I bought this flashlight for the size and led emitter, it fits very nice on the side of my laptop. Just a little thicker but the same depth which makes for an easy grab out of my laptop case.
I have been using this flashlight for 9 months with 3 1.2V/9000mah (supposedly) NiMH C cells for night time street address finding. There was a little difference in brightness switching to the rechargeable cells. I have seen this light re-branded with the output being rated at 230 lumens using alkaline C's. The rechargeable batteries had to be tapped down a couple of millimeters to get them to fit. The emitter that came with mine was purplish but the beam is bright and tight enough to do the job well. It comes with a glass lens and polished plastic mirror that does not melt even after leaving the light on for an hour standing on the tail-cap. The run-time in this configuration is ridiculously long, in 9 months use it has been recharged once and probably wasn't necessary.
It isn't waterproof but do not worry about using it in the rain or submerging it briefly. The switch is durable and feels good. I believe the die that the emitter is on would readily accommodate a ssc p7 with simple soldering. I thought about it but it works well the way it is.
I'll give it 4/5 because it doesn't have a metal stippled reflector. This would be a best seller if it had a better reflector and an ssc p7.
