Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I have this Energizer LED Pop Up 360 area lantern as well as the Rayovac Sportsman LED battery Lantern SE3DLN.

Brightness The Rayovac is brighter (240 Lumens vs 150) Also the Rayovac light is a square and light shines from the 4 sides. The Energizer light is a panel and light shines from 2 sides.

Weight The Energizer is lighter.

Batteries The Rayovac takes 3 D batteries (not included) the Energizer takes 4 AA batteries which are included

Price they both keep changing daily they run about the same price though

Extra features

The Rayovac has an extra hook underneath. It also has a little light that blinks at you in the dark so that you can find the lantern when the lights go out.

The Energizer has dimmer ability. It can fold up itself so when you are not using it, it takes up less room than the Rayovac.

Cons

The Energizer has a try me feature that you have to disable. This is supposed to be one time only but I have had to do it three times so far in a month. To get to the batteries you need a coin to turn a screw.

The battery lid just twists to open which is great but it is a royal pain to get back on.

I like the way this lantern collapses down to pack, and it puts out lots of bright white light. But, it seems to require batteries that are mostly charged--it simply doesn't work if the batteries start getting a little weak--just flashes a few times and shuts off with weak batteries. I would much rather see the unit dim down gracefully as batteries drain. With this behavior you never know just by turning it on how much more time you have before you must replace or recharge the batteries. In other words, it is bright until it suddenly stops working due to the batteries.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Energizer LED Pop-up 360 Area Lantern is a heaven send. I went through several different lanterns over the past few years and this by far is the best of the lot. The feature I like about it the most is how light and bright it is. I also enjoy how the handle works as well (its also water resistant). You can control the brightness level of the lantern through a few clicks of a button. I'm taking this baby where ever I go (i.e. road trips, camping, blackouts etc..).

If you are looking for light source on your next trip or just want it for around the house then by all means go out and get yourself an Energizer LED pop Up 360 Area Lantern today!

Honest reviews on Energizer LED Pop Up 360 Area Lantern with Light Fusion Technology

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The Energizer LED Pop-up 360 Area Lantern is a compact pop-up lantern weighing only 10.6 ounces. It uses 4 AA batteries (included).

It is a relatively bright 360 degrees of light. However that is 360 degrees around the compass. The light below the lantern may be only about half as bright. Outdoors when I had the light hanging about 6 feet off the ground I could see trees about 30 feet away from the lantern. The light directly below the lantern was less. And when I was walking outdoors with the lantern, I tried to carry the lantern in front of me and I felt that it was effecting my night vision. So I found that I had to carry the lantern behind me so that it didn't reduce my night vision. When I came back indoors it took a bit for my eyes to adjust from the lantern's bright light.

The lantern is also not quite as versatile as I hoped. I did the following tests at full power with fresh batteries. I opened the hood of my car and hung the lantern on the hood. I wanted to see if there would be enough light to perform some repair. The light shining down was marginal, maybe half of the light going out to the sides. For reading a book I found that I had to have to book within about a foot of the lantern to really see the text clearly. This could be a bit tricky because you don't want the light shining into your eyes as you read. And there is some light that comes out when the lantern is closed and turned on. I was hoping that using the light in the closed position would allow it to double as a flashlight. But there is just a small amount of light and not a way to get a focused beam of light. You have to be careful when packing the light that the switch doesn't get accidentally bumped or depressed.

So I'll use the light as a back-up or for emergencies, but not for regular use.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program We got this for use during camping, but knew this compactable lantern would also be great for power outages. I wish I could give this unit four stars, but let us say 3.5 is a good measure.

First, in terms of overall performance, when the lantern's battery is fresh, it throws a healthy amount of light, smoothly and consistantly bright, in all directions. It would be perfect for what we thought it would be perfect for... except that the battery that came with it lasted as long as a campfire song. Then we'd turn it on, and it would turn off within a couple of seconds. We are on our third set of AA batteries and we know that the battery life is not all that long because we have a four year-old son who loves this lantern. He always wants to take it to bed with him, so a true guesstime-ation of battery life is difficult for me to convey. I just know the batch that came with the lantern didn't have much gusto... but I suppose that is to be expected with starter batteries.

I really like how the lantern collapses into itself. It is just a little box when the light section is pushed into the case, and very portable, easy to store in a junk drawer.

The handle is a little flimsy, but it works for such a lightweight lantern. It also allows you to hang the lantern wherever you may.

I do like this lantern, and wish I could have given it another 1/2 star. For $20, it's not a bad price, but I also think it is worth the time to look around for alternative battery-powered lanterns.
