It worked well for about a week and then one of the fans quit. I emailed Lou, the owner, about it and he said mail it back and I'll replace it. Mailed it back and didn't hear back for a couple weeks some emailed again. He said "oh it's on the way." Nothing for about 10 days. I've been emailing every other day for a week now and haven't gotten any response.

The product was well packaged, complete, and came with good instructions. It took me about 2 1/2 hours to install, but I am sure you could do it in half the time with a helper.

Pros:

Easy to install

Kit includes everything you need (except tools of course)

Great value compared to larger vent fans

No cutting through walls

Even included vent block-offs for the winter

Cons:

Amount of air exchanged is limited by the relatively small fans and vents

A bit noisy when in operation (only a con if you are in the garage when they are running)

Conclusion In the end I was torn between 4 or 5 stars. I gave it 5 because even though it won't measure up to a large wall vent system it is much simpler, easier to install, and costs a lot less. It is a great product that does exactly what it claims. It won't magically keep your garage cool when you park a hot car in it on a hot day, but it will dramatically decrease the amount of time it takes to cool back down to ambient temperatures. My garage is now down to "normal" temperatures a few hours after parking. Before it would still be warm when I went out in the morning after sitting all night.

Tips Make sure you pick up a good quality 4 1/2" hole saw for installation, they may be hard to find at the local hardware store. Also get some plastic spray paint to paint the outside covers for a professional looking installation.

Does just what it says. It cools your garage. With careful installation, you should be pleased.

I was somewhat dubious of this product and emailed another reviewer before buying. I'm glad I did. He's a doctor and he reassured me that he liked his, so I went ahead and bought it. Thanks, Doc, although I didn't realize you would bill me just for asking your advice...

Anyway, it does just what it says. It cools your garage.

Prior to the unit being delivered I monitored the temperature in my garage which has a south facing door and a water heater in one corner. Almost always above 95 degrees. After installation...84 degrees.

My overall home cooling bill dropped, I think, because the heat removed from the garage did not transfer up into the "bonus room" above our garage. (next big project is to inspect insulation or lack of between garage ceiling and bonus room floor)

Biggest caution I can urge.....I measured for placement of the vents several times. I even used a similar thickness of wooden block temporarily attached to the door to simulate where I would place my upper vents to make sure nothing would scrape or interfere with the garage door movement. After measuring and cutting the first hole, the vent still scraped against my upper garage door weather strip gasket which I had to pare down to allow unrestricted movement. By this time I HAD to install the vent on the other side of the door the same way to preserve symmetry.

Do what I did, measure, simulate and then move the hole ANOTHER inch inward and downward just to be safe.

Once the first hole is cut, there is no turning back.

Kit seems very small when it arrives, but that is because it is packed so efficiently.

It is simple to install, directions are great. Templates for marking and cutting holes are good, just make sure you are VERY careful of placement like I mentioned earlier.

Fan noise is not bad. Grills on outside of door are a little hard to paint, but are hardly noticed from the street.

I will buy this kit for my next garage when I move to my big house in the country.

Fairly easy to install, involves cutting four holes in your garage door. The retractable AC cord is pretty slick. It's a little noisy and the installation screws are too long for thin doors (poked through mine) but if you need garage ventilation and can't cut through a wall (ours is concrete) this is a neat alternative.

Helped a friend install this in his garage. Came with all of the parts and well packed. The company web site claims that installation time is about an hour. Figure at least 3-4 times that. If you do not have an automatic opener or electric outlet it will take longer. We had the opener installed on the bracket so that did not take much time. Make sure you have the appropriate hole saw and that will probably require a 1/2" drill. That said the only word of caution is to make sure you allow enough room at the top where the exhaust vents are placed so the vents will not hit when open as the garage door is closed. The fans blow the louvers open when running and this requires an additional 11 1/2" clearance then when they are not on.

The company that makes the unit is in Florida and that's where the unit was installed. The system works but offers very little benefit. My friend who was returning to Canada for the summer decided to leave the unit off as there was no benefit he could see. Perhaps the system would offer some small benefit in a different area and when the weather is not too warm or humid. Also, the most this unit could possibly work on is a single car garage.

In Florida the garages do get hot in the summer so having a good fan will make it more comfortable for working. This system won't. In terms of protecting tools and other items the big problem is humidity. This system will do nothing to control that. In fact if you have a dehumidifier it will remove dry air and bring in moist air. In my opinion, if you do not want to go to the expense of Air Conditioning your garage, spend the money that this vent system will cost and install a dehumidifier, which will cost about the same. You can add a fan for additional comfort.

Finally, This is not a commercial system and I question how long the parts will last. While the unit comes with some guards and screens for the vents you will need to install some tighter mesh screens if you want to keep small critters from entering. At least in Florida.

I gave the system two stars because it does work and might be helpfull in small garages and in different areas. However,I have the same garage as we installed the system in, and I would not install the unit in my garage even if it were free.
