These products are easy to install (5 minutes per lamp) and produce abundant soft warm light. I replaced every recessed light in my house (over a year ago) and couldn't be happier. Some are on dimmer switches and they work great. Highly recommended!

To those basing their ratings on the Amazon price: The price at big box retailers is different in different states. This is because some states offer instant rebates to promote energy conservation (and some states don't). Don't blast the product because somebody else sells it cheaper. It may be cheaper at your local Home Depot, but not at every Home Depot. Also, the price on Amazon is always changing. On LED products, the price is usually going down, but your low rating lives forever, so rate the product itself (not the price) and let others decide if it's worth whatever it's currently selling for on Amazon.

I purchased a house where the prior owner had an infatuation with 6-inch high hats. They are sort of ugly and I had intended to replace all of them when I found these lights. I bought them at a 30% discount at Home Depot as a new model has been introduced. A new high hat housing is $15 plus. Add in the cost of one of those new "dimmable CFL bulbs" bulbs that really don't dim at all, and you are well over $20 without consideration for the time consumption of replacing the high hats. The light produced by this product is brighter than the previously existing 75 watt bulbs. In my hallway I replaced five 75 watt bulbs with five of these 10.5 watt LED's and I have more light than ever. The product leaves a clean looking glass lens instead of the typical view up inside a high hat housing. Because it seals, it also eliminates the cold air that would occasionaly blow through the housing. The bottom line is that, once you accept the idea of spending this much money for a light bulb, you get your money's worth and then some. This doesn't even consider the reduced electrical usage. After this installation, I went back and bought ten more. Now I am considering buying another twelve and it will take care of all of my high hats. I have to admint, however, that even at a discounted $35 each, paying a thousand dollars for 27 light bulbs is hard to process.

Cree manufactures the CR6. There is another product sold under the brand name of Ecosmart which is powered by Cree. In other words, the lamp guts are the same, but the rest is not. The Ecosmart brand is manufactured for distribution and sale by Home Depot whereas, the Cree CR6 is available at numerous commercial outlets. I also believe the Cree CR6 carries a longer warranty than the Ecosmart, but am not positive.

The Amazon fulfillment vendor (E Plus Discount) substituted the Ecosmart with the Home Depot wording on the box. Nowhere in their description on Amazon does it mention that this is not the actual Cree CR6 product and every description states it is the Cree CR6. There are listings on Amazon that are clearly marked "Ecosmart powered by Cree." The Home Depot variety could have been bought by me for less than I paid for what I thought was the Cree.

I consider this deceptive by E Plus Discount; they are misrepresenting the product they are selling so that they can charge a higher price. I would avoid purchasing anything from this vendor

I've replaced several recessed cans in my home with these and they look great ... nice, warm, dimmable light and brighter than my old 45W incandescent cans. But $72 is a rip-off ... they are available at Home Depot for $49 (they are labeled "Eco-Smart" but the bulbs and instructions are labeled CR6 so they're definitely the same lamps). So instead of paying $72 for one, buy two for $98 and double your energy savings ... and as a bonus you will be encouraging your local Home Depot to stock more energy-efficient products. Seems like a win-win to me!

1/2/2012 Follow Up: Others are reporting that this lamp is now available from Home Depot at $24.99. This must vary per state, because at my local Home Depot it currently sells for $39.99.

I finally got fed up with the 9 high hats in my kitchen. These are all dimable and I decided to trash the incandelscent lights. I bought one of these CR6's and it was a snap to install to modify an all ready existing light. However, check to make sure it is a six inch can. I tried to do it with a five inch IC can in my bedroom and it was just too tight in terms of length, I could get it into the can but the total length was about a half inch short and I had to remove the inner can and trim of the IC light. But for a standard 6 inch can, it fit like a breeze. Just remove the trim, take the bracket holding the socket out and then screw the cr6 to the socket and pull out the 3 metal fins and push into place. And turn the light on. Dims to low levels as well as to full power. Was not sure that the light output would be good enough because I was replacing a 90 watt halogen and this is rated as equivalent to 65 watt incandescent. Ordered 3 more and then replaced all 4 lights on the same dimmer circuit. Worked like a charm with the lutron dimmer I already had installed from 6 years ago or so. When I used only these 4 lights, it provided excellent light and I liked the color of the light better than incandescent. Worked fully dimmed and provided a very low level of illumination. At the level of where it acted like a night light, not enough to do much in, but enough so you did not bump into things and could tell if there was something on the counters. So now I have ordered 5 more to replace the 5 remaining lights. However, here is the rub. I did not buy them from Amazon, but because I live in NJ, I was able to purchase them from another vendor who sells them for about the same price as Amazon, but because NJ provides for a subsidized price from the vendor for NJ residents, I paid about 35% of the retail price. Considering I reduced the total wattage from 810 watts (9 times 90 watt bulbs) to less than 95 watt (9 times 10.5 watts per CR6), it was an easy choice when the total cost including shipping was about $235. If I had to pay the full price of approxmately $600, I am not sure I would have done it now, but probably would have just switched to dimmable CFL or waited until prices with LED had come down. But for NJ residents, google and find the vendor's site for NJ residents and go for it. You get a price a terrific Cree CR6 LED downlight for a little more than a dimmable CFL bulb. However, be warn that the cost of the Cree LR6's are much higher than the CR6 and I am not sure why, but discounted they sell for almost three times as much as the CR6.

I purchased a few of these Cree based LED lamps very bright and good colour and they only use 6 watts of power. I actually used several of these to replace PAR type overhead lights in my hallways and they offer just the right amount of brightness and dispersion. These are not as bright as CFL, but are better for many applications.

I was looking for an LED reading lamp that I could clamp to my headboard. This seemed like it might do the job, and it does.

The product description is not very clear and the instructions that come with it are in Chinese, so I'm writing this mostly to clarify what this lamp is.

There are four ways to power this lamp:

AAA batteries (4).

Lithium Ion battery, type NB-5L, which is used with Canon cameras. The lamp comes with one battery and can charge the battery if plugged into one of the following power sources.

USB mini-jack, from any USB port on a computer or charger.

Standard 5-volt power supply with a round connector.

The clamping mechanism is unlike any I've seem before and can clamp to any flat-surfaced object from very thin up to over 2 inches thick. It can also clamp to round objects up to about an inch in diameter. The clamping mechanism has three parts: the lamp itself, a sliding plate which locks into one of six distances from the lamp, and a spring-loaded insert which can be placed between the lamp and the plate to allow clamping to thinner or round objects. The insert is a clever idea, but also has one flaw. There are holes on both the lamp and the plate to make sure the insert is aligned correctly, but there's nothing holding it in place. This means you have to be careful to hold the insert while unclamping the lamp or you're likely to drop the insert behind your headboard or whatever else you're using to hold the lamp.

The lamp can also stand on its own, making it useful for doing close work that needs good lighting.

The single LED bulb is bright enough for reading at reasonable distance, up to maybe two feet. It has one dimmer setting. The lamp head moves up & down and twists around to accommodate most close reading positions. There is a timer button, presumably to turn the lamp off if you fall asleep while reading. The timer turns the lamp off after about an hour on any power source. Both buttons light up when in use. I got two to three hours of light from rechargeable AAA batteries (Eneloop) and three to four hours from the included NB-5L battery. The lamp does not charge AAA batteries. There is a power/charge indicator lamp between the USB and 5V jacks.

This lamp is an interesting, attractive, and practical design. It's the kind of solution I hope to see more of as designers learn to take advantage of the possibilities offered by ever-brighter LED's. Were it was not so easy to drop the clamp insert and if they had made the effort to include instructions in English, I might have given it five stars.

I highly doubt that anyone that has one of these will get lucky enough to get another set of batteries into these without it breaking. I would have given this a zero, but had to pick 1 star. Not just 1 side broke, they both broke for each of the 2 batteries.

I bought this bulb for a lava lamp. I tested it for about 3-4 hours and it seemed to work fine. The next day it blew out when I turned it on. I can't give it anything higher than a 1 for being a faulty product.

I bought this lamp set a little more than a year ago and receive compliments on them often. I came back on Amazon to get them for a friend when I read these terrible reviews. Mine didn't come with bulbs so maybe that's the difference? I bought my large, clear light blubs (they look like the large outdoor Christmas lights) from KMart and have never had a problem in 15 months. They work exactly as they are supposed to and I love the three-level lighting option. I love that I don't have to fumble for the switch or cord, I just roll over in bed and smack the lamp :) The only thing weird is sometimes they come on by themselves. Maybe my cat is rubbing against it or there is electricity in the air? But sometimes I turn it off and go to bed and it will be on the lowest setting in the morning. When our friend gave us this nightlight, I thought it was a little weird as a baby gift. O M G it is awesome. The charging green light doesn't interfere with sleeping, and is nice to have on when baby is in the same room. The white light is efficient, and can help you find ties to match your shirt when you are getting dressed in the dark. The round size is great for toddler hands. Very durable, we have used it nearly nightly for 4 years and found ourselves buying more with the second baby.

Mr Brightside is exactly what I was looking for. It's small, adjustable, sturdy, and casts enough light to assist with touch typing without being overly distracting or annoying to others around.

From other reviews, I was nervous the single LED would be very dim. It is not. It's comparable to every other LED I've seen. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is that the short design of it causes uneven lighting of your keyboard. To me that's to be expected and a fair tradeoff for the compact design.

It's about time these came in Yellow. I find this yellow bulb very useful. It dramatically decreases bugs at my home..... it's not supposed to repel all of them. It a compact fluorescent bulb inside ..... of course it takes time to warm up!

These are best left on all night or for extended periods ..... don't put these in your motion sensors as you'll be disappointed because the light isn't instant .... and the lifespan will be greatly reduced by the constant on/off ...... this is compact fluorescent's dirty little secret.

Within a couple of days after installing this bulb in a recessed fixture over an outside doorway, the yellow lens fell off and smashed on the steps. It did seem to attract fewer bugs while it lasted.

They consistently have about 20 bugs flying around them, which is just about the same as the my white CFL floodlights on the back of my house, so I'm not impressed with the bug stealth of these Feit floodlights. I have a few other CFL bug lights around my house that are not floodlights that I bought at Home Depot and those attract zero bugs. I was hoping these Feit lights would have a similar performance and they don't. Disapppointed.

This bug light works great except for 1 minor imperfection. I use 2 of these bulbs at my shop and they stay on for an average of 10 hours a nite. They save me about 4 bucks a month on my electric bill over incandescent bulbs. However, after a while the yellow lens does fall off as other reviewers have talked about. The fix is to put some gorilla glue on 3 sides of the bulb and that will solve that issue permanently. Good Bulb with 1 imperfection Easily Fixed.

I purchased the same brand and type of lamp from a local home improvement store. The lamp itself works fine. However it has a very fragile face, easily broken while even still in the package. Most CFL outdoor flood lamps are pretty rugged, this one is not. Treat it even more carefully than you would an ordinary light bulb.

I thought that this was going to be a silver bullet for the tracked accent lighting in my house that had 50W halogen GU10 lamps in them, they ended up making that wall in the living room look like a dull washed out scene from the lunar landing. The lights produced dull grey-white light in a very narrow beam I immediately took them out, but in the short time that I had them up I realized that they are indeed quite dimmable, they wont go to 5% but they do get pretty close with an albeit not so smooth brightness curve. Save yourself the time and buy the Feit ones at Lowes.

I purchased 2 of these. One was brighter than the other. Neither was as useful to me or as bright as the 4 watt Philips Ambient GU10 (of which I bought 4 and they were consistent in color and brightness). OTOH the Phillips cost almost twice as much. The Philips bulb is available here, or you can find them at Home Depot for $30.

I have serious doubts about the lifetime claims for LEDs. For that reason I believe that established brand names (Philips, GE) are worth a premium. Without a doubt these are brighter than the 1-2 watt GU10 bulbs.

I have a 3 bulb fixture on my wall which I use for my main lighting source in my small living-room. I have been using (3) GU10 35w halogen bulbs in it for the last 4 years. I have had to replace the bulbs a little less than yearly (I have never has a light fixture which burns through bulbs this fast). I was thinking about getting something a little brighter ... maybe use a 35w in the center and (2) 50w in the ends. I bought a reading lamp for my bedroom about a year ago, it has a 4w LED bulb in it and is just right for reading. I decided to give LED a try for my living-room.

I purchased only one of these 4w LED bulbs; I understand from other reviews that there can be differences in color and brightness between bulbs even of the same model. I bulb I received is about 60% the brightness of the halogen, very directional (maybe 5-10 degrees) where the halogen is about 45 degrees, much whiter light (makes the halogen light appear very yellow by comparison).

I like the whiter color, but I want something brighter, with a wider beam, and I was thinking dimmable would be nice. I found this on Amazon and will try one of these to see if I like it better Dimmable 6W LED MR16 GU10 base Flood 45 Soft White bulb

I used 3 of these bulbs to replace 50-Watt halogen spots. The amount of light that it produces is about the same, but in a much narrower beam. The color of the light is a nice bright white (which we're all going to have to get used to when incandescents go away). It is a bit pricey, but I don't expect to have to replace them any time soon.
