Instapark YT1008 solar light is 5" x 3.35" in size. When it is mounted on a vertical surface the top part of the light that faces up and the entire surface facing up is the solar panel. This light is both motion and photo sensitive. The light turn on at dusk and shines dimly when noone is around. When the light detects motion it turns on the brighter setting. At the brightest setting Instapark Solar light is not very bright but sufficient to light the area so you can see. After a full day of charging in the sun the light stay on for approximately 6 hours.
To activate the light you need to turn on it with a provided pin by inserting into small hole on the under side (white) of the light. You only need to activate the light once. I suggest you do it before installation as to find a spot where to push inside the light is a little tricky. Just keep poking inside at different angle until it clicks and turns off. The light is water tight and this on/off mechanism provides a way to save the battery when you don't need it operating without compromising the water proof aspect of the light.
The attached video shows a close-up of the light, how to turn it on with a pin, then I turn off the lights so you can see the amount of light it generates after a full charge.
I am also attaching a collage of three photos (they can be located by following 'customer photos' link under the main photo).
Photo #1: show both sides of the light: the top with the solar panel, and the bottom with the light.
Photo #2: shows the lights in the two states: the left light shows the bright state (when motion is detected), and the left light shows the dim state (no motion detected).
Photo #3: shows both lights on bright setting in total darkness. All the light you see is generated by the two solar lights.
I mounted the light on the deck near the rear entrance of the house. The light detected me approaching from any direction (180 degrees) from about 10 feet away. After the movement stopped it went back to dim setting in about 2 minutes.
I received this solar light from Intapark for providing an honest review be it positive or negative. I have no financial interest or business relationship with the manufacturer, and this review represents my independent opinion of the product.
Overall, the light worked well. It detected motion in a good range and turned on to the brighter setting. However it does not light a large area so I recommend using at least a couple of these lights together.

Instapark is well known for their high quality solar panel devices and charging systems and this is a very nicely packaged product that has a lot of benefits and features. It is a solar powered lighting system that contains an internal rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery. Direct sunlight charges the battery so the light requires no wiring to install or use. The unit is easily installed and mounts with two screws. It comes with the mounting screws and two wall anchors if you should want to use them. It also comes with an instruction sheet and a pin that is used to turn the light ON before or after you install it. The light will ship to you set in the OFF position and turning it on is simple, fast and easy. You only have switch the light on once. You simply insert the pin into the unit and press an internal switch and the light comes on.
The light features 16 low power but bright LEDs that remain off during the daytime. At dusk the light comes on in the dim mode and when it senses motion within 10 feet of the light it will switch to the bright mode. When the motion stops the light will go to the dim mode in about 30 seconds. This light is ideal to set up wherever you need additional light for safety or security. It is ideal for putting over doors or entry ways, over sidewalks, on mini barns, poles, alleys, patios or any application where you have adequate sun to charge the light using the solar panel.
The light can detect motion up to about 10 feet away and in my testing it sensed me from 15 feet or more. The detection beam angle of the motion sensor is 180 degrees. The solar panel life is about 5 years and the LEDs have a life of 50,000 hours and do not have to be replaced. The light is designed for outdoor use.
The most critical thing is to make sure that you install the light where it will receive adequate sunlight to charge it and where it will also not be lit up by other lights at night so it will come on. You have to understand that on cloudy or rainy days or when the solar panel is covered with ice or snow it will not be as effective and it may need to be recharged by a bright sunny day. I like that the top of the solar panel bracket is painted black so that sunlight will help quickly melt any ice or snow that may accumulate on top of the light.
I rate this light as a 5 star product for its ease of installation and use and I recommend it to you.
I was supplied with a sample for test and evaluation and I promised to provide a fair and honest review.

These lights only functioned as a motion detector until they were installed. They worked just fine while laying on my work bench upside down, but when they were installed and the sun went down then they just turned on and stayed on until the sun rose again. When it set then they turned on again. However, they do put out a good amount of light in the areas they are meant to cover. They just do not do what I purchased them to do, and since all four of them do it then I know that it is not just one of them that has a problem. There is obviously a design flaw somewhere. If you want a great solar light that does NOT work as a motion detector then this is the light for you.Instapark YT1008 Solar-powered Dusk-to-Dawn Outdoor Motion Sensor LED Light, Weather-proof, Color Black
Honest reviews on Instapark YT1008 Solar-powered Dusk-to-Dawn Outdoor Motion Sensor
I really like these Instapark motion-sensing lights. The toughest part about installing them is screwing them onto the posts or wherever you're going to place them.I have them outside on the shade structure of my house. Although they sit partially shaded under a beam, it is on the south-facing side, which is the sunniest part and what's recommended by the manufacturer for those in the Northern Hemisphere. That's plenty of sunlight to feed the solar panels. At night, even very late before I turn in (1 or 2 AM), my Instapark lights are still on dim when no one's there, and brighter when I walk under them. The motion-sensing capability is pretty good. I have it about 11 ½ feet off the ground and my little cocker spaniel can trigger it.
I do sometimes wish they were a tad brighter. The bright setting is nowhere near as bright as a flood light, but it allows me to see where I'm going so I won't trip.
I'm glad I got these motion-sensing lights. I don't have to plug them in or feed them batteries. Mount it and forget it is the only way to go.
