Price for bulbs very reasonable; the pins inserted more easily than the bulbs they replaced and appeared brighter than the old bulbs next to them.

I would recommend this product to any RV-er who is tired of high-priced bulbs that fail quickly, or bulbs that don't work when you get home and install them.

ONLY negative would be the high-priced shipping for a very light-weight package. Shipping brought the per bulb price nearly to the price of the old ones, but not quite

These solar power path lights are surprisingly bright and parts appear to be of great quality. They are a great addition to my front yard. Quality of lights seem to be better than ones that can be found at our local hardware store.

Reading the sole review on this item being 1 star, I was skeptical. But I am tired of buying these other solar lights that are not bright enough so I took a chance on these Sierra lights. I am glad I did. These lights have 3 LEDs inside each of the light shining sideways, so I can get a good 15 feet across on each of the light. Really love the brushed stainless steel on the lights and stakes. Going to buy another set for my front yard.

From my experience, this product is expensive junk. Some arrived damaged and were replaced. After installation

the interior material that supports the solar collector actually melted in the sun. I've been trying to get a complete refund on my credit card charges through the vendor and Amazon. The vendor is being uncooperative in returning my total charges for inferior product. I've been corresponding with them for a month. Ridiculous.

I ordered the light shown but received a screw in flood light bulb! Geez, now I have to figure out what to do and if it's even worth it without ending up doubling my costs.

POST EDIT The vendor made a correction and was sincere in their apology. The return process cost me nothing and was made easy by the vendor. The new light works great, although the cord to the transformer could be a bit longer.

Additional note to viewers the "warm light" is very "brown" and actually looks bad in my opinion (was hoping to get a incandescent tone). I got one of each and have to recommend to pure or cool white like this light has. It's not "blue" like many CFL light bulbs but a very natural light.

This set of lights is exactly what I have been looking for and even at just six lights put out more light the eight of the other incandecent bulbs. A really easy installation when I marked a piece of 1 x 2 wood drilled holes for the bulbs and another for the mounting screw and then cut them out with my table saw. Each light is made to hook to the next one but there is a long cable, I think about 20 included. I have three on one side of my pergola and three on the other and the coverage is complete. Good buy

Review Update: The lights worked great for a week but three of them went out and they are now useless and it seems that there are no replacements. I just got a notice that the return deadline was yesterday. You get what you pay for and this is a poor product.

Installed my lights on some dark staris in my back yard on the 1st. They gave us the perfect light we were looking for. Just enough light for my crippled butt to keep from falling and keep my dog w/ Cataracts from running into the rail. However, on the 3rd the first light in the string quit. There was no rain, temp was 65-80° w/ humidity around 50-70%. Installed perfectly and easily with a gentle push into the hole. Like title states, cheap LED s. However install, appearance, amount of light and even the cheap drill bit (cut 6 holes in treated wood flawlessly) would have been 5/5 stars. Will update if return goes well.

Honest reviews on Paradise GL28106BK6 Low Voltage Cast LED Deck Light Kit, Black

Bought 3 sets of these and put them in my new deck / stairs. Attached them to the power source and 2 of the lights do not work. Should have listened to some of the other reviews where lights don't work and burn out pre-maturely. Contacted the manufacturer via their web site and got an automatic response that someone would be replying within 48 hours, 3 day now and no reply. Now I'm stuck with holes in the deck or buying another set as a spare? If you are looking to buy these I would test the lights before installing them or look at another product from a different manufacturer.

Butterfly Optic Fiber Color Changing Night Light Show - Purple

I was a bit apprehensive ordering this particular nightlight sight unseen but took the chance since I saw such positive reviews for all the other colors offered. This was a wonderful buy!! The switch base is white, the petal base is a purple tone and the butterfly is a beautiful lavender/bluish tone. I was actually very surprised to see a very detailed butterfly "body". The butterfly is "stiffened" by the fact that the fiber optic material is it's base.

Now the butterfly's beauty doesn't end there... When you switch it on you are treated to a wonderful array of beautiful colors that slowly dance. The light fiber optic dance is truly reminiscent of a butterfly or fairy. If you have little girls in your life and need little touches to tie a bedroom together; then this is one of those special touches. At the butterfly's widest wingspan it is about 5.5 inches and the tail end being about 2 inches. Overall in height I would say it is about 9 inches. Please keep in mind that is with the switch base!! It is not large but if you plan on placing it behind a bed or squeezing it where it will not be on display then you will be dissapointed and find it "rather large". It commands attention from the moment you take it out of it's packaging.

Highly recommend for those that love all feminine touches. Your little lady will be very excited as mine were.

I don't know why I bought this. I ran across it on Amazon. It looked like a bit of fun and whimsy. It wasn't that expensive. So I bought one. What a stunningly beautiful night light. As the description says, pictures do not do it justice. The wings light up with alternating vivid colors. The rounded base (globe) pulses with light that generally changes from blue to purple to red. The butterfly detaches rather easily from the globe. It can be swiveled around where it is attached at the very top center of the globe. This will allow you to adjust the position of the butterfly to optimize your viewing angle. I can swivel mine a good 180 degrees without the wings rubbing up against the wall. I have placed it out in the open in my living room where I do my main TV viewing. I leave it on while I am in there even with the TV on. It is not distracting to have it on with the TV. I just love looking over at it from time to time. I will mention that it is a pulsing light. So someone may find it disturbing in a bedroom setting if you plan to leave it on at bedtime. The butterfly body has nice detail to it and is colorful in the daytime. The daylight image here on Amazon is accurate. The night images don't capture how cool looking the light is. I would say the dimensions given here are accurate too so it sticks out from the wall a bit compared to many night lights. This was a pleasant surprise for me when I got this. For goodness sakes, if you get one, put it somewhere you can view it easily and not in some little corner behind furniture. You won't be disappointed.

12/12/11 quick update. I have used this lovely nightlight for a year now and it is going strong and as beautiful as the first day I plugged it in. If you look closely you can even see that the butterfly's antenna have little pinpoints of light at the very end of them. I turn it on almost every night for a few hours.

1/5/13 update *** ADDED PHOTO TO THE GALLERY*** It has been two years, I still use this nightlight. It works like new and as beautiful as ever. Great purchase.

I lot of night lights come with an adjustment to accommodate side-by-side outlets. This one does not. So, I ended up with a really cool sideways butterfly since I do not have vertical outlets. Bummer.

It's very pretty, but the prongs are backwards for my home. The thick prong is on the left, all the plugs in the house have the thick opening on the right so it hangs upside down.

I like this light so much that I am going to buy the pink version of the same design.

This is not your typical night light size, nor, is it your typical night light that we children of the pre-80s grew up with, (i.e. the night light which used C7 Christmas bulbs). Instead, it fully utilizes fiber optic technology in both the lower and upper portions of the device. I thought that it would be a butterfly that was lit via the light below. Instead, I found a gorgeous butterfly outlined in colorful lighting, as well as lit from below.

It is worth your money, truly, to buy this item. Not only will YOU love it, but, I believe that a lot of your friends and family will also have favorable comments regarding this piece because it is something that people will stop to take a look at.

Since the light is so tall, you will need an outlet where there is plenty of room above or below your plug, depending upon the way that you have the butterfly situated...

I'd recommend placing the light in a room such as:

* a female bedroom

* a nursery room (if it were in an out of reach outlet)

* a sun room

* a bathroom

* a home office

* a room with lots of plants/flowers

* and, the like...

I heard about this head lamp from the "This Week in Photography" podcast, and as I'm both a photographer, and kind of a "gadget guy", I put this on my Amazon gift list thinking it might be something I'd use for the specialty purpose of being able to better see my camera while struggling to take time exposure photos in the dark.

BUT, since my daughter got it for me for Christmas, I have been delightfully surprised to find that I FIND IT HELPFUL TO USE IT ALL THE TIME for all sorts of little jobs in dark places, from searching through my closets, cupboards, drawers, tool kits, or for fishing for wires under the desk or behind the PC or entertainment system, or finding or fixing something going bump in the night outside, or under my house, or refilling the windshield washer on a dark winter eve under my hood, to.... well, I USE IT ALL THE TIME. It's an amazingly utilitarian gadget.

Why do I use THIS relatively expensive hands-free-head-light as opposed to the half dozen cheap baseball cap brim lights or much cheaper strap on your head lights I own? Well...

1.) ...this TILTS, so I can adjust it down (along with my eyes), where the WORK IS (usually) without having to tip my whole noggin down.

2.) It has a focus ring to adjust it from a flood light to a tight beam, so as to provide the kind of light that suits the task at hand.

3.) It is adjustable for BRIGHTNESS so I can dim it down or turn it up to full blast, again, to provide light to suit the task.

4.) It's powerful, so that when I turn it up and focus it to a beam, it shoots light for a healthy distance, which is useful for example, for picking up channel markers at night when boating.

5.) It's rechargeable, and you can stick regular batteries in if you aren't near an AC outlet.

I do wish it could be dimmed a little more (for working in complete darkness without detection by wildlife, for example), and/or had a red lens accessory for sail trimming at night without causing night blindness. YES, I DO look ridiculous with this thing on my head, but as a general purpose hands-free work light to keep charged and ready by the door for "grab and go" swing-into-action use, this thing is the ACE.

Simply a great headlamp for travellers. I took this with me on a trip to Brazil's Amazon, Pantanal, and Cerrado earlier this year and it was just awesome. At 150 Lumens, the ability to focus made it much brighter than my 200 Lumens flashlights from Costco. It was great for night time wild life spotting, survived torrential downpours and was easy enough to recharge. Being paranoid, I do carry some alkaline batteries in my pack just in case the included rechargeables run out of juice. Actually I gave the headlamp to my private guide in the Cerrado when leaving Brazil as a tip and bought another one in advance of my coming trip to China/Japan.

I realy like this light. I've looked at other lights but this had the most bang for my buck and had the highest reviews. The light is brighter than I thought it would be and the adjuster works great. I left the light on for a full night to see how long the battery would last and it was still good the next morning. Works great and I use it for more than I thought I would. Bought it for camping but use it for so much more.

I installed 8 of these in my kitchen track lighting in December 2011. They look great and work wonderfully but only dim to 50% brightness and flicker when dimmed to that level. The color of the light was too white for my taste. The solution was to put a yellow plastic "gel filter" in front of each bulb. That made the color the same as normal bulbs. I bought a set of 16 inch square plastic "gels" from Amazon that are used for studio lighting and cut out circles to place in front of the light bulbs. The gels only cost another $10 and I could ad as many layers a I needed to get the desired amount of yellowness to the lighting. Over a year later and I'm still happy.

I like the light weight of this lens, but there is a trade off by not having a metal frame around the lens. Don't let the lens rest on paper when not in use. Rest it on the bag instead. I ordered 4 of these bulbs. They came on time and were packaged well. They are a built-up type and are built very well. I can find nothing like them at this price at any home center. I am using them in my living room and outside my garage. I have called the company for a question and they answered me immediately. They are not dimmable but they are suitable for outdoors. I have them in enclosed lamps and they are working quite well. The outdoor lamps are on a dusk-to-dawn switch and hadle that well. They even work well when the temp gets below 20 degrees. The light in the living room is the same as we had with cfl, using a lot less wattage. The company was great to talk to and very friendly. They are nice folks. The bulbs give out arctic white light. I would purchase more of these. GFR

After bypassing the ballasts in the light fixture, we put the LED tubes in. The light the cool-white LED tubes put out is beautiful. I may add a pair of warm white for a slightly warmer mix, but I'm rather happy with the intensity, and area coverage. These lights don't waste light in all directions like the old fluorescent tubes did, which makes it much easier on the eyes. The distance from the lights to the floor is 9 feet, so I can imagin the intensity would be even brighter in a 8 foot high installation. I'm amazed at the quality of light.

These things only sip 17 watts per tube, which means I'll be doing my bit in reducing my carbon footprint. :)

At 50,000 hours of lamp life, these things will be a lot cheaper by the time I have to replace them.

My only gripe is that they did not come with an instruction sheet for installation, but after inspecting the tubes, I found a tiny label which had the wiring diagram affixed to one end of the tube. Look for it, take a picture of the diagram, and print it out for use with installing the tubes.

If you can get over the cost of these tubes, it's well worth the admission price to enjoy great lighting at a reduced operating costs.

I was concerned about how these tubes would perform based on how led bulbs performed, but these really restore my faith in LED lighting.

UPDATE:

LED lighting tends to be a bit directional in nature, so if you'd like to spread the lighting more evenly across the room, just roll the outer tubes between 5 and 10 degrees toward the outside of the fixture, and you'll duplicate more closely the spread you were used to with the old flourescent, but you'll still enjoy much better quality of light. :)

I replaced three T8 fluorescents in my home office with these. I started with just one to make sure they worked and that I would be happy with the light. Bottom line -they do and I am!

The light is great, brighter than the fluorescents and very consistent. They come on almost instantly to full power and at 17 watts they use less than half the power!

They definitely did take a little work to install and if you aren't comfortable cutting a wire then these aren't for you.

Along those lines, my only dissapointment was that the box didn't include any INSTRUCTIONS for installation and their web site was even less helpful -I posted a request for support asking for instructions and never have heard from them.

Ultimately it didn't matter though. I just cut out the ballast and reconnected the wires. The first one I did took about 10 minutes. The next two, took about 5 minutes each. It's good if you have a couple of wire nuts to join the wires back together safely.

So, if you are at all handy and want some really beautiful light (and a cool conversation piece too) then go for it!

Best Deals for Lighting EVER Brightest 20 Watt 4 foot T8 LED Tube Lights, 60W

I bought these lights partly because we're quite happy with another Lighting Ever LED fixture we installed and because of the good reviews here. Overall the wife and I are happy with them, but they were a bit tricky to get working. Here's a bit of additional information that may be helpful:

These tubes (at least the current ones, with the grey "Input" marking on one end) are single-ended tubes. A single-ended tube requires a hot line and a neutral line on the same end (and no connection on the other end). A dual-ended tube takes hot on one end and neutral on the other. My fixtures (similar to most fluorescent fixtures) are wired on both ends with shunted lampholders (the little tombstone-shaped plastic holders that the pins slide into and then turn). I had to order non-shunted lampholders (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00522MPTA) and reconfigure my fixture to get the tubes to work. It's unfortunate that Lighting Ever chose the single-ended configuration, in my opinion, since it complicates wiring for many of us. It also means that if you ever switch to dual-ended LED tubes you'll need to rewire again, otherwise you'll get a nice little explosion and a tripped breaker, since dual-ended tubes have the pins at each end wired together.) It's possible this is a recent change, since other reviews of this product and pointers to wiring diagrams seem to imply that the tubes used to be double-ended. (Here's a diagram of how to wire for different options: .)

The lights take about half a second to come on. They don't flicker on slowly like the old-style fluorescents in all my grade school buildings, but they're slower than incandescents or the rapid-start electronic ballast that we replaced. It's a bit odd to flip the switch and count a beat before the lights come on, but you get used to it. And once they're on they seem to be at full brightness. No warm-up period like fluorescents.

If you're not sure about color, go with the warm white. We sent the cool white ones back and got warm white, which is still not cozy warm like incandescents, but it's ok for our taste. The cool white color isn't as bad as in Joe vs. the Volcano, but it is rather blue.

All that aside, they work well and are a good deal for the price. I've been waiting 10 years for LEDs to become affordable and let us move beyond those unsufferable fluorescents, and it's finally starting to happen. It's good to be green.

Honest reviews on Lighting EVER Brightest 20 Watt 4 foot T8 LED Tube Lights, 60W

Materials and design

-----------------

The extruded aluminum 'tube' is nice and heavy, it gives the impression of being a good heat sink. The array of LEDs are surface mounted onto a long thin single sided PCB that slides into grooves in the aluminum extrusion. Internally the LED board is held a couple of mmoff the internal center surface of the heat sink so they're depending on the circuit boards edge touching the side of the heatsink/tube to conduct away the heat.

The big design problem is the mounting of the power supply. It is a 4" long PCB slid into the 'back' cavity of the tube with a pair of wires routed around the end of the extrusion and soldered to the LED PCB. The wires in one of my units were completely severed because there is nothing to hold the power supply boards from sliding back and forth in the tube, it was probably dropped in shipping at one point and the inertia of the power supply pulled hard enough to cleanly sever both DC supply wires against the sharp end of the extrusion. Worse one of the units made the usual 'click click click' sound of a shorted power supply when turned on, it turns out there is no insulation between the metal aluminum tube and the bottom of the power supply PCB, on this unit there was a little too much solder on some of the component leads and that solder was touching the metal case causing a short on the low voltage side. I stuck a piece of electrical tape over the bottom of the PCB and slid it back in to fix this problem. If you like excitement and decide to install these I would strongly recommend wearing insulated gloves in case any of the high voltage connections happen to touch the case.

I didn't see a UL mark on the units (AC can easily be in direct contact with the metal case and there is no provision to ground the case so they may have trouble getting an agency certification) and there is no indication of an agency certification anywhere on the packaging or docs. Perhaps they shipped me a different product than is listed on Amazon.

Installation

-------------

On the plus side a wiring diagram is included, two in fact, on the minus side neither of them could possibly work. As other reviewers have noted the actual unit is wired to receive power on the two pins on the same side of the tube despite the diagrams. On the fixture/ballast I rewired the tube connectors didn't allow for separate connection of the 2 pins on either side of the tube. If you have 'instant start, shunted' style ballast wiring expect some fun with a dremel or a trip to a h/w store to pick up a new set of unshunted connectors. Installation took way too long due to the plain wrong wiring diagrams included and the need to modify the connectors.

It is telling that the 'QA' sticker is stuck to the wiring diagram (used like tape to hold it wrapped around the unit) rather than the unit itself. The wiring diagram IS a nice looking piece of paper, though for some other unit.

Startup

--------------

The little switching power supply in each tube takes some time to start, less than 1 second for the 4 I installed. This is on par with other switching power supply driven LED's from other vendors.

Quality of light

--------------

The light quality is good and while they call it warm its as warm as any other 3800K LED's -so its not so warm compared to those 'warm' pink fluorescent tubes you can get. However its what I wanted for my utility room. The diffuser they include is appropriate and spreads the very directional light nicely, but not a whole lot. They work great in a fixture that has a diffuser over the tubes.

Summary

--------------

My main problem is the unspeakably poor integration/assembly of the units I received. I think due to the metal construction of the tube any shorts caused by the lack of insulation or mechanical support of the power supplies will likely cause a breaker to trip before actually causing a fire. I would never install one of these in a location where a person could touch the metal casing.

Read all the reviews. Seems like not all the product out there is the exact same. I ordered 2 tubes, and they came packaged nicely. With the warnings i read about on reviews here, i carefully examined the tubes i got. One end was CLEARLY labeled with an "L" and an "N" next to the two pins. I assumed those meant "Load" and "Neutral". Pulling the cap off i saw each pin had it's own wire, though i couldn't quite see where there were heading to. More importantly, taking the other end cap off, I saw there were absolutely no electrical connections to the pins. So therefore, the L & N must refer to Load (hot) and Neutral.

** Turn off power at service panel, and also at light switch. **

The rewiring the 2-tube fixture was pretty simple. I completely disconnected the ballast. Black wire (hot) connected to the side of one "tombstone" that was going to receive the "L" pin. The same side of that tombstone was connected by a short jumper to the other "tombstone" on the side that would receive the "L" pin of the other tube.

The white (neutral) wire got connected to the side of one tombstone that was going to receive the "N" pin, and a short jumper was used to connect that side of the tombstone to the side of the other tombstone that was going to receive the "N" pin from the 2nd tube.

L-to-L and N-to-N means the two tubes are connected in PARALLEL, which is the way they must be connected. Even the lousy included instructions mention that.

The color of the warm-white tubes are a very close match to the warm-white fluorescents we were using. They are somewhat brighter, using only 16W compared to the 32W of the fluorescents they are replacing.

I will be ordering 2 more to replace the other 2 bulbs in the same area.

I have been using my touch lamp to make those middle of the night bathroom trips without turning a bright light on. It has also been handy to use when I get dressed in the morning when it is dark and I don't want to wake up my husband by turning on a bright light. It is good looking and I call it my "fairy light". I did get one exactly like it that was not a "touch" lamp by accident, so be careful to make sure you are ordering the "touch" lanterna if that is what you want.

This is a remarkable little lamp. The lighting in our bathroom is bright, as it should be. We wanted something to use at night without having to turn on the vanity lights. This lamp works very well. Using only three AA batteries it is valuable to have in case the power goes out. . Sleek looking, it can fit into any decor. Will be recommending this lamp to family and friends.

When I'm watching television in my game room (my basement) with the ceiling lights off, this touch light is perfect for lighting up my snack tray. It's small enough not to get in the way and gives off just enough light to see how to operate the remote controls. It's battery operated so there's no cord to trip over. It's not a reading light and is probably too small to be used on your bed's night stand though. For my pupose, it works just fine.

This will come in very handy in case of a electrical outage but there is no way that there is enough light to read by.

OK, number one: Didn't work. I thought, maybe they left the batteries out?? I checked the packaging, it doesn't SAY batteries are included, though the Amazon website does, so I went out & got some. ($5 EACH at Radio shack, and the light needs 4 of them--kind of pricy in my opinion). Number two--how to put them in? The packaging says, "remove the LED/Battery tray assembly." OK, what's that?? Where is it? Remove it HOW? The literature doesn't tell you. There's nothing self-evident in the product's design that helps, either. You won't find a helpful diagram in the literature that came with the light, or on the company website, or anyplace else on the internet; believe me, I looked! After more fiddling, peering into the bulb end, and thinking furiously, I finally discover that you need to push the rubber ON switch REAL HARD, and then the innards will slide out. And there, lo and behold, are 4 batteries! Problem is, they're useless.

So at this point, out many wasted dollars (for batteries I didn't need) and much more wasted time and frustration than I ever bargained for, fruitless internet searches etc. for a simple diagram or clear instructions on how to put batteries in it, and what on earth a "battery tray assembly" might be, I have a little light that won't work; I don't know why. (bad batteries? bad electrical connection? who knows?)

Now I get to package the thing up, send it back (oh good, a trip to the Post Office! always a treat), and wait to see if what they send back actually works (IF they send anything back). Considering all the time wasted and attendant aggravation, the darn thing better light my way, play me a tune, get me a beer and bring me my slippers after all this. If that sounds like a "fun time" to you, then this is the light for you!

I think I know why this flashlight is sometimes selling for such a discount (compare the price with the Pelican version). When mine arrived, it barely illuminated. I figured the batteries were almost dead. Once I opened the unit, they had what looked like a bit of powdery white corrosion on them (similar to old alkaline batteries). I was able to wipe them completely clean with a tissue, reinserted them, and wow! Finally the brilliant little flashlight I had hoped for. In fact, for such a tiny flashlight it's a lot brighter than I need. I was happy to learn that the beam isn't overly concentrated/focused in the middle as I thought it might be by the description.

As another review points out, the instructions don't really explain how to replace the batteries. You must unscrew the lens end, and then push the rubber on/off button hard enough to make the inner assembly pop out. From there it's easy. I'll report back later about battery life but the advertised 130 hours seems like an enormous stretch. The instructions call for LR44 batteries this battery type goes by other names such as L1154. You can do a wikipedia search for 'LR44' to see the other names.

This flashlight is solidly built, is about the size of an adult's thumb, and is a nice orange color. It comes with a lanyard which seems to be designed to break free if under enough tension, as a safety feature. Also included are green and red lenses which can replace the clear one that is pre-installed. Replacing the lenses is a bit difficult because the reflector element must be removed first, and it's held tightly in place and needs coaxing to pull out. The red lens makes for a superb little astronomy flashlight, or for any other time you want to preserve your night vision.

I have no idea why this product only has 3 stars. This is the best micro flashlight I've found plus it's waterproof plus it comes with 3 different lenses. Come on people if you expect a flashlight smaller than your pinky finger to be a million candlepower you're going to be disappointed. But if you want a flashlight you can keep in your pocket no matter what... This is your flashlight.

It is not bad. It is pretty light actually.

But since I have ordered it together with the one called "Streamlight 73003 Nano Light Miniature Keychain LED Flashlight, Pink", I compare them, obviously. The other one little pink flashlight is much brighter, stronger directed, smaller (can be a key holder small enough) and also cheaper at least 2 times!

So the product listed on this page is not bad itself but there is something so much better on the market, that I just can not give it 5 stars because I have them both.

The design is fancy ) which is good.

I've used tons of other book lights, including expensive ones like the light wedge. I also used the crappy "robotic swing arm" ones. This is the best I've seen. Long battery life, bright directional light (doesn't fill up the room and keep others awake) and extremely light and thin. Can't think of a better design! Cost is great too.

Hate is a strong word, hence the two stars instead of one. I reserve 'hate' for really despicable actions and whatnot, so that being said--I did not like this product at all. It simply did not stay on a book, it needed constant adjusting, I finally had to just hold it in my hands to read so I may as well have had a flashlight. Get a headlamp to read at night or get a different book light. I've never been overly pleased with the book lights I have found but I read a review that called this the best book light in the world so I thought I'd give it a shot. Don't you be fooled too. Leave it alone; it's flimsy and crummy and doesn't "clip on" to anything.

The light seems to work fine, allowing my wife to read while I sleep. Since I got her a Kindle she seems to read later into the night, intruding into my sleep time. Her other reading light, on its lowest setting, combined with the LED book light, allows her to read and me to sleep. Why not a 5-star? It needs to be about 50% brighter, or (better yet) to have adjustable brightness.

Honestly, I didn't expect something like that from GE, especially after reading a 5 star review calling it the best booklight ever. I am a radiologist working in a darkroom. Even with some light coming from my computer, the light generated by this booklight is very dim, with uneven, boomerang-like distribution. There is no way of adjusting it; changing the angle would affect the brightness. Overall, this is similar to a candle light. I use it for textbooks with A4 size pages. Not only do you have to unclip and clip it from page to page as you read (annoying enough), but also you have to slide it along the same page to get enough light. The clip is very weak, and doesn't clip well to a hardcover if you are reading the last pages. Bad, bad product. Don't let it ruin your vision. Would return, but shipping is like half of the cost.
