I mostly bought this as an experiment. But I bought this particular model specifically because the description didn't say that it was for incandescents only--which the package does say. I tried a compact fluorescent in it, and it flickered terribly in low light. A few other details (that didn't matter to me, but might to some):

-You can use 150W max only if the fixture is upright or sideways. If it points downward, it's 100W max.

-If the fixture is enclosed, you can't go above 60W.

-The light comes on dimly in low light, then brightens as the surrounding area gets dark.

These are "just OK", the light is not full power when in use and seems dimmer than normal. Probably would spend more money next time for a better quality product.

I was disappointed though to learn that it only works with incandescent lights. I was hoping to use it with the energy efficient lights to save money on electricity as I've installed it in my outdoor front porch light.

The sensor correctly detects the low light level and turns on the bulb, however it then immediately detects the light from the bulb and turns off; this results in a constant flickering followed by the bulb just turning on and off every few seconds. I tried this with more than one type of bulb (incandescent) both inside and outside with the same results. Avoid this product.

Never worked from the first time I tried it. I threw it out and wrote it off as a bad experience.
