I am now regretting purchase this UV flash light. The thing is, it works so well and revealed how terrible my carpet is. Now I am scared of walking on it barefoot!

The flash light is very hight quality with good workmanship. It fels so nice in my hand, the clicking power button is very hice. And bright. I wait until the evening and start shining the light on my carpet, and oh my god! It is amazing what your pets can do when you are not looking.

I am now looking for a professional carpet cleaner.

This dandy little flashlight is true spectrum UV. Others out there are just Purple LEDs: Florescent colors and white should glow if the diodes are correct. I actually use them to spot where to "touch up" paint. Thin areas of color especially with a heavy texture substrates, it is easy to instantly spot where more paint is needed. Assuming you are painting a dark color over white or light color. I have had these for a few months and as a contractor, I am pretty rough on some of my equipment. These have performed well, withstanding a second story drop without incident. Battery life is excellent as expected with led's.

Note: Four out of five for minor issues, see below.

I've been wanting something like this for quite a while now. I'm a science minded individual and fell in love with blacklight when I was little. The only problem with the kind of blacklight I grew up with is that if you wanted portability, you had to use a long extension cord not great for field use. This little bugger fits in a pocket with ease (similar in size to a longish D battery), is made of rugged aluminum, has a nice (although somewhat flakey on mine) Maglite-like pressure switch in the butt end, and is actually surprisingly intense. Even has a nice lanyard for if you need to hold onto it extra carefully or hang it from whatever. The real show starts tonight, but so far I've had great results with it on longwave UV fluorescing materials like grease splatter, tooth plaque, tighty whitey underwear, etc. You should see this thing set off modern strontium aluminate glow powder, OMG... BRIGHT green glow in daylight! I love this thing already, but I will point out a couple of things not so great about it for you:

1) It gets warm pretty fast. This is my first experience with UV LEDs, so I don't know how normal this is, but see #2 for why I'm not so comfy with the fast warming.

2) There is NO driver circuit, near as I can tell. The circuit amounts to a bunch of LEDs driven directly by three AAA batteries. Now I know LEDs are not laser diodes and as such don't need to be babied nearly so carefully, but still... No driver circuit + quick to get warm, and I wonder how long it will last. Also, minor issue, AAA batteries aren't great for mAH ratings with this amount of heat being generated, current consumption must be fairly substantial... Yeah ok I read almost 90mA on my BK Precision 2405A DMM on the 10A setting. Not terrible, BUT, don't expect a lot of runtime. I haven't tried it with NiMH AAAs yet, but I don't expect it to be as high performance. Still, for one, this is the price of such fantastic portability, and for two, NiMH may work reasonably well. Just don't run it for extended periods and bear in mind it's a battery muncher, and it should serve you well.

3) That switch on mine... it's flakey. Sometimes it needs a gentle nudge to work even when it's clicked into the on position. Not a big deal, I've dealt with worse and it's only going to be used now and then so whatever.

General consensus? Big fun in a little package! I can tell I'm going to LOVE this thing. I can't wait to get it out around some road gravel in the dark, to see if I can find some fluorescent geology. It's a pity I didn't have this when I lived in the hills of TN, and had acres upon acres of wild land pocked with bare rock outcroppings to wander around in. I also can't wait to examine my walls and floors tonight after dark, to see what disgusting stains and splatters I will find in my home. Plus, I work in a kitchen, and it should be interesting to see what I find there as well. I'm definitely not disappointed in my purchase, this is going to keep my interest for a long time. :-)

This light is super bright, small & compact, and appears to be of good quality. The box states the light wave is 380-385nm. The body is aluminum, the switch is rubber coated and has a positive click feel similar to a mag light. I purchased it to find urine spots in the carpet and it works great for that. I was even able to see prior spots I thought I had cleaned well.

We have two cats and for a long time life was good. In December we added a new dog to the list and the male cat decided to start marking its territory. After doing an extensive research I decided to get this light versus others. It was LED and UV true spectrum. Of course you have to use it at night, but oh my God... I have to rent a carpet steamer... The light was able to pick up all the spots. So I attest that it is excellent for pet pee detection (on condition of being used at night (dark room) with no other light source). I could also use it around the house to detect leaks.
