I can't vouch for how long it will last, as I just received it. But compared to an LED 'push-on light' I have, this turns on/off easily (without a hard push). But see my follow-up below. And it gives a nice (brighter than an incandescent nightlight) 'glow' to a room. But don't count on it sticking to a wall with just the adhesive strips that are included. Because of its weight, it will likely 'fall down' in a short time (as one of mine did), unless you use a screw or nail to hang it via the slot incorporated into the back of this light (...and you can only mount it that way 'along' the side of a wall, but not 'under' a cabinet ceiling, for example). As a result of the 'fall', for some strange reason, the batteries went dead. But even with new batteries, the unit never quite worked the same again...it became 'finicky' as to how easily it would turn on/off...I have to(now) push on it 'just right'...unlike before. [Follow-up: 2 months later. My 'other' (2nd) unit, which did not experience any falls, still 'went bad' after only (approximately) 15 on/off cycles. One day, for no apparent reason, and with only occassional/intermittent usage during those 2 months, "pressing-in and then releasing" the diffuser would NOT cause the light to reamin 'On'. You'd have to 'hold-in' the diffuser continually to get light. I would suggest you skip this unit.]I use this light in my closet so I don't wake up my significant other. It is rather bright and the batteries have worked for almost a year now, but keep in mind I only use a couple of minutes a day. I like the warm glow of this light compared to the white LED models.
