I bought this bulb to replace can light bulbs in our kitchen. I wanted something that was as bright as the 525 lumen 50 watt PAR-20 halogen bulbs that we have used for years. I bought two and couldn't be more pleased with the performance so far. The get far less hot than the old halogens (makes sense since they use almost 1/5 of the energy. The old bulbs get so hot that I would have to wait 45 minutes before replacing one when they burned out.
I most please with the light output. It's very white (perhaps just a little whiter than the halogen)in color. They are rated at 500 lumens, but seem brighter than the 525 lumen bulbs they replace. I was very worried the'd seem dim in comparison to the halogens -not at all. Perhaps even a bit brighter. Looking forward to cooler bulbs in the fixtures, long life (rated 50,000 hours), and beautiful white light.

I have two of these in an up facing fixture in my great room. Since most of the light goes up they do not reflect off the TV screen like the CFLs I had in there before. The light they project all the way up two floors to the ceiling looks great. I don't know if I like the pattern of them hitting the long walls or hitting the ceiling better but either way it is quite striking. This type of bulb let you do the kind of lighting magic you can do with halogen bulbs but without the heat and high electricity usage.
