I have only had a month to evaluate the light's performance, but it is performing very well. I live in the cold, cloudy northeast and it has managed to charge almost every day. The light output is good, exactly what I was looking for. Because it is an led it won't be as bright as a regular light bulb. On full charge it lasts all night. Very happy with it.

I had bought 2 of this Gamasonic solar lamps. They are slightly different. The first one has 8 LEDs and the second one has 6 LEDs.(I guess maybe different generation.) Both lamps are very bright. I think they are the brightest ones in the solar wall lamp. However, they worked for about 1.5 years and then totally died.(I bought the 2nd one in May 2011, and died in Sep 2012.) Considering the price, I think the life could be longer.

This product comes with a good strong battery

that will enable the light to shine

the whole night through -for the first couple nights.

However, the unit I got doesn't last more than an hour now,

which makes it pretty useless to me. Surely at least part

of the reason is that it is mounted on a north-facing wall

and so it has little opportunity to get the direct rays

of the Sun. I suppose this illustrates the cardinal rule

about solar power: no solar, no power.

I have had this sconce for a year and a half and it has worked perfectly during the summer, fall and winter. I would recommend this product is anyone who needs a light where you cannot hard wire it.
