Mounted these for some added illumination for my vehicle in reverse.
Product description states 1.5 watt 7000k (light spectrum).
I do not believe they are as stated. Formost 7000k is a lot higher than halogen and this is in the range of HID light output. It is a bright white light with a ting of blue mixed in it.
Anyways I used these for reverse lamps and mounted them on license plate. I used them as license plate bolts and wired them into my reverse lamps. I tested them one dark night; I unplugged the normal backup lamps on my Exploder and put vehicle in reverse. (Just in reverse and without vehicle running. Just checking the bulbs.....no need for a runaway vehicle without a person behind the wheel....)
Anyways I barely could see any light at about twenty feet behind my vehicle. They are not very bright, at this distance they wouldn't even be legal for illumination of the license plate which is fifty feet in Ohio.
But for the price they are not that bad, you get what you pay for. They do make a excellent license plate bolt I will add.
For license plate bolts these are a solid 5 star review. I had to drill the holes slightly larger for them to fit thru the plate. With the way they are designed with the bolt on the rear, I have no fear of anyone stealing my license plate at all. They are gonna need a wrench and have to go underneath the vehicle to get that plate off.
These lights make great use for license plate bolts. Good theft deterrent for anyone wanting to steal your license plate.
I am giving them four stars for this theft deterrent. They need to list this as a feature.
UPDATE.....
Even though they are not that brightest lights, these lights do have useful applications.
I have been thinking / searching for small lights for a cargo carrier that I occasional use on my hitch.
Even though lights not required (reflective is though) I have been looking on Amazon for some type of application of small lights for added safety. I believe these lights would fit that bill for marker lamps on this cargo carrier in the rear.
Just patch up a makeshift wire harness for a few sets of these for the carrier.
These lights have potential if your creative, they are just not as bright as the description states.Wire leads are very thin. Light is very bright and the mounting style worked great for my project (power wheels car). Worth the cost
