The cover on this unit snaps on and off with a little tab on the bottom. The mount plate you install first is kind of cheap plastic and not well thought out. The outer cover, when snapped into place, is not very secure, wobbles, feels not totally secure. The LED light is bright but far from the newer CREE LEDS. I would rate the illumination not as bright as small night light you put in your bathroom. It needs to have a brighter downlight (key light) and it needs to have the faceplate screwed down to the wall not snapped with a stupid plastic clip (which will probably break in time).

Exactly what I was looking for. Couldn't find a comparable item in stores. They were all cheapies, non-lighted or were incandescent style lights. Was looking for bright wired LED doorbell button and this was perfect. Yes, it can be a little tough to snap back together, but otherwise it is great. Looks good and matches my doorknobs with the Nickel finish. Been hooked up and running non-stop for around a couple of months at the time of this review.

Pros: From the outside, beautifully finished in a brushed nickel appearance, quite attractive. Due to the paddle, it requires little motivation to activate the chimes or bell. The light is ambient enough to let you know, hey, I'm here and to find the right key yet it is not obnoxious or gaudy. From the first appearance out of the packaging it's easy to see it is well designed in principle and well constructed.

Cons: The hook, clip configuration is poorly thought out and does not lead to a positive "snap" connection. After fighting to get the bottom hook engaged, the end product is loose and wobbly. The general construction of this device may be moisture resistant yet it appears to me there was no consideration given to the overall "on the jamb" application in regard to moisture. The terminals for wiring are of the "wrap around the screw" configuration, not the "insert end of wire in jelly filled tube" and will be directly subject to corrision, especially if installed on a south or west facing door. Lastly, the wiring terminals are polarity observant in regard to the led lighting which is not mentioned in the documentation.

An easy "5 star" product if the high price wasn't inversly proportional to the subjection to moisture and flimsy mounting.

Nice size for front door. Lights up the entrance enough to be a night light for finding a key and/or the lock. Nice to be able to see where the doorbell button is when at the front door. It was worth the extra few $s to get a nice looking lighted button.

This was easy for me to install by myself, without any help except for a screwdriver. Literally, loosen and then tighten four screws to install. In case there is any questions about how to use, a lengthy manual was enclosed. It really looks sharp on the door frame, I needed an ultra narrow doorbell button to replace the standard builder ugly plastic button that had turned yellow from the sun. The LED glow is blueish-white, not your usual orange glow.
