I wanted to let people know that these bulbs are 78mm long, not 118 mm. The description doesn't specify. (Actually the packaging doesn't say how long they are either, but I measured them.) So, make sure you get the correct length. I didn't. :-(

After ordering thousands of items from Amazon over the years, this product is easily the worst. In fact, out of all of those purchases, I have only had to return about five or six defective or incorrect items.

However, the manufacturer of this "Rough Service" halogen bulb has, apparently, no quality control in place: The first twin pack I ordered had a bulb with a broken filament (FYI: The Amazon packaging was fine, so the bulbs had been well protected). I sent the package back, which is always a pain in the rear.

Then Amazon -within a day or so! -sent me the replacement.

The new bulbs, laying there in their package, looked fine. But when I cautiously and carefully removed one of them from the blister pack, holding only on to the base of the bulb so as not to get fingerprints on the quartz envelope, the lamp's entire body -glass, filament, and the other porcelain end cap -fell to the ground! It wasn't even attached to the filament or to the glass envelope!

So, I've given up on these "Rough Service" halogens completely, as well as sending them back. (The other bulb worked -for now -so I can't be bothered with the whole return process again).

Pure junk.

Bought these for an auto sensing fixture above my garage door. The previous bulbs kept burning out from the on and off as well as vibrations from garage door. I have used these since November of '09. It is now August of 2010 and they are running strong still. Would definitely buy again from Amazon. I bought a couple at the local hardware store for work lamps.

I ordered these bulbs from amazon and they arrived packed in a bubble padded envelope. An envelope for light bulbs? Yes.

I loaded one into my desk light. The light is ridiculously bright for a desk and, yes, the fixture is rated for 150 watt bulbs.

After running for an hour or perhaps slightly more, I am standing next to the lamp and I realize there's some kind of slight buzzing or hissing noise somewhere in the room. I realize it's the light bulb and I lean in. It's too bright to look at directly. I turn off the light and look at the filament after it dims down. It looks like there's a missing section of filament about 3mm long. I go to turn the light back on and the bulb is stone dead.

What I think happened is the filament burned out in that small section, but the arcing of 120V kept the path electrically viable to conduct through by arcing. When I turned off the light, the path de-ionized or something and would not start back up.

So, I now know why they put two of these in a package.
