I bought one of these at a local home store about 6 months ago to replace an exhaust fan on-off switch. It was fairly easy to install. Keep in mind that this timer requires four wires: red (hot), black (hot), green (ground), and neutral (white). Older construction might not have the neutral (white) wire. The timer is rather deep, so it took some pushing to get the front of the switch flush with the wall.
The user interface: you press the button to turn start the timer. Each button push moves it to a different setting:
OFF -> 10 minute -> 20 minute -> 30 minute -> 60 minute -> OFF
To put the switch in HOLD mode, you press-and-hold the button for about one second. Note that once you are in the HOLD position the fan will continue to run until you press the button again to turn it off. There is a little LED next to each setting to tell you which timer you are on.
It has worked well since installation.
