I was in search of a small tactical flashlight that was powered by aa batteries. There are a lot out there and Im glad i purchased this one. This flashlight replaced my old Streamlight stinger on my duty belt. I use this quite a bit at work. It emits a nice white led light, which had bad exp. in the past with LED lights. The tactical switch is momentary and click on/off which is a huge plus. Fits perfectly in both my Bianchi aa light holder and Bianchi 6p case. Very compact and I will be purchasing more for the house/car, camping etc. For 28 bucks this is well worth every penny. With Pelican's warranty and brand name, you would be foolish to pass this up!

Wow have flashlights advanced a bunch in the past 10 years.

I've had a couple of these for 2 years and use them quite often. One I put it my smallest toolkit and use it quite frequently the other I put in my toolbox at the machine shop and it gets beat up.

They are very bright and tough. It's the size of the old mini mag lights, but brighter than the conventional big boy 4 d mag light which is amazing.

I would say there's no better value for under $100 and I don't have a need, nor can't imagine a need for anything over $100.

I have a couple of surefire G2's and a Streamlight Polytac this is much brighter than the surefires and almost as bright as the polytac.

And it runs on AA batteries, rather than the hard to find and expensive 123's. The AA's don't last as long, but cost wise it's probably cheaper to run even if you change them more often, because the batteries are cheaper.

The switch works good, It's made out of aluminum with a pretty tough black finish it has flats to keep it from rolling off a table. I've used it in the rain and the cold and that didn't seem to affect it.

Dislikes none really I guess I could say the knurling on the handle is more cosmetic than useful. For everyday use, it's very good.

I would say it's between this and the polytac for may favorite light. I slightly prefer the plastic of the polytac over the aluminum of this pelican, and the polytac is a bit brighter but this pelican is thinner, uses AA batteries, which is a big plus, and it's cheaper by about $10-20.

Buy one, you won't regret it.

I purchased two of these. The first had a faulty switch. It worked for turning the flashlight on and off, and from hi to low. However, moving the flashlight in my hand would also cause it to go from hi to low, and not return. I made sure the cap was properly tightened. I suspect a bad component in the switch. The second unit did not work at all. Fresh batteries, and no light. I am returning both units for a refund.

I was looking for an inexpensive, bright, sturdy, compact flashlight and I definitely got it. The momentary on function is a plus for me. The flashlight itself feels almost indestructible and I like how the head is an octagon which prevents it from rolling off a table. I'm not a professional flash-light carrier, but I think this is a wonderful product for the money.

Edit: The clip is actually a weak point, to the point of being nearly useless. I tried clipping it to my belt and it just popped off. But for 30 bucks, even with a hardly functional clip I give the light five stars.

I bought these lights along with several others for a Christmas present for my parents. To say the least they work great and are well built.

The lights are made out of solid aluminum construction with a glass lens. Unlike the cheap plastic models these can take quite a bit of abuse with few problems except a few scratches. The light bulb is easy to change and lasts for months. All you do is rotate the hood a quarter turn and change the bulb. Make sure to use a tissue or something of that sort to put in the new light bulb. The oils from your hand and the high heat from the halogen bulbs will make it burn out much faster.

The connections are simple but effective. To metal barbs are forced into the low voltage wiring when you push the two ends of the connectors together. The connection is solid and can be undone easily to remove a light, move it down a few feet, or replacing the light with a new one when the time arises.

In October 2009 I ordered a 300-watt power pack, nine 11-watt landscape lights, and five 20-watt floodlights. I set them up in my newly landscaped backyard and they looked great! But to my dismay within six months the floodlights stopped working. The tiered landscape lights are fine.

I've since tried to solve the problem by calling the customer service line listed in the packaging. But their phone message instructs me to call Malibu, which bought the product line. I called Malibu, but they said they're not responsible to the old product and told me to call Intermatic. I've been on hold for 15 minutes with their customer service line as I write this review.

I've had these for several years. Love the lighting, however I have had to replace these time after time as they last for a very short period of time. The connectors stink and often break as you are trying to reconnect them after they lose their connection with the lead wire. Reconnecting rarely works anyway. Best solution is simply to buy a new one.

These lights have the QUICK FIT adapters that basically allow you to place them close to your wire run and snap them in very quickly. That is my favorite feature.

The 20watt bulb is nice and bright...but not overbearing for your landscape.

If you want the ULTIMATE in spot lights, go find some of the 25 Million Candle Power units available. If this doesn't do it for you, then you truly ARE a flashaholic.

I like the two level brightness feature but really prefer a variable dimmer instead. When the light is on low, I only got half a beam. I don't know if this was because the bulb was still cold, or that's how it runs. I get a full beam on high.

The instructions say to plug the unit in for 20-24 hours to condition the battery, but no more than 36, before your first use. There after, charging should take 16-18 hours. The problem is the instructions say the red light will flash when it charges it never did. I pulled the battery and charged it with my own lead battery charger and it indicated a full charge. Yet, the light never blinks. Either the manual is wrong, or the light doesn't work right. This is bad because there is no auto shut off and over charging a lead battery too long can be damaging, if not dangerous. No trickle charging so it can not be plugged indefinately.

At 7 amps, you might get 45-60 minutes of BRIGHT light on the battery. I suppose you could get a higher amperage battery for longer run times because the charger doesn't know the difference. However, now you have the problem of heat for prolonged periods of time. That's only if your run it to death.

Take this into the darkest room you can find and bring some friends for the "whoa" factor. Shine it straight at the ceiling and turn it on....wow...the room is lit...put on full and WHOA...who turned on the lights? Should be expected as this unit has a bulb of 80 watts.

One of the nice features is the included auto adaptor. Plug into the charge hole to charge it in your car. Plug it into the other hole and run it off any external 12 volt batty. I tried it with a 12v pack I made of 10 NiMh D-cells. This is a great idea so you can run it when you are stationary, but still have a full battery to go mobile. NEVER RUN THE LIGHT WHILE CHARGING!

In all, a great distance and lighting tool. Comes with everything you need including straps, and adjustable legs. Never shine this in the eyes of a person or animal unless it is self defense. At closer distances it is like looking at the sun. Light up your block today!

I really love the look and the sturdiness of this flashlight. It's hefty and gives off a huge bright beam of light. We have used it for hooking up things behind the TV, checking the water softener in the dark corner of the garage...and for quick uses it's fantastic. That's the good news.

The bad news is that the battery lasts about 15 minutes, 20 at the most. You also can't run the light while it's plugged in. There are those times when you aren't in the middle of a power outage, but just want some extra light...no such luck.

I wouldn't recommend it or buy it again. I'd go for something smaller that will last longer.

I bought this flashlight in mid-2005. I used it every so often for feeding my horses and dogs late at night, well after the sun went down, and it worked great to brighten the night. Only after having used this light approximately 5 times, each time for about 5 minutes, the bulb burnt out.

I have yet to find a brick and mortar retail store in my area which carries the halogen bulb and haven't had much luck finding it online either. Aside from this problem, which could be minor or major dependtant on your view, this is a great flashlight and really will light up your yard, home, surrounding property, etc.

The bridge crossing the river connecting to my driveway is .6 miles from my house. I took this outside while it still worked and could see the bridge as clear as day including all the trees around the bridge and even had some reflection from the river water.

THis thing is bright and will cut throgh the darkness. My olny beef is the battery life. keep it charged. I guess you can get aroung the physics. if you want that much light and a power source that isn't a gasoline engine you have to live with a shorter battery life. It will light up the night. they also have a 15 million one as well for a bit more money and a bit more wieght. I found this suits my purposes well and when I used it in the pitch black I could see even the deer in the woods pretty far back. amzing to see they eyes that reflect back at you when you shine this in the forest :-)

DO NOT waste your time or money on this product. Look at the Thor Cyclops 15 million candlepower light currently (July 2009) listed as on sale for $20 more than this product if free super-saver shipping is accepted.

Received this product and returned it the next day. The photo on Amazon matches the photo on the box. The light inside is not the same one. It has a cheap two-position slide switch on the handle (that doesn't even click in place well) in place of the two switches on the left side seen in the photo. It has a single adjustment knob on each side instead of the two shown. The plastic housing is a much softer plastic than my old one. And, the light, even after a 12 hr charge, is nowhere close to as bright as the old one. It does not have the fastened-on rear cover for the battery. It does not have a lead-acid battery in there--it's some type of rechargeable smaller battery that is several pounds lighter than the lead acid battery in my old Thor 10X that I was replacing. Now, by old one was a different brand, but the photo displayed is identical to that one I have owned for over 5 years. I mistakenly ordered two and both were identical, so it wasn't a case of a sneaky buyer returning a different item.

On the plus side, Northern Tool was graciously willing to accept responsibility for the difference and issued a postage paid return label for both.

The only draw back is that you have to remember not to leave it charging for more than 2 hours or the lite could be ruined. It is bright and I leave it in the console for just in case situations.

This bulb seems to be brighter than a standard 60 Watt bulb. The color is different than a standard incandescent bulb, but seems to make things look more of a pure white. If anything they are slightly blue. This bulb is larger than a standard light bulb, so it may not fit in small fixtures. This bulb does get a bit warm when left on for extended periods of time, but remains cool enough that you can hold it in your hands. Like most LED bulbs the light is directional.

I ordered a few different types and wattage of LED bulbs from different manufacturers to try out because I've dropped 2 CFL's over the past 6 months. I have been very happy happy with my Panasonic CFL's the past 5 years, but now that LED's have come into their own I feel that the time is right to make the switch as I'm not a happy camper cleaning up mercury, regardless of how minute the amounts, in my home.

This review is for the 9 watt non-dimmable LED 1020WH bulb.

The color temperature is rated at 5000K to 6500K. I'm not sure why it's rated like that as it's not dimmable, so the color isn't going to change much over the course of it life. I would rate it more like 6500K which is similar to bright midday sunlight on a summers day harsh and very bright white. Ideal for displaying diamonds, jewelry and other objects that look good under this bright white light, but it's just a little too disconcerting for home use in my opinion.

On the other hand women might prefer this bulb in their bathroom because it will both highlight skin blemishes and uneven application of makeup. Warm white, the warm glow of sunrise or sunset, which is about 2700K, is way too yellow for me. I generally prefer home bulbs to be around 4000K, especially for reading, but no higher than 5000K. The quality and uniformity of this light is excellent. Keeping in mind that coverage is quite a bit less than incandescents. Probably about 190 degree forward coverage versus about 300 for the latter. This makes it an ideal candidate for shop displays and photographers who want to mimic outdoor sunlight. But it would be hard to relax at home with such a harsh bright white light.

Brightness is about the same as a 20 watt CFL, and I would rate it close to a 100 watt incandescent. This might be too bright for small rooms, but will be perfect for large rooms and those with high ceilings.

As the other reviews note, this is quite a large bulb approx 3" in diameter. Most standard size bulbs have a diameter of around 2" to 2½".

Please note that this review relies heavily on my earlier review of the same company's smaller 6 watt dimmable bulb Dimmable Standard Screw Base A60 LED Light Bulb 5 Watt Globe, white 1012WH and I have uploaded two pics there which clearly show the differences of the various CFL and LED bulbs that I have bought from Amazon over the years.

This bulb is fairly large in size and it is heavy. One needs to make sure that it will fit in its intended fixture. The bulb is bright (seems much brighter than a 60 watt bulb) and appears to be very well made. I like white bulbs instead of warm white and this one fits the bill. I don't notice any particular color cast. The bulb is somewhat directional and throws less light toward its base. I have three of them in ceiling fixtures and they do a wonderful job.

This bulb is advertised as being over 800 lumen. I just received this bulb and tried it. The lumen output is about 200 at best. my 15w regular bulb is brighter than this LED bulb. I have other LED bulbs ranging from 5w, 7w and 9w. My 5w LED is at least twice as bright as this 9w LED. This is the worst LED bulb I've bought so far and the most expensive lumen to dollar ratio. I'd give it a 0 star if I could.

The bulbs definitely put out some amazingly bright light; however, there are a couple of things to consider:

1-These 9w bulbs are HUGE, and may not fit in many smaller lamps, and ceiling light fixtures, I know because I've tried

2-The design on these bulbs are such that in order to put out the best light, they really need to be pointed down; sideways is ok if you are putting 2 lights in, but again, they may be too big.

3-The BEST use I've found for these is in kitchen recessed light fixtures; lights point down and generate great lighting

I would give 4 or even 5 star rating if the bulb size was small enough to fit all fixtures and the bulb design could allow for more omni-directional lighting

I have this same globe, and it lights one end of my kitchen nicely. This is a very economical way to light a room. The fixture is easy to install and when I ordered from Amazon it literally turned up the next day. My parents had a similar fixture in their kitchen in the 1950s, so there is a lot of sentimentality there.

They do not look like the picture. They are a cheap glass and the "coffee swirl" is neither coffee colored or swirled. They are black lines that do no swirl at all. I returned them. I always read the reviews and sometimes its hard to tell if people just dont like something or there really is a problem, I thought I would be safe with these cause you can buy them from Lowes and such for $50 not so! I do not know if they are rejects or what, but they are not what you think you will get and they surely do not look like the picture!

Buy LEDwholesalers Dimmable PAR38 14 Watt LED Wide Angle Flood Light

We purchased this bulb to test it in a recessed can on an enclosed porch. CFLs do not like cold temperatures, don't dim well, and of course the traditional incandescent bulbs are going the way of the dodos. So maybe LEDs will provide the proverbial light at the end of this tunnel our congress critters made for us.

My "cans" are made for par30s, and I needed a "socket extender" to make this par38 fit, but the light it produces is MUCH more than the par30 LED I tested. Hence it is worth futzing with the socket extenderI am very impressed with the amount of light. The light is much brighter and whiter than the 45 watt incandescent par30 it is replacing. To my eye it is about the color of sunlight, not as yellow as most lighting. The dimming works well, without the change in light color which happens with incandescent bulbs. At minimum on the dimmer the LED light is still producing some light, while the incandescent is completely dark. I don't mind this, but YMMV.

This bulb has a fairly wide angle of illumination, good for recessed lighting and probably good for a floodlight as well. Not sure if it can handle weather though.

The only downside is the cost and the relatively untried technology. I expect the cost to continue to drop, and these "may" be cost-effective, even at $50 a bulb. I have not found the CFLs to live up to the hype in terms of life span, perhaps the LEDs may do better. The estimates raise the philosophical question of why I would want to buy a light bulb that will last longer than my house. They are certainly efficient, but at the rate I am using this bulb (2 or 3 hours, maybe 3 nights a week), it will take me about 100 years to report on the accuracy of the 20,000 to 50,000 hour life expectancy. Stay tuned!

The bottom line is that we like this light a lot.

I purchased three of these Dimmable PAR38 LED Lights because the builder-grade 13o-volt spotlights were dying. I have always suspected that dimmers slowed the rush into filaments and extended the life of the bulbs, so the twelve years I got out of the builder bulbs was sufficient. For regular table lamps, I started replacing 60-wayy bulbs with compact CFL bulbs, but they often don't present enough load for home automation switches, like the traditional X-10 wall warts. Since these dimmers were probably not going to be remotely controlled, I wasn't worried about the load, and I would not expect these to work with that. Your mileage may vary.

My intial impression is very positive. Much sturdier boxes that previous purchases of other brands, and all three bulbs were working when first installed. My previous attempts had a very high DOA rate, so that was a very positive sign. I have these in recessed lighting cans in the second floor ceiling of a two story open floorplan. They sit farther back into the light can than the builder's R38, and I think that's a bit of an advantage. Why? Because they light is very stark in color, very industrial looking color of light. It's like being in the mall or a department store. I find it much more like daylight that the standard bulbs, but full power 16-watts is maybe too bright for most situations. I set the dimmers to 50% and they seemed fine.

The floodlight pattern is very wide. For a light located three feet from the wall, the can frame cuts off the light above the head of a six-foot observer. For a wall six feet away, the can cuts off light just above the top of a standard wall picture hanging. So, the light itself has very wide light distribution a real plus for eight or nine foot ceilings. For higher ceilings, such as hard to reach and majestic "great room" ceilings, you might want a narrower beam.

We'll see if the family adjusts to the pure white color. I'm telling them it's like being outside. I hope that works. These seemed expensive, but if the family adopts, I'll be replacing a bunch more this summer and using these.

My experience is that the actual life span is significantly shorter than advertised. I installed in an indoor ceiling can fixture controlled by an ordinary wall switch (can't blame it on a bad dimmer). It lasted 5 months before completely failing. If you are the gambling type, go ahead and order this item. You might get lucky and get more life out of yours. If you prefer peace of mind, then Home Depot carries some good name-brand LED lamps, and you can return them if they prematurely fail.

As other reviewers here mentioned, these LED bulbs are super bright...daylight bright. Turns night into day! I use these on my motion-sensor system. They exhibit no visible borders (the circular pattern you'd see with spotlights) like the previous halogen bulbs I've used. The spread patterns are wide. Just be aware you're that these are daylight bulbs and you should not be disappointed. Lowes carry several brands (Sylvania's?) of these LED style but cost 10-15 dollars more.

I purchased one of these PAR38 LED flood lights back in April of 2011 to test it out in my back yard. It worked great, and I purchased two more to install out front over my driveway. Those two lights out front are like mini-suns, and light up my whole driveway, as well as part of the adjacent yard. I live on a pretty dark street, and those lights can be seen all the way down the block. What is so great is that they provide as much light as two standard 90-watt PAR38 halogen flood lights, while only consuming 32 watts of power, combined. That is an 83% power savings. The lights also burn much cooler than the halogen lights, so they will last much longer. I expect to recover the money I paid for the bulbs from power savings within about 2-years, and they will continue to deliver savings for several more years after that. I intend to soon replace four other exterior halogen spotlights with the PAR38 LED flood lights, in my quest to change all of the lights in my house (those used more than 2-3 hours per day) to LED lighting. Overall, this is a very solid product, and I highly recommend it.

Depending on how much direct sunlight you can get during the day in the location you are working with, you may get an hour a night, or up to several (maybe 6) hours a night of lighting. The lights are very small, so seem dim compared to normal plug in lights. The strings are also short compared to plug in lights, so you can only cover a small bush with one string.

Hopefully, solar technology will continue to advance and this concept will become even more viable, but for now, if you order, maintain reasonable expectations.

These solar powered lights work great on my new garden arbor. I didn't want cords running across the patio so solar is the best option. They do have a bit of a blue cast, but they remind me of stars, quite pretty. We had three days of rain in a row during the first week we had them up. They weren't shining brightly during the nights following those rainy days, but they still looked nice! No matter the weather they are on all night and go off with the morning light. I have no complaints.

I'm happy with the solar string lights because they are solar however, when lit, the lights look blue rather than white which is fine if you are aware of this which I was not. Also, the lights are tiny. Now that I know the diff. between the looks of these and our electric lights I will purchase them again.

I have a small 3 ft. tree I want illuminated year round. The plug is only 8 or so inches to the first light so you really have to be close to the outlet. Definitely need an extension cord if your placing further than that away from the outlet. I would have preferred a little more length in the cord to plug it directly in without having to use an extension cord. The lights are cool to the touch and a little yellowish because they are warm white. Ok product.

I wanted Z-wave control with speed adjustment for a bedroom ceiling fan. For some reason consumer home automation technologies have overlooked the need for ceiling fan control for years.

Leviton finally has it. The Z-wave control itself works great! The problem is the cheap design of the switch itself. For over $100, I was expecting something much more elegant. It looks a bit like a regular Decora switch stuck in the "on" position. When you press on the lower part of the paddle, it will click to toggle on or off. This brings up the first problem there's an LED indicator BELOW the paddle that tells you whether it's on or off. You can't see it without ducking down. And since it's a toggle button, you really want confirmation a ceiling fan takes a while to spin down.

There are tiny controls on the upper part of the paddle to adjust the fan speed. This is fairly intuitive thanks to the LED indicator. Unfortunately, if you miss the little buttons and press on the upper part of the paddle, the paddle will completely pop out of the switch. I thought I broke it the first time this happened, but it snaps back into place.

It's reminiscent of the old cheap X10 switches. Very disappointing. GE's Z-wave switches are much better, and far less expensive. Unfortunately this is the only game in town for variable speed Z-wave fan control.

It works perfect with ADT pulse home automation. I installed it as the Leviton 1000W dimmer from the drop down list on the control site. Used the HI and Low (left and right) buttons to ADD it to the system...took a minute to include in the system...

Apparently what I thought was a flimsy switch, is a breaker switch to the light bulbs or the fan in that case. when you push the top part of the switch, the bottom comes off breaking the circuit...useless feature if you ask me. I ducked a star for the very high price. I will experiment with other options and cheaper light switches to see if they work and if they do I will let you know..I hope this helps in making a good choice

Needless to say I was super excited to install this Fan Speed Control as soon as it arrived. But disappointment followed soon.

Packaging is simple and it comes with 3 different colors for the switch. Face plate not included.

Wiring is built in. I have installed the GE/Jasco Z wave switches and those don't come wired. But my current manual fan control is already wired so maybe fan controls are always wired.

Installation is fairly easy if you installed Z wave switches before. There is your White Neutral wire and your Power and Load wires and each needs to go with the corresponding wire in your respectable, gets covered by a wire note and viola.

I've done Z wave control on and off with a neutral wire before and this wasn't much different. I do have a manual fan control in place I just wanted a remotely controlled option.

I got excited when I clicked the fan on and it worked. However alas I noticed that the fan only worked on the highest power setting. Switching the control to medium or low resulted in the fan turing off within 1-2 seconds. Now before you go and blame the fan let me remind you that I already have a rotary dial manual fan control installed. And it does a superb job controlling the fan from a very fast rotation to a very slow rotation and everything in between.

I added this control to my ADT pulse using one of the Leviton dimmer settings and it was added successfully. Same problem though. Using a setting between 70%-100% would keep the fan spinning at the maximum rate. Dropping the setting below 70% would have the fan turning off.

I also hooked up this switch to the GE advanced Z wave remote and it synced successfully. But same result. It was an on and off switch. Not a dimmer status.

I deleted the switch from my Z wave network and reseted it to the factory website a couple of times just to be sure that this is not a Z wave network issue still no luck. I reinstalled my original fan control and it was able to control the fan at all different speeds so I know it's not the fan!

I will be returning it and getting a replacement as I feel I have a defective unit. I hope I do have a defective unit as I really would like this setup to work.

The unit itself is well made and sturdy. It looks nice and well featured. Has 2 different LED lights one at the button which is on when the switch is off to enable locating in the dark. The other is below the up-down button to indicate the speed setting. It has the circuit disconnect feature that is available on all Z wave controls and is accomplished by pushing at the top of the switch making the bottom come off slightly. It is nicer than the GE switches. However you press on the bottom of the device for the on/off function as compared to the GE switch which functions closer to a traditional switch.

The higher/lower up/down buttons are small and don't give a good feedback and needless to say again they didn't work for me.

This control is better controlled by a remote than manually given the poor feedback of those buttons and I wouldn't have minded that if it worked.

To be honest I would have given it 5 stars if it worked. and I will change the rating to 5 stars if the replacement works.

I found it hard to give it one star even that it didn't work for me given that it looked really nice and was fairly easy to install. I am hoping for a better luck with the next one and i'll update this post if that happens.

If you need a zwave fan switch, this is really your only option. It works well and does not look bad when mixed with other types of switches. I'm using this in a house filled with Cooper switches. I've found that the fact that it looks different ends up being a plus when it's placed in a multi-gang box since you don't have to guess which switch operates the fan. Do yourself a favor and listen to the advice not to place fan loads on a standard zwave light switch, they make noise and burn out.
