This is my first product review on Amazon, that's how strongly I feel about this bulb. Before I purchased this bulb a couple weeks ago, I did a lot of shopping around on Amazon for grow bulbs. I was looking for a bulb to grow some Ghost Chillis and Scotch Bonnets in my wardrobe. The only constraints I was limited by were the price of a bulb and the heat it produces. Standard HPS bulbs tend to be a bit more pricey and produce a ton of heat, something I wouldn't chance with my (wooden) wardrobe garden. CFLs (this bulb) produce less light, but also less heat. With that being said, you are able to safely move the bulb closer to your plants to make up for the lack of light. So after all this consideration, I settled on this bulb. The price is excellent and I already knew the bulb was going to be huge. Well the bulb came in and I rigged it up in my wardrobe right above 3 Ghost and 4 Scotch Bonnet sproutlings. A week ago when this was all put together, my pepper plants were maybe 1" tall with two tiny leaves. I lined my wardrobe with aluminum foil (to capture light and heat) and put the light on a timer that allowed 4 hours of darkness per day. I placed my peppers in self-watering pots about 8" under the bulb and went on vacation for a week.

Well here I am one week later. I came home, opened my wardrobe and I was stunned. Every last plant simply exploded in lush greenery. For a $11 product, I was not expecting this level of success. I don't expect this bulb to actuate flowering in my peppers, I will probably have to purchase a more "red-spectrum" bulb for that job. But as for producing beautiful, green leaves... This bulb absolutely does the trick.

I have to say that the bulb is HUGE, but is is extremely bright. Its goes excellent for growing plants. My seeds grow a half of inch a day with theses bulbs. I highly recommend these CFL bulbs if you are growing any plants indoors.

This bulb is much larger than I thought it was, so make sure to check the size shown in the image to make sure it will fit for your application. It's also much more awesome. I replaced a 60 watt incandescent grow light with this thing. It's so much brighter, and our plant has taken off after adding it to our grow area. We're growing a ghost pepper plant indoors, and it has really flourished after adding the bulb.

I love indoor plants but because of the lack of direct sunlight I was worried I lacked a green thumb. I opted to test out this grow light since the previous bulb I had purchased burnt out so quickly (Bulbrite 50W). The Hydroponic Full Spectrum CFL Grow Light Bulb is a huge bulb (it will still fit in a normal bulb socket) that is MEGA bright. My plants are now thriving. I have even been able to restart an orchid that I thought had died (no blooms yet but I have 4 large leaves and a stem is starting to grow!), and an african violet that also shriveled under my previous grow lamp. I will try and update this review in a few months for a better review on the bulb life.

The bulb was very bright, but did not last. After about 24 hours of use over 4 days the bulb burned out. Considering the other reviews, these bulbs have hit or miss quality. I do not reccommend them.
