Light, compact, single mode (on/off), feels pretty well made and probably not really "waterproof" (no o-rings) but most likely water resistant based on the deeper threading than some lights like this (though most flashlight are resistant to water in some degree.) Not super bright, about 10-15 lumens based on a non scientific side by side test with a known 10 lumen light. More of a tight beam, short distance type of light. Not bad to have for the price and if you lose it or it breaks, well its under 4 bucks. There are other single AA flashlights you can get that have 5 times the power or more, but you could also pay about 5 times the price (or more/less) depending on a number of factors. Not a bad little backup in a pinch. Better than a lot of cheapo hardware store front counter economy flashlights and a bit more compact/lightweight. I wouldn`t want to have to traverse a pitch black night in the woods with it, but it would be better than nothing. Like I said, what do you expect for under 4 bucks?

SINCE IT ONLY TAKES A SINGLE "AAA" BATTERY, WITH A GOOD QUALITY ALKALINE BATTERY IT SHOULD STAY IN OPERABLE CONDITION FOR AT LEAST A GOOD YEAR WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT CHARGING OR CHANGING THE BATTERY. DON'T NEED TO WORRY ABOUT DEAD LIGHT WHEN YOU REALLY NEED IT! KEEP IT AS A BACK-UP TO YOUR REGULAR WORKING LIGHT!

LIGHT OUTPUT IS FAIRLY BRIGHT COMPARED TO THE OLD LAMP VERSION AND LAST MUCH LONGER WITH LED CONSUMING LESS AMPERE (OR JUICE).

AFTER LIGHTLY LUBING THE TWO THREADED AREA WITH VASELINE, IT FEELS MUCH SMOOTHER ASSEMBLING THE LIGHT TOGETHER, IT MIGHT EVEN GIVE SOME MOISTURE PROTECTION, BUT WILL NOT WATERPROOF IT!

i got these more as a battery tester , and because they were inexpensive im happy ........but if these where more $$ ...i dont think id feel this way

This flashlight gets pretty good light from a single AAA battery, and for not a lot of money. You can always spend more, or use more batteries, but if you want something handy and easy to carry around this is it.
