuck in SOS mode.

*the star off is for the un-focusable wide dispersion beam not being mentioned in the item description, otherwise it's a beautiful instrument that's well built and should last for years. Add another flashlight to my pile of "yup, there it is" LED flashlights.

I have tried many battery operated candles at different stores and returned them all. They were all fake looking glows.

This is the first set I bought on Amazon. They are absolutely great!!! They light/flicker is realistic and the candles are real wax. They do take 4 double A's which is a lot, but they really work!!

The only thing to note is that they have a yellow orange bulb thing over the light to give it a realistic color of the glow. . .but I use my in places people can't see down inside, so that's okay. All in all I LOVE THEM!

I have seen or purchased other battery-operated candles before, and never felt truly satisfied with the imitation/performance/appearance. This is the first candle that I felt was "the one" . . . now the "problem" is, I want several more! I want it in other colors! As mentioned in another review, I would simply recommend that it not be placed in a position where guests will look "down into it," as of course, they would see it's not a real candle. But the lighting mechanism is improved from others I have seen, and at least with the burgundy colored candle, it doesn't look fake when it's lit. I can't comment on other colors thusfar. But prior to this one, I had another (i.e., made by another company) that had a light (flame) that was so yellowish, it just didn't look at all real when turned on. I have a feeling that the darker color helps because I had one that was an ivory color (again, made by a different company, not Enjoy Lighting), and the ivory color in particular allowed the overly-yellow-gold color to be more readily seen through the wax of the candle. So, it just lent itself to a more "fake" look. But this one does look far more real. The lighting mechanism is improved from a prior one I had, too, because the lights are encased in a dome-shaped plastic that gives it a more "lit" feel. I really love it and am presently devising other places where I can put them! Can't say enough, love the way it looks and the smell! The best one I've seen yet!

The light is provided by a little nest of LED lights, that flicker by moving the bright point around, so that the light they cast e.g. on the wall moves and flickers just like the real thing. This is a great replacement candle for real burning candles. The light is actually low in the top of the candle so it looks so real. There are two lighting switches low and high. It feels like an actual wax pillar candle. The main reason I bought this was because I was worried about the open flame of candles. I live in Florida where there are a lot of bugs, especially in the Summer months. Thesse bulbs were adrertized to last 10,000 hours and not attract bugs. These bulbs attract a lot of Florida bugs! I had it installed in a fixture over my front entrance. The light was on most nights for 6-8 hours. The light output was satisfactory but attracted a lot of bugs. I had to constantly clean the bugs off the fixture and the area around the fixture in the ceiling. These bulb don't last anywhere near the 10,000 hours that they are advertised to last either. I wouldn't bother wasting my money again to buy these bulbs.

We changed out our old CFL on our front porch because there was just a cloud of bugs around it in the evenings. After we installed this, they are virtually all gone. There are still a couple around, but they are stragglers and don't seem to be hovering around the light. We live in the Pacific Northwest if that makes any difference, as some reviewers have said it doesn't work so well for them. Might be the area they live, but it works great for us!

These lights produce a clear, brilliant light that falls off quickly because it isn't a white light. We live out in the country and do not want to disturb our neighbor's stargazing, so having a non-white light is important to us. For city dwellers, light pollution is a natural part of city life, but living in the country allows us the chance to avoid light pollution and have a chance to stargaze out the window from bed -a delectable luxury. A white light can be seen more than one mile away. We want only see any snakes that might be resting next to the porch. I had to return this bulb because it's size prevented it from being installed in a porch fixture. Most existing and new fixtures still use dimensions for a 4.5" or so incandescent bulb. Anything more will not fit. I found a compact fluorescent of 14 watts to fit there. Not much light but it works. There are bulbs available up to around 22 watts in the restrictive size required for most fixtures. My winter bulb is 22 watts and bright as an old 75 bulb.

These lights are different from any other solar light that I've seen during all of my research in finding solar lights to build my "solar light garden." I live in an apartment building on the second floor, with a deck outside the living room. Since I don't have a yard, I decided to create a "garden" with solar lilies, tulips, pansies, cattails, globes, butterflies, dragonflies, and solar fiber optic sprays (which sway in the breeze). Almost every single "stalk" has a bare space of about 6" to 7" between the top of the solar cell and the bottom of the "flower" or globe or butterfly/dragonflies. This grass can be manipulated in the degree of spread and covers that bare space perfectly. I think anybody using garden solar lights would be delighted with the addition of this "grass." (In addition, the shipping service/speed was about as quick -actually, quicker -as anybody could reasonably expect.) It is my understanding this company has just begun using Amazon Marketplace. They possess quality of product and quality of service, so do not, I repeat, do not, let their relatively short period of working through Amazon be a deterrent. They are seemingly a company concerned with customer service, and that is increasingly hard to find in today's modern world.

Easy to wire, quality product. Be aware that the knob has a short shaft, however. In my case, the floor lamp in which I was installing this socket had a decorative housing in which the socket was set, and there was a one or two inch gap between the socket itself and this housing. The lamp manufacturer dealt with this by having a long knob on the existing socket which I was replacing. As a result, I had to construct an extension to the knob on this dimmer socket in order to fit through the lamp housing. If your lamp has a housing around the socket, be aware of the possibility that you will have to similarly fiddle with the knob to this dimmer, or construct an extension as I did.

And the life of the bulb is increased because of it being on a dimmer.

We wanted to replace our bedroom lamps with dimmable sockets. Finding exactly what I wanted was harder than I anticipated. Then I found these, and I was really excited to wire them up. These work well as dimmers, but the casing is a bit flimsy. For the price, I'd expected stronger sockets (like the ones I had to replace!), plus the dimmer knobs fall off often. They snap back on easily enough, but it's not fun to fumble around with a small knob in the dark when all I want to do is go to sleep.

I purchased this dimmer to replace an old dimmer switch that had failed. It installed very easily, and I especially like the fact that it has a definite "click" when you turn the switch all the way to off. Handles bulbs up to 150 watts, so it is great to adjust the amount of lighting from a little mood lighting all the way up to bright reading light.

I purchased three of these units. Two work great, but on one unit, one of the three LEDs failed immediately and about a month later the second LED started flashing continuously (very annoying). I have e-mailed the company for replacement, but from a previous review I understand they make you pay for shipping both ways on a failed unit. I won't buy from a company that makes you pay for their bad product.

I bought 2 of these about 6 months ago 2 weeks ago I had a power outage whole neighborhood. Complete blackness. Neither of these came on they had been working previously (plugged in). I wrote the company turns out it's one guy. He gave no reason. I just don't think it's a quality product when they don't work and light the way. I have a baby and she was taking a bath and I had to get her out in the dark and then fumble around for flashlights. I will be another brand next time.

I bought this light as I wanted a night light to come on automatically with motion, but one that wouldn't come on if it was light outside and, at least initially, this worked perfectly. After about 3 months the motion sensor stopped working and the night light just stays on. I was quite disappointed it as this is a pretty expensive light. Though it's under warranty, I'd have to pay for shipping both ways so I think I'll purchase another brand rather than go thru the inconvenience and cost of sending it in for repair.

Works great. As advertised. Would love it if it had a plug so you would not not take up an outlet, but that is the only complaint. Bright nightlight..Comes on automatically and great with children. Will buy another one!

When this was first bought/installed it worked perfectly. However, after a few months the device would not light until after it was walked past versus previously detecting motion before the device was reached. The idea was to illuminate the hall before completely walking down it. This device no longer does that. I will look for a different brand or/and device.

Very bright, in fact you could call it blinding! Came charged so I could see how it worked the first night. I'm using it to brighten up a dark portion of our private drive. It has a fairly wide beam, about ten feet wide as it shines across the road, but it would be best to light up specific objects like a sculpture. Or you could illuminate a long outdoor stairway. All in all, I'm impressed.

2 days later: the area only gets 4-6 hours of sun, in the afternoon. Light stayed on 2 hours only. Moved it to a sunnier spot, and

after 6 hours of direct sunlight, the spot stayed on for about 3 hours. Not satisfactory. And the website on the instruction sheet is unavailable. The instructions are obviously written in China, so I doubt there will be any warranty backup. Shame on Amazon for offering products like this with an obvious lack of customer support!
