I bought 2 of these for my laundry room. I hooked them together with a EMT conduit so that I could mount one over the existing ceiling box. The threading was 1/2" so it was compatible with all the EMT & flex hardware at Home Depot. I'm not using these outside but if I was, they include the rubber weather seals. The glass globes are also tempered which is a nice touch. They aren't explosion proof like the real industrial fixtures they emulate but those are around $200/ea. So for 1/10 the price I'm very happy with these. I had to look around quite a bit to find them since I didn't know what this type of fixture was called.

I used 3 of these fixtures, attached to each other with conduit to create a custom fixture in my kitchen. They look great. Very sturdily built for something so inexpensive. All were shipped intact...nothing broken. Should be noted that 1/2" conduit and connectors are required to connect them, not 3/4" as noted elsewhere. Really pleased with this purchase.Best Deals for Designers Edge L1706 Outdoor Weatherproof Industrial Ceiling Mount
For years, I lived with a measly, single unhoused bulb in my garage which not only created a cave-like environment but risked bulb breakage when carrying around tall objects. I decided to fix this once and for all with three of these Designers Edge fixtures. These fixtures are rock solid and indestructible. The steel cage protects the thick tempered glass which by itself would be difficult to break. The industrial design nicely complements my tool-filled garage.
I first installed 3 round junction boxes distributed evenly in my ceiling framing. My ceiling is unfinished and these fixtures have screw spacing that is too far apart to mount directly onto round junction boxes. My solution to this was to install 6"W x 24"L plywood to span the ceiling joists and cover the junction boxes. I cut a hole in the plywood to feed the wiring through. The fixtures were then easily mounted onto the plywood.
Now I have 3 x 100 watt bulbs (CFL's work too) in unbreakable housing to illuminate my garage and it is great! I also put in a motion detector switch so I don't even need to turn the lights on or off.
