I bought this a couple days ago for a lady friend who tries to get a walk in every evening after work. Sometimes a neighbor will go with her but sometimes she is by herself and that concerns me a bit. I found this at a local retailer but now I see it is available at Amazon for considerably less. No regrets but if I had more time I would have saved some money even after paying shipping.

The flashlight has a bright white beam that can be focused or adjusted to flood and anywhere in between. It has a single button but it can do more than I expected. One click turns it on and one click turns it off. However, I discovered (by reading the packaging) that two quick clicks puts the light in an energy-saving mode that extends the estimated battery life by over 200%. Three quick clicks will put the light in a blinking mode that could be used to alert drivers that you are on the street or to get attention if you need it for any reason.

I explained to my very kind and compassionate friend that she should be prepared to use the light as a non-lethal weapon and temporarily blind anyone who gets too close. I also explained my theory about the way law enforcement professionals hold a flashlight of this type. I believe they hold it by the head so if necessary they can swing it like a club and not have it slip out of their hand. The large end should act like the lip on the grip end of a baseball bat.

The reason I chose this size 2 C cells is that it should fit her hand and not be so big she will leave it home.

We tested it last night to see how the beam traveled and I was not disappointed. It is brilliant. I have one of the old-school (incandescent bulb) 2 C cell Maglites I keep in my car and it looks like I am going to have to upgrade too. These products (or tools) are made to last so it makes sense to invest in a good one.

And I thought there was no other use for C-Cell batteries! I'm not sure why this Maglite was quite this expensive, but it is certainly a fantastic product
