We have a similar setup in the kitchen over the island. I replaced one of the 75 watt halogen bulbs with this supposed 90 watt equivalent. Looking at the workspace on the island, and I'm not exaggerating when I say this, it seems as if there's no light on at all in the center.
I won't return or pitch any of the 20 lamps I just invested in (12 of the 575L and 8 of the 800L CR6s). They will be used in the basement play room, the master bath (where we have incandescent sconces to supplement these) and hallways around the house, but for the kitchen and my office (another 21 can lights) these will never do.
Sad to say the state of this technology is still in its infancy. Do not buy large quantities of these. Try one here and there to see how you like them first.
Original review: I guess I'm guilty of not having done enough homework. To replace the 75 watt bulbs I am comfortable with, the CR6 needs to be the 800L variety. If you need this to illuminate a kitchen counter or desk (recessed lighting in an office, say), you will be disappointed with these relatively dim bulbs. They may suffice for a hallway, but not for a work space.
In terms of color temperature, these are nowhere near as warm as I would like either. I may go back to the 75 watt PAR30S halogen bulbs to get the kind of illumination I really want.
If you want bright light, keep looking.

After using fluorescent bulbs for our recessed lighting for the past 7+ years, these bulbs were a Godsend. The one major factor against the fluorescent bulbs is the time it takes them to warm up to full brightness. These LED bulbs not only turn on to full brightness immediately but they are also dimmable which the fluorescent floods were not. Of course, there is the added advantage of these using about half the energy and lasting about 3.5 times as long.Regarding their appearance, they look fantastic. Whoever came up with this design is a genius. The main problem with an LED flood light up to this point was its appearance and these lights not only take care of that, they actually look better than the standard flood light. Don't be scared away by the extra installation required compared to standard floodlights. It's quite easy and well worth the appearance of the light once it is installed. I'm a tool illiterate and it was no problem for me. After getting the first one in, it is now second nature.
Regarding price, just think of it as 3.5 fluorescent bulbs with the added advantage of not having to replace them for another 20+ years. Also include the energy savings during that time. Although they are expensive light bulbs, you end up saving money and hassle of replacing them over the long term.
After using the first one of these, I'll never buy another bulb for our recessed lighting.

I have previously purchased several different LED lights for recessed fixtures. I had a complaint about each. Either they didn't want to install easily (one never did install) or they took a full second to come on after flipping the switch. Not so with these. They react just like a plain old lightbulb. Turn the switch on they come on instantly. Especially important for the recessed fixture at the top of my basement stairs! Installation is easier than any other I tried. Also, these have a 90% CRI (Color Rendering Index) which is important since 4 of them are in my wife's art studio. You really do want to see the true color of a paint you are mixing. I put 2 in the kitchen where I can compare them to the standard 60 watt recessed bulbs. The light is very slightly whiter than the normal bulbs. I also have an LED fixture at 3000 degrees Kelvin, which is much whiter than a normal bulb. You could put one of these in a group of normal bulbs and hardly notice the difference except on your monthly electric bill.I did my whole basement in these after seeing the first couple, and am very pleased. As always, AMAZON had a sharp price on them and excellent shipping.
