This is a battery operated (batteries not included, uses 6 x AA) worklight with 18 white LEDs. The LEDs are only on one side of the hex shaped light so it gives out light in one direction only, not in all directions. I find this not to be a problem in most cases. Another reviewer was disappointed with the brightness compared to a fluorescent worklight. It's much less bright but then again it doesn't have to be plugged in.
It's not apparent from the product photo but the light is really 2 separate halves: the lighting part with the LEDs and the battery pack half. Both halves are held together by strong magnets so in normal handling the light is one piece but can be pulled apart (joined by a coiled cable) if you want to separate the two for say working in a confined space. This feature is also great if you want to pretend to be a ninja and use the light as nunchucks, although I don't recommend swinging the light around.
The light half is magnetized all around the body so it will stick to any metal surface. There's also a hanging hook and a twist-out floor stabilizer on the battery pack half (which makes it easier to rest on a floor without the thing falling over). There's also a mounting bracket that the light drops into for storage on a wall etc (which I didn't bother installing).
There are two levels of brightness, if the light is off the 1st button press will turn on at max brightness. The second dims the light somewhat, and the 3rd press turns off.
There is one flaw: if you rest it on the floor the light shines parallel to the floor, you can't tilt or angle the light either up or down. If this could be done this would be much more useful in my opinion.
Still it's a useful light, just don't pay full price for it.

The 18 LEDs gives off a lot of light. The quality of the light is comparable to other LEDs which has slight bluish color on it. For a work light, it needs a little bit more spread. A diffuser on top of the lamps will help this achieve a much better spread.I thought that the built-in stand is too small base on the pic, but it is actually pretty stable plus the fact that it is has a cool retractable feature.
The 2 pieces are held in the middle by 3 strong magnets. They are secured together unless you swing them like a nunchuk. That will most likely break it as the 18 inches cord that ties them together, I am sure will tear it from the solders. Those magnets on the side are pretty strong too to hold screws and nails, nuts and bolts, or just use to secure it to any iron columns or platform. Not bad for around 12 buckies.

Runs off of 6 AA batteries and the amount of light is not impressive. I was expecting that it would be like the fluorescent light tubes (like 13 watt versions in similar form factor). I did like that the casing has magnets in it all around the body which is neat. Has small hook on the top, body that breaks in half with light on top and batteries on bottom connected with a cord between the halves (don't see where this is useful), the bottom has 3 legs that span out so the unit can stand, and includes a holder you can mount on the wall.
