The lights are very white in color (6500K) and the immediate reaction from the students is that the light is indeed very bright. We do not have the ability to precisely determine the exact lumens from the light, but compared to other LED bulbs in this price range, this is notably brighter than the other bulbs.
Although the bulbs are rated at 25 watts according to the listing on Amazon, both bulbs only used 20 watts (each was measured several times with several wattmeters so I feel quite confident about that number).
The bulb is plastic. We did not do any tests on the long-term durability of this bulb, but it would concern me that a continuous 20W source of heat on a plastic frame would eventually cause deformation or failure from overheating. However, this is purely speculation.
The biggest downside to this bulb is the subtle flicker that it gives off. If you have used really cheap LED christmas lights, you may have experienced this phenomenon before. I don't know if it is a 30hz or 60hz or 120hz flicker, but it is very subtle yet noticeable especially if you move your head. May not bother some people, but may bother others. It might not be as bothersome under a lamp shade but we didn't try that. It is worth noting that out of 20 or so different types/brands of LED bulbs we have, this is the only one with noticeable flicker other than our dollar-store christmas LED string.
Probably the best application of this light that I can think of would be in a shop or garage, where you need plenty of light but maybe aren't so concerned about the flicker.
UPDATE: So several months have past since I posted the above review. I decided to put the bulb in my small single-car garage. When I did so, I noticed that (a) the light definitely has a blue tint to it, (b) it is not nearly enough light to light a small garage by itself, and (c) for whatever reason the flicker is no longer noticeable. However, after a few months of extremely light use (only a few hours of total use) the light has died.

I tried using this bulb in an upright torch lamp with an opaque shade. I did not notice any flicker, but the bulb is too bright for a living room. I did not measure the color but I can believe their 6500K claim is accurate. Blinding, even through the shade. I installed it in an outdoor fixture instead. It is noticeably brighter than anything else I could screw into a light socket. If you want the most powerful LED bulb on the market, this one is for you.
