This is my fourth smith and wesson headlight. The first I used daily for about nine months as a plumber before it finally quit.I got the second one as a backup, but my boss saw how good it worked and told me to get another one, the third replaced the one my boss took, the fourth replaced the first that finally failed after a lot of heavy use. The light is white and super bright. It lasts about two hours on three AAA batteries( I use rechargeable). This light also works great when I go for bike rides and camping.

I've owned a few different brands of headlamps, and the Smith and Wesson is the best headlamp I've owned. I trail ride and sometimes end up in the dark, and the Smith and Wesson headlamp is the only one that I put in my saddlebags to light the trail. I'm looking to buy more.

I have been using a Rayovac Sportsman LED Headlight for my evening walks with our dog. It is a very nice head light, but not super bright...even with it's large (non-LED) lamp in use. Also, the big lamps uses a lot of power. I have been using it for several years with zero trouble. It is VERY well made with a lot thought having gone into the design. Only wish it had a CREE main LED lamp.

So, I bought this S&W (actually PowerTech) 3 watt CREE LED head light. First impression on un-packing is that it is flimsy in construction. Putting the batteries in confirmed this. The little battery polarity sticker was half off for one cell and the compartment does not close with a quality feel. The head band is pretty flimsy, too. Much more flimsy than the Rayovac. I turned the lamp on and went for a walk. The light is VERY bright...much brighter than the Rayovac and with a better pattern. Ther is a very bright central beam and a big/broad circle of light around it. Excellent.

The minuses are that the switch is flaky. Touch the lamp to adjust the elevation and even gently brush the switch and the light goes out momentarally. The switch is VERY touchy. Also, the detents to adjust light elevation are too coarse. I found it hard to get the light shining as I like. It either shown way ahead or near my feet.

I don't think this think will be very durable. I guess S&W/PowerTech agrees as there is NO warranty. None. This would be a good thing to buy from some place like Costco or Sams where there is a forever satisfaction warranty.

Disappointing quality, but a very bright light.

The Smith and Wesson 3 Watt Cree LED Head Lamp stopped working a few months after arrival. Although a replacement was generously provided, the replacement stopped working after a few months as well. Too late to return it now.

This light has been a great help to my husband. He uses it in many situations, especially when he takes care of tower clocks. The light is very bright and it leaves his hands free to work.
