I had 2 20w halogen lamps over my 40"tv's stand , very nice for indirect lighting. I was looking for led to cut my electric bill, but reading others reviews, led technology seemed just starting, because color generally is too white (not ideal for home), and focus was too narrow. So, I bought couple Philips led MR16 lights, 2700 color temperature degrees, and liked a lot. Same color and focus than my halogens' ones. After that, I found others Philips lamps with others voltages. The tip is: for house 2700 color temperature, 20w halogen lampsreplace with Philips 4w lamps, 50w halogen lampsreplace with Philips 10w or 11w lamps. Now I'm replacing all my halogen lamps (par30, mr16, par20, etc.). Look for words: Ambientled, Enduraled and Masterled. For general purposes, you can use only 2 4w lamps, for whole room (PHILIPS 40875-7 4Watt LED MR16 12V GU5.3 Base Warm White 2700K 24°) . For specific tasks, as reading a book, use only 1 4w lamp.

Thankfully, we purchased only one bulb to see if it would work in our fixtures. They do not. Though described as MR16 lamps, the pins are thicker and closer together. I purchased this bulb three years ago for my outdoor porch light. It works wonderfully--it comes on in the evening and goes off in the morning, however on cloudy days it tends to stay on due to the reduced sunlight, and overhang of our porch. Despite all these extra hours of use, this single bulb lasted 3 years without flicker and good light output (not dim). I tried to find it in the big box store where last purchased and they no longer carry it, and didn't know what I was talking about; they could only offer the sensor sockets which all the revues state work poorly with dim light output and flickering. So came home, retrieved it from the recycle bag, and plugged in the actual info from the bulb, and here it is! Will buy an extra this time.

I have tried more than one type of "screw in" socket type photo eye adaptors for CFL bulbs. This bulb with built in photo eye is the only one that actually works. They used to sell it at Home Depot, but don't any more ( I asked). I had purchased one last year for my back porch that works perfectly. This is one of the only places I could find the product. I also like it because the bulb doesn't hang way down out of the fixture like it does when you use the socket style. I will buy more of these for my other outside lights. It is affected slightly by the location (where the morning sun is) but still had cut off by about 9:30. When you first put it in, if light outside, it takes about 1/2 hr to go off. After that first time, it works normally. I am surprised that is isn't easier to find, a great product. I love the bulb... it is the easiest way to add the "dusk to dawn" feature to an existing light fixture. I tried to use the "add on" dusk to dawn socket to the fixture... but that made the bulb too long and it did not look right or function well.I used these lights in two areas... one works well, the other does not.
On the front of our home we have two wall mounted fixtures with clear glass. No problems! These bulbs work like a champ!
Under the car port I have two ceiling fixtures with frosted glass.... these do not work very well and the lights end up staying on all day.
So be aware that the type of fixture does matter. If your fixture is in an exposed area with clear glass then you will love these... if you have a fixture that is not in direct sunlight and/or has frosted/tinted/colored glass then these may not work well... or at all.

I got the light, easy install. Very bright and nice that all four lights can be directional. I have on a dimmer switch and works great. Only complaint so far is there is a hum from the transformer. I installed over a computer desk for my son so he can study. I don't know if this is a bad transformer or just the way it is. Anyone else have a hum? This is a wonderful nitelite for kids, teens, or adults!! I love the color transitions and that it turns off when the room is lighted. It is not bright, so for a hallway where light is needed it is probably too dim, but for a bedroom it is wonderful!

This thing must be from Mars! The picture makes it look flat but it actually has a rounded, oblique shape that looks like some type of NASA project. It is very bright and durable as others have described and you can toggle through hi, low and strobe. The rubber guarded switch is very solid with a good positive detent when depressed... won't accidentally come on in pocket or purse. When you stop for a second or so on a setting the next click will then turn the light off. If you leave it on it will shut down in 30 minutes. The metal space ship looking body is durable and held together with 4 screws... one of mine fell out. No moisture seal is present. 2016 batts can be expensive and if you use this light frequently the batteries will expire quickly the trade off for such a bright torch. So try and find a deal on a multipack of batteries. You can get one of these at Target for $6 change and they sell a two pack of batts for $5... makes sense to just by another light and have a spare! This light would be ultra awesome if it had an eyebrow over the top of the bulb to keep the glow out of your eyes.
Update 9 Aug 2012:
After more than a year of hard use this nifty devise is still like new. Even after going through the washer... spin cycle must have dried it out! Highly recommended!

Only had this about a day and wanted to say how surprised I am with the brightness. On high, it's almost like a small flashlight. I had no trouble illuminating the far wall in a three car garage. Low seems enough for most closer in tasks and is brighter than you'd think. Helps conserve batteries, also. Beam type provides plenty of usable flood around the center. Interface is easy to use with a good feeling push button switch you don't have to hold down. I doubt it will get accidently turned on in your pocket or purse. Overall build quality appears solid. Keyring is of medium quality...easy enough to attach a heavier duty one. I'm a little concerned with battery life, but the trade-off for brightness seems worth it. You can save a lot on batteries here on amazon. I purchased two 5 packs of Maxell for under six dollars and no shipping charges. Nice little flashlight! It is 2" long, including the bulb protrusion. Very solid. No worries about this flashlight falling apart! I always keep it in my pocket just in case but don't use it as an actual keychain.There is a rubberized button switch which you use to toggle through the settings, from high intensity to low intensity to flashing and then back to off. After a second or two, you are fixed on your selected setting and, thus, it will turn off when you click again. This means that you don't have to cycle through all the other settings in order to turn it off from the high intensity beam: you just go directly to off.

I did not buy mine from Amazon; I got mine from Target for $7. It's a great light for your keychain.The Energizer High Tech (referred to as just "the Energizer" in this review) runs on two CR2016 batteries. Listed runtime is two hours, but I've used mine intermittently for about three years with no loss in output. Output is 13 lumens on high, 6 lumens on low, and 13 lumens in strobe. The light source is one 5mm LED, which is exposed. Click the rubber switch for high, another for low, another for strobe (about 2.5 pulses per second), and another for off. In any mode, a two-second delay will turn the light off with the next button press instead of going to the next mode. The body is made of polished metal, and it has the heft of stainless steel. The back has four small Phillips screws for changing the batteries. A keyring is attached.
I've used this light on keys, zipper pulls, and backpacks for years. It's tough, reliable, and bright enough for its size. I want more of them :-)

This bulb is a great energy saver if all you need is a dim glow. I think it's a great night-light sort of bulb to keep on in a hallway or bathroom just so you can avoid bumping into things in the dark. It doesn't provide enough light for much of anything else. Of course, if you have a ceiling fan, or candelabra, with 5 or more lightbulb sockets, the combined light would probably be enough for a small bedroom, etc. Just think of it as a 10W bulb, so 6 of these would generate as much light as a 60W.

A lot of my neighbors use 75/100 watt bulbs in their garage carriage lights and I just don't get why they think they need that much light. To me the lights are only there for basic lighting and decoration not for reading a newspaper. I received this lamp exactly one week ago as of today. After having owned the lamp for one week and putting it through vigorous tests I have to say that this is by far the best lamp that I have ever owned. I am currently a senior in college majoring in Business Administration Management (BA) which correlates to a huge workload requiring putting in long hours and extensive amounts of reading/studying. It is so easy to read with this lamp in comparison to that of other natural daylight fluorescent lamps because it has an integrated light filtering feature that causes less strain on your eyes. I have used this lamp non-stop for over 7 hours at a time as I crammed for multiple exams and worked on papers and it performed exceptionally well by not giving me a headache as other lamps tend to do. On the main setting that I use (Cool level three bright setting) which according to the lamp manual states that it produces (6500kKelvin) it is as bright as the sun itself. When using the lamp on this setting the light emitted from the lamp honestly feels like I am outside reading in direct natural daylight when in fact I am up at 4am studying. This lamp is absolutely amazing because it has so many features and its light scale is very dynamic ranging from 2500k-6500k on the Kelvin light scale. It has three light settings which include bright, cool, and warm. Each setting can be adjusted on a scale ranging from 1 -producing low light, 2 producing medium light, and 3 being the brightest possible light setting. The lamp itself is very lightweight and maneuverable and can articulate in seemingly any position that you need to which is a very important feature as some lamps are very heavy and cant be adjusted to needed positions. The only thing that I can say that concerned me about this lamp was the packaging. When the lamp arrived via (UPS) it was a bit damaged on the bottom of the box making me think that the product itself was damaged. After opening up the box and analyzing its contents under close inspection I concluded that the lamp was fine and no damage at all was apparent. Before I bought this lamp I did read from other various reviews posts whom had also purchased this lamp to not purchase this product because they thought/assumed that it was used and/or damaged. Please do not let those reviews discourage you from purchasing this lamp you will definitely regret it. As I sated, the outside of the lamp packaging was damaged a bit but the contents inside were perfectly fine. In fact, one reviewer even stated "Unfortunately, I never even plugged it in. I pulled it out of the box and was initially convinced it was used!" Like I said Give this lamp a chance, I promise you if you read and study as much as I do or just need a good natural light source you cant go wrong with this lamp. Also this lamp has a 3 year manufacturer warranty so no worries. It the perfect price for such a great product and besides if you do have an issue Amazon.com is amazing and they really care about their customers and I am sure that they will be happy to assist you if a problem should arise.

Color change option of TL-7000 is a cool feature, making it possible for me to adjust the lighting mode based on my mood. I purchased this lamp after looking at the vendor's website and noting the higher customer ratings on Amazon. The box arrived heavily damaged by UPS even after I requested it to be sent as a gift and was *NOT* double boxed. The lamp itself is made of plastic (except for the base) and creaks every time you move it. The base does not swivel. The LED portion of the lamp sags down under its own weight. The joints are made of plastic, which look prone to breaking given time. On the other hand, the accuracy of the brightness and color temperatures are great. Unfortunately, I am returning this unit to Amazon for a full refund. There are some other LED lamps out there like the Koncept Z-Bar which cost much more but are built wonderfully. I do wish the top of the "pivoting head" on the lamp would have been tighter and stiffer. The "pivoting head" doesn't always stay in the position I want it in. I find myself at times playing with the lamp's "pivoting head" to get it just right and have it stay in my desired position.

This was purchased so that I could turn an old Express Lane sign from a closed Target, eight feet of pvc, and a bunch of pvc connectors into a lamp. I am confident in my ability to do wiring, so this was not a big deal. The item comes with three sizes of fittings for the hole into which you insert the light bulb housing and this came in handy as I could choose the size of the pvc, this would go for the size of the drill holes as well for a piece of woodworking or pottery. These flameless candles have three big drawbacks: 1) they do not resemble waxed candles as much as other products, they look very plastic, 2) they require C batteries (2 each for a total of 6, so about 10 bucks) while other similar products use much less expensive AA, AAA, or watch batteries (which are often included), and 3) the unit I received has a faulty color mode on one of the candles -if you select a color all three will turn to it, but after about 10 minutes one of them will randomly switch to a different color. If you do not select the candle flicker (arguably the most aesthetically appealing mode) then the colors seem to stay consistent. For the price, an average product, but not great.

Mounting the mounting stubs was easy. The LED pucks easily snap onto the stubs.
The little roller on/off click switch can be located anywhere on the power cord.
The instructions clearly document which wire of the power chord is hot and which is neutral. I very much appreciate this since I hardwired the pucks into the junction box feeding my previous (now deceased) under-counter lights.
Six pucks placed 14 inches apart slightly out-shined my previous 2xF8T5 + 2xF13T5 florescent lights. The six pucks consume 8 watts of power.
50000 hours of expected use.
Ordered on Sat afternoon; arrived on Monday morning (via Ontrac).
The BAD:
120 volts everywhere. No UL seal of approval. Be careful, particularly around water.
You have to install the little roller click switch yourself if you want your pucks to be switchable. It must switch the hot wire of the power cord.
One year warranty does not exactly match the 5.7 years of advertised use.
The UGLY:
The little roller click switch is remarkably cheap made in China for 2 cents?
My two sets of three LED pucks were clearly recycled returns from some other customers.
The cord that daisy-chains to the next puck requires a half twist so your cords are not going to lay flat!
The label on the back says "Made in China". (I have a rear shot of it under "puck4U" at tinyurl.) I was hoping for this price that I was getting high quality, long-lasting LED pucks. For now, I remain optimistic, but skeptical.

I bought these to replace expensive-to-own fluoroscent pucks that were roughly the same size. They use the exact same electrical connections so installation was very easy. I have had them less than a month but they are adequate for the job.It it now a month later and one of the pucks has failed. I contacted the seller Wayfair who refused to take the item back (it is 10 days too late). They referred me to the manufacturer who in turn, referred me back to Wayfair ("not me, not me"). I would not recommend buying from this vendor as their customer service is lacking.

Bought for what is probably not the usual application: mounted inside an armoire we bought to house our stereo componentry.Installed in mere minutes and the addition of nail-in wire management clips a plus. IMPORTANT NOTE CONCERNING LED BULBS: You cannot place an LED bulb in an enclosed fixture. The fixture these bulbs are placed into must have air circulating around them. An enclosed fixture must house an incandescent, since the incandescent is not affected by heat. Place an LED in an enclosed fixture and the heat sink cannot function properly; it will slowly dim over several weeks until the brightness is only a small percentage of it's original luminosity. It probably won't suddenly go out, but it will dim considerably over time.

As of today, September 2011, this is the best LED bulb on the market. I've tested several, and this is it.
The warmth of the light looks like the GE 48688 60-Watt A19 Reveal Bulbs, 4-Pack. It's that close. The only difference is that is is slightly dimmer, and the light aura does not extend completely to the base. Sure, exclude everything else and the 60-watt Reveal bulb gives off the superior light. But you can't exclude everything else. There is both the heat load of the bulb and the energy costs. And once these are factored in the EarthLED is a very attractive option.
At the time of writing, there are about a dozen reviews. All are 5-star reviews. I suspect that trend will continue. Amazon is having a difficult time keeping these in stock also, so go ahead and order a few if you can.
Just for reference, I've also test the GE 62180 9-Watt LED Soft White A19 Light Bulb, which is supposedly the most superior LED bulb on the market. Not any more.

I purchased two of these light bulbs as a test to test try them in place of two cfl's that I use on a daily basis, I was invited to the thoguht of testing these as they use only 7 watts instead of 13 like the cfl's did. The specs are msisleading as it shows 60w comparable. It is NOT 60w comparable. It has 450 lumens compared to a standard 800 for 60w. The light output is much less from my lamp then it was originally, even though it works out because I prefer a less brighter light in that particular lamp, I did not get what I orininally thought I was paying for. I've seen real 60w led bulbs and they have 800 lumens and also use the same wattaged (13 watts) as a true 60w replacement bulb. I absolutely LOVE these bulbs. I have the 6 and 7 wattage bulbs in the white light (great light for paiting or playing games) and also the warmer yellow light. I point them out to everyone who visits and they are impressed and say that they cannot tell the difference between the LED light or conventional bulbs. I am working on replacing all the lights in the house with EartLed bulbs--it is an investment, but our electic usage and bill has shown a noticeable drop already, plus they do not give off the heat of regular bulbs, so the AC does not come on as often. Buy them on sale--Earth Day is always a big sale with 6 watts bulbs around $10 and the 7 watts around $20. This bulb has a very nice, warm look to it. The package says 450 Lumens, not 400. Note that the description says that it will replace a 60W DOWNLIGHT. That is pretty much correct, because the light dispersion is mostly in one direction. This would be good for ceiling locations where you don't want much light going up, or in cans. I put this in a difficult-to-access outdoor fixture (not a moist location) and it looks very good. It will be on about 12 hours a day, and I'm looking forward to not changing the bulb for around 8 years. We'll see...----One year update----

The Earth LED 7 bulb is, in my opinion, as good or better than a standard Edison light bulb. I am using the bulbs in all of my reading lamps and a more powerful model to light my garage. The secret to current LED designs is to put them in overhead lamps with the bulb base facing down. The light from the bulb directs from the top. Overhead lamps and and "in wall" fixtures (with out covers) work very well. If you plan to phase out your CFL's do not get standard lamps with the bulb facing up (unless you want to illuminate your ceiling). Over the past year I have broken two CFL's when I accidentally knocked over a table lamp. In a great twist of irony I purchased an overhead lamp for my LED from Targot. The package included a "free" CFL. The genius who packaged the box put the CFL next to the 10 pound base of the lamp. The CFL was broken and I will have to return it to Targot. They can keep it. My Earth LED's will never break and they will possibly last for the rest of my life. Oh, by the way, they only use 7 watts. The future is here. P.S. I do not work for EarthLED company.
