I'm pretty disappointed in this. The batteries either don't charge, or won't hold a charge, meaning it only works when plugged in. That right there makes it a 1-star thing, but I'm being generous and giving it two stars because it still works when plugged in and it is a cute nightlight for a toddler.

I didn't want to bother with any hassle of returning it for the bum battery issue... instead, I figured I'd take the opportunity to pull it apart and see what kind of batteries it took. I know, I know... it says they're not serviceable, and they're right. After pulling it apart and getting to the batteries, I discovered that the batteries are probably normal rechargeable (cheap ones), but they're bundled and hard wired or something strange. Definitely not replaceable unless I wanted to go to more effort than it was worth.

Bought this for my daughter when her plug-in nightlight broke. It turns on with a simple push on the top of the mushroom and while it was really bright at first (bright enough to make me second-guess the purchase) it actually isn't that bright at all as time goes by. It's LED so it can be recharged during the day in no time at all. My 2 year old loves going to get her "mush-woom" before bedtime to set it on her dresser.

I bought this from target for my daughters 6th birthday. it is fabulous! You can use it either plugged in or you can charge it up with the plug and remove it to carry around. It doesnt have an exceptionally bright glow, which I personally likeenough to calm the frightened child but not enough to keep them from sleep. it is small, about the size of a grapefruit, and made of s nice soft plastic that is comfortable if the child feels the need to hold it close while in bed. The color is a lot lighter than that pictured, like a rosy peachy orange, whereas the picture to me looks almost a reddish brown. It is SO cute and SO great! I highly reccomend it, and am actually looking for a a different shape of the same brand for my son!
