I have used this bulb in many places where I need a decorative, older feel and can deal with a lower level of light. If you are unsure, buy one. You will find somewhere it will work. Where do I use it? Front door/side door. It casts a warm, welcoming light that appears as if it is a gas light or old incandescent from the distance pretty. I have it in a guest bathroom as a 3 bulb array of downlights. (though it casts light 360 quite well) I have decided to put it in my main stairs, as the light is enough for the stairwell and looks very nice.
Worth a try if you think it may be what you ar looking for. I now own 6 of this series and am about to buy a couple more. If you want a modern light with an old time glow, this is the bulb.

First off, I use the leviton 6124H dimmers in my home. When I tried to dim the lights they stayed on full brightness until they simply began to pulsate. No visible dimming effect.
this is probably due to the incompatibility of my dimmers and LED's in general, but maybe not. Just a heads up if you use this type of dimmer.
So I moved them to a non dimmed fixture in the master bedroom. There they worked fine. I liked the color, but it is behind a globe so that may have some effect.
They were noticeably dimmer than the the (2) 60 watt incandescent bulbs they replaced, but still plenty of light. And for a fraction of the electricity costs.
One of the 2 I purchased had the LED stack broken loose from the base. it still worked, and since it is behind a globe, I wasn't concerned.
