I've used tons of other book lights, including expensive ones like the light wedge. I also used the crappy "robotic swing arm" ones. This is the best I've seen. Long battery life, bright directional light (doesn't fill up the room and keep others awake) and extremely light and thin. Can't think of a better design! Cost is great too.

Hate is a strong word, hence the two stars instead of one. I reserve 'hate' for really despicable actions and whatnot, so that being said--I did not like this product at all. It simply did not stay on a book, it needed constant adjusting, I finally had to just hold it in my hands to read so I may as well have had a flashlight. Get a headlamp to read at night or get a different book light. I've never been overly pleased with the book lights I have found but I read a review that called this the best book light in the world so I thought I'd give it a shot. Don't you be fooled too. Leave it alone; it's flimsy and crummy and doesn't "clip on" to anything.

The light seems to work fine, allowing my wife to read while I sleep. Since I got her a Kindle she seems to read later into the night, intruding into my sleep time. Her other reading light, on its lowest setting, combined with the LED book light, allows her to read and me to sleep. Why not a 5-star? It needs to be about 50% brighter, or (better yet) to have adjustable brightness.

Honest reviews on GE 17207 LED Book Light, Clip-On Battery Operated, Black

Honestly, I didn't expect something like that from GE, especially after reading a 5 star review calling it the best booklight ever. I am a radiologist working in a darkroom. Even with some light coming from my computer, the light generated by this booklight is very dim, with uneven, boomerang-like distribution. There is no way of adjusting it; changing the angle would affect the brightness. Overall, this is similar to a candle light. I use it for textbooks with A4 size pages. Not only do you have to unclip and clip it from page to page as you read (annoying enough), but also you have to slide it along the same page to get enough light. The clip is very weak, and doesn't clip well to a hardcover if you are reading the last pages. Bad, bad product. Don't let it ruin your vision. Would return, but shipping is like half of the cost.
