I've had maxlite bulbs since 2006. They aren't bright, but have a very natural color temp. They are a bit pricey, but I like that they are only 2.2w/hr which means they are excellent for outdoor accent, even security, lighting because they don't glare into neighbors' houses. They just provide a nice presence. They aren't bright enough for fully illuminating outdoor spaces, but do more than enough to add ambient light at night.
We also use them to screw into sconce hallway fixtures. They are terrific for that. I can't comment on the price except to say, they are pretty pricey. But let's face itCFL's look bad and don't last very long and then are toxic waste and can't just be thrown out.
