but this is hands down the best tool system light ever made. Head and shoulders above the other designs, which always seemed to be slap a light on top of a battery holder and throw it in as a bonus. Here's my over the top moment: If you don't own any Makita LXT series tools, this easily is worth making the switch all by itself. As a contractor, light in weird spaces is critical to doing good work. This light enables you to angle clean, well directed, bright light exactly where you want it. Set it on the ground, on a ledge, hang it from the ceiling, hold it in one hand, hook it on your belt, whatever. And when done, it folds down to a nice, compact and protected package. The lens is protected from breakage as your not so careful helpers pack up. I liked this light so much I ended up buying 3 and sometimes use all 3 to floodlight an area without power while I rig it for power. They're that good.

This is clearly a light that someone sat down and said "what would I want if I could have everything in an affordable work power tool system light?". About the only complaint I have, which is really more of a preference, is a different switch location. The power switch is on the back of the light and molded into the rubber back. Sometimes hard to find in the dark which causes some minor fumbling and causes you to hold the light a little awkwardly as you click it on. A trigger position switch would have been better in my opinion.

I'm a big fan of Makita LXT 18 volt tools. They are beasts and well designed, and this light is creme of the crop. It actually made me spends a few minutes typing a review....for a work light.

It's easy to find a flashlight that puts out a lot of light, but it can be hard to get the light to shine in the right area while working with both hands. I have quite a few different types of lights, both cordless and corded, but none work as well as this. This light is very configurable (you can angle the head at many different angles) and the weight of the battery keeps it from tipping over easily. It has a sturdy metal hook that can be used to hang the light, then tuck away flush. It's nice having the two brightness settings, but you have to remember to click twice to turn it off (not a big deal). I haven't had it long enough to verify battery life, but I don't have to worry too much since the batteries charge quickly and I have extras. If you have any of the Makita 18 Volt Li-Ion tools and need an awesome work light, this is it.

I have a vast majority of Makita's new LXT 18v lineup right now as it is. I was hesitant to order this one because of the fact of it being LED, I was worried that the light would be too "directional" and not cover a large area. MAN, was I wrong! By far, the best flashlight I have ever owned. It folds down on it itself for storage which is nice and feels like really good quality stuff. On the high setting, it really illuminates an entire area. On the 2nd setting, it also does a great job of lighting an area. Overall definitely recommend if you already own the LXT batteries and chargers. Great job Makita.

This is one of the best ,flashlight series, that I have come across. 240 lumas for up to 9 hours is hard to beat. Lamp head can twist and turn, or fold up completely.

Bright light, functional and well designed. Head swivels and collapses allowing full range of angles to position light. Built in hook increases utility.

*UPDATE* 3/31/13 Upon further review, not so well designed. Defective on/off switch. Aside from the fact this light consistently cuts off while on, the switch often fails to properly engage when that happens. A solid click is heard and felt from the switch when depressed and working properly, but far to often there's no "click" when the switch is depressed. An otherwise great light is effectively ruined by a poorly functioning on/off switch.
