I already own an M22 Warrior and an M-18 Maverick and I was expecting for THIS KLARUS ST-11 to bring me the best of both worlds.
This is a great flashlight, at a great price. It does everything it claims to do and is about (roughly) as bright as the M22 XM-L2 Warrior BUT ... I am going to recommend EITHER (or both) The Maverick and/or the Warrior.
Simply put ? ... This Klarus ST-11 is smaller and lighter than the Warrior while it is noticeably brighter than the Maverick BUT it has a COMPLICATED AND DIFFICULT USER INERFACE (BY COMPARISON) and it HEATS UP VERY FAST IN HIGH/TURBO MODE.
If you are a Law Enforcement or Security PRO ? ... Get the M-22 Warrior.
IF you want a VERY versatile and LONG RUNNING "everything" all-modes super-light that is fairly priced and can be super bright ? ... Get the KLARUS.
If you need an EDC POCKET TORCH for PERSONAL SECURITY AND UTILITY ? ... Get the M-18 Maverick.
I am saying that IN ANY TACTICAL THREAT SITUATION ? ... YOU *DO* *NOT* WANT TO BE FIDDLING WITH THE KLARUS (TRUST ME).
Both the Maverick and the Warrior will MEMORIZE YOUR PREFERED INSTANT-ON BRIGHTNESS LEVEL and will CYCLE FROM *THERE* ... ALSO ... TURBO MODE and TACTICAL STROBE CAN BE INSTANTLY ACCESSED, AT ANY TIME.
The MAVERICK IS *MUCH* SMALLER, SLICKER, LIGHTER, HANDY, SIMPLE than the KLARUS !! ... BEST POCKET TACTICAL/UTILITY EDC TORCH AVAILABLE ! ... WORD !
THE WARRIOR is BIG and is the heaviest, with lots of heat-sinking BUT PROS NEED THIS !! PROS WILL APPRECIATE THE INSTANT ACCESS TO PREFERED TACTICAL MODES AND THE COOLER HEAVY-SESSION OPERATION (i.e. for SEARCH AND RESCUE), WHEN THE BRIGHTEST SETTINGS MAY BE IN CONSTANT USE.
I love all these lights but the slick and elegant (and VERY CAPABLE!) Maverick is my favorite, hands down and, in a bugout scenario, the lighter weight and smaller size will be appreciated, above longer throw.
The Klarus is perfect for sportsmen and ATVs, Snow-mobiles, etc. (where you have the time to access the different modes and someone is not attacking you.
Ok ... I hope that helps. LOVE THEM ALL ! They are ALL SINGLE 18650 XM-L2 ROCKERS !.

I recieved this yesterday and thought about other reviews that said it was complicated to operate. I was hesitant to buy it because of this but I got it anyways because of the memory function. After messing with it for a while, I do not think it's complicated at all. If anything it's rather simple. With the end clicker, it's either ON or OFF. While it's in the OFF position you can half-way press it for momentary on. I love this feature. When in the ON position, most of the operation comes from the side button. It's extrememly easy to switch between modes and I think the douple tap feature is nice because if something were to happen and you needed to use the strobe, you would not have to cycle through different settings. While it is turned on, cycling through these settings is easy. You just hold the side button until it changes, which is like a second or something. It's quick and easy to go through them and you can turn the light on and off from the side button as well. It's not the most tactical of lights, but it's not meant to be that either. Also, for me personally, I am a lanyard type of guy so the lanyard swivel is nicely done. It sits up perfectly to act as a candle. I will be out camping this weekend and will report back on it's performance when I return. But until then, this is easily the best light I've ever purchased. I'm not flashlight-o-holic, but I think for the majority of people this would fit the bill for many situations.Best Deals for Klarus ST11 XM-L2 U2 Cree LED Flashlight, Grey
This is an absolutely fantastic light, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an ultra-bright, moderately small light. It appears very well built at least the outside construction and durable. To get the minor things out of the way first: I'm not super fond of the tail switch operation. It is a heavy click and has to be pressed a long way in for it to stay on. Also, I find the button on the side of the light to be hard to find. Neither a big deal, but still UX inconveniences.
There is certainly a ton on the good side. First, is, simply put: bright, bright. This light is blinding and the beam has an excellent throw. The brightest part of the beam is slightly larger (creates a larger circle) then some other brands (such as the Olight M20), but there is so much more quantity of light, that I like it that way. It gives me more of a picture when I turn it on.
The strobe setting which is accessed by double tapping the side button alternates between super fast strobing and fast strobing. When it's super fast, it's almost like the the light doesn't turn off complete, but instead just varies the output. When it's fast it seems like it does shut the light off completely during the off part of the strobe. I feel this is a brilliant, and excellent feature, and I believe I would recommend this light based off of that feature alone. I was very impressed.
When the light is on, the side button can be depressed briefly to turn the light onto Standby mode (turning the light off). When the button is depressed for < 1 second (roughly), the light returns to Standby. When pressed for > 1 second, the light will remain on. While it takes a little getting used to, I think this is a great feature that mimics the tail switch's momentary on, allowing one to turn it on ever so briefly to scan an area before turning the light back off.
The candlelight setting is absolutely fantastic. It like an ultra low setting as the light has High, Medium, and Low, and then Ultra Low. It is probably a second single reason for buying the light. It is perfect for casual times when one doesn't need much light. I find myself using this setting quite a bit.
One other thing I really like is that it defaults to high (like after swapping batteries). Typically when I want to turn it on quickly, I desire the high setting to be used and don't want to find another button to get it there. I make a habit of running the light for at least 3 seconds on High after having it on a lower setting, and before turning it off because otherwise it will remember the last setting that was run on for more than 3 seconds.
While it doesn't have a cigar ring, there are enough groves to keep it from rolling a long way. It does not include a holster, but I find that isn't a big deal for me as I just use the belt clip. It does includes a lanyard.
The bezel does get reasonably warm after running on particularly higher settings for awhile, but overall it seems to handle the heat buildup well.
I like how the head screws onto the battery part of the light as the connection seems solid and it glides on very nicely.
The light does go through batteries, so be sure to have a few extras around, and I personally would recommend rechargeables for that reason.
I would absolutely recommend purchasing this flashlight.
Honest reviews on Klarus ST11 XM-L2 U2 Cree LED Flashlight, Grey
I knew I was going to like this light. That's why I ordered two. And the ST11 has some significant advantages over previous versions, such as the XT11 (600 lumens), which I also highly recommend. The ST11 and its slightly smaller brother, the ST2C (820 lumens) are great tactical flashlights for cops and military patrols. Disadvantages, right at the top, are that it doesn't take the red, blue and green screw-in filters like the XT11, it doesn't come with a case, nor is its lowest setting runtimes as long as the earlier light. It does, however, put out a useful 1 lumen for 700 hours!
On the plus side, the 900 lumens is noticeably brighter than the 600 lumens of the XT11. It also has a side switch that makes use easier in defensive situations, and, speaking of defense, blasting an assailant in the face with 900 lumens in low light will temporarily render him blind. If Klarus had made it possible to "memorize" the strobe, it would have been an even better defense tool.
The ST11 has a flat tail cap that makes using it in electrical outages a cinch. Just turn it on and set it down so the ceiling reflects the light. It also only has one O-ring (washer) instead of two or three, which makes it easier to maintain its IPX-8 (waterproof to 2 meters) standards. Speaking of waterproof, most of the IXP-8 lights can go substantially deeper, but with one O-ring, I wouldn't push this one.
Given the law of diminishing marginal returns, I think the SX11 is approaching the level that any additional light for this type of light would begin to dip into the negative zone. Very few people will need the extra horsepower of this 900 lumen light, except for defensive or emergency use. In dire situations such as a hurricane or other emergency situations which may involve longer times, most people will find that the lower two modes, which greatly extend runtime, will be just fine and will make the batteries go a lot longer.

I pack the SX11 in my bugout bag, but my everyday carry (EDC) remains the Klarus XT2C, which is the smaller version of the XT11. I won't bother upgrading to the ST2C, as I value the longer runtimes at the bottom of the scale. Besides, you're just not going to need the extra horsepower for peering into computers and inspecting dark rooms. But if you need a light that will double for defensive use, the ST2C is a much better choice because of its side switch and ability to memorize the lower settings.
One advantage of these types of lights is that it takes an inexpensive 18650 rechargeable batteries or CR123A lithium batteries, which don't leak and have 10-year+ shelf lives.
Should you get this instead of an XT11? No, you should get it and the XT11! The XT11 has a blinding light and has the ability to take colored filters, useful for hunters and covert, or discreet, military operations. (I recall my dad had a couple of old World War II flashlights with red filters that could be easily removed). "Red" preserves night vision and can't be seen as most observable distances; and "Green" also preserves night vision, though to a lower extent, and it makes reading maps easier and doesn't spook game. Finally, the XT11 has an "assault" bevel, which makes the XT11 a teeny bit better in defensive (or offensive) situations.
