I just recieved my LED cable and controller. Had it running in about two mintues and learned the control pad in about another 3.

This strip of LED lighting is wonderful. Easy to connect and intuitive. 1-Wall power cord into transformer, 2-tranformer plugs into little white remote control device with an infra red reciever "eye" on a wire and a micro four prong plug which then 4-plugs into the LED strip.

The colors are vivid and bright, you can 'make' any color you want and save it to 1 of 6 custom color buttons on the RC unit by adjusting any of the 3 LEDS that make up EACH LED light unit, ie if you add red and blue, and no green-you get magenta-any magenta you like, more blue more red etc , add green and blue but no red, you get teal. Choose red and lower the intensity, you get orange or yellow or very warm 'white'. You can chose R-Bor G ann then tint/blend each with an up down arrow -each designated for each color type each; you can have the strip strobe (sorta not a true strobe), blink (and control the speed) fade from color to color (and control the speed of the fade or simply have it jump from color to color) and you can choose between 2 pre set color patterns-R-G-B or all seven stock hues-and there is a bright, cool white as wellvery versatile. And if all these options sound a pain-there are about 24 preset colors-press the button and its that color!

You can cut the strip every 3 LEDs to adjust length. I have no idea how many strip you can connect in total, but i guess 2-as the output total seems to not allow for more, as i calculate it.

I bought this on a whim of sorts as the price was not a risk imho. Having recently remodeled the kitchen, and having seen very expensive "under the counter rim" moood lighting using LEDs , but for about two thousand dollars, we decided to pass as a part of the 'real' remodel, to contain cost to more useful items.

HOWEVER, on seeing this, I thought id give this a try. The strip works beautifully, and casts an interesting effect when our kitchen is dim or dark and when we are entertaining. It is a bit "bar like" in my present application-shining down under the island counter rim, but would also look great as a valence lighting. The nice thing is because everything can be dialed in, and the unit retains the settings, it need not be circus like in appearance-it can be very subtle as well.

The adhesive on the strip isnt great-it will hold the strip in place, but if mounted upside down, as i have, a bit of extra adhesive, or high quality 2 sided tape, is recommended. The set comes with 'u' like bars which are meant for tacking wire strips. These are desinged for a flat ribbon and fit over strip and then can be secrured with a nail or tiny screw hole on each side of the little clear plastic wire 'U' shaped retainers, which would be fine for permanent install.

Have no experience to share on water proofness, but i have no doubt the strip itself is waterproof. Equally sure that the micro pin male female plug connector is not, and would need to be wrapped, put in heat shrink tubing or otherwise protected for long term outside or wet exposure imho.

I will probably buy one or two more , one for my CD shelves and stereo for dim lighting under books shelves, and one for a friend's new cabin.

And, the unit really doesn't have instructions, only a very very basic pictorial of the schematic from line to RC unit. Not an issue, as none of the plugs can be confused. Likewise with the RC pad, but after pressing buttons a few times, youll get it, as did I.

I got what was pictured, adapter, cord, controller, remote and spool of lights. the strip seems fine, however, it was wired up incorrectly, looking at the other reviews, it looks like the people soldering on the pigtail to the light strip connect the colors at random, someone else said his red and green were reversed, mine, the blue and green were switched.

if you're good with a soldering iron, it's not a big deal, but it does show a lack of concern with quality control.

so far, after rewiring things, it's been ok. (only had it a week).

I'd recommend a different supplier.

Purchased to add to my Christmas display and outdo my neighbor, or as I call it, "The Game Changer". Item arrived with all parts intact. The instructions are not really instructions, more like an inventory of what's there and what it does but not how to use it.

Assembly was pretty obvious, although it took a minute to figure out what that white lead with the black cap was. Come to find out that is the antenna for the remote. Using the remote it came right on. The instructions do have a diagram of what the buttons are on the remote, but again, not how to use them. The grammar is poor so I'm assuming it's from China.

The LED ribbon is inside a long rectangle rubber tube, and you could probably pull it out if you wanted. It makes the strip waterproof, but the ends are not completely sealed and would require careful placement. I was thinking of placing this out in the yard, but decided not to after examing the ends.

The remote controls the light strip, I found I had to be within 6 feet of the sensor for it to register. Some of the colors are not exact specificaly yellow. Depending on the up/down adjustment setting I did, it was more orangey or whiteish. I couldn't get a true vibrant yellow. The up/down function will change the color to a max step of 8 (says in the instructions). In addition to the color changing control, you can also change the speed of the flash or fade effect to be faster or slower.

The remote has several "DIY" buttons, which I'm assuming is to program your own color, save it, and use it. But again, the instructions fail to say anything on how to make that happen, so I haven't figured that out yet.

I placed these on the underside roof of my porch, facing the door so it would illuminate the whole porch and man does it ever! I finally settled on the "Auto" program which goes through 5 white flashs, primary color flash, primary color fade, secondary color flash, secondary color fade the whole routine takes about a minute. By primary I mean you'll see reds, blues, greens, etc. Secondary is more like purples, teals, turqoises, etc.

Regarding the seller, I've been looking for an additional strip of waterproof LEDs without having to buy the entire package. I don't need another power supply and controller, I want to add a second string to the first so the whole thing does the same color show. I emailed the seller and a few days later the reply was basically, "Sorry, Amazaon holds our stock, we can't help." At least they were apologetic.

If anyone knows where to get another compatible waterproof RGB color changing strip (just the strip), please let me know!

Honest reviews on LEDwholesalers IP66 Waterproof 16.4 Ft RGB Color Changing Kit

This is one honestly terrible product and company.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY

If it doesn't break when you buy it, it will in about 2 days.

I've bought three, 2 of them arrived broken and 1 broke by itself the next day, not even plugged in to power.

I tried to get a refund for at least 1 of the three faulty products, THEY DIDN'T EVEN ANSWER MY EMAIL. If the products weren't bad enough, the company itself it much worse.
