If you suffer from power outage than this light kit is for you. Upon receiving this package. I installed this units right away. I put the ceiling light in our main hallway that branches too all bedrooms. Also I installed the stairway light on our steps to the upstairs. We have a three year old son and a handicapped sister. So when the power goes out. It is important to have good lighting. Just after I installed the units the power went out that same week. They came on immediately and provided excellent light. The ceiling unit I installed in our main hallway shined into the doorway of all bedrooms and into our bathroom. This was excellent. The unit will also work very good for a elderly person if the power ever went out. Also the units have led's bulbs so they use very little battery. They are a excellent choice for emergency lighting.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I really like having emergency lights like this, that are tripped when the power goes out. I mistakenly thought that these had an audible alarm, but they don't. It's just a light that comes on when the power goes out. This kit comes with 1 remote control/flashlight and 1 stair light, and 1 ceiling light. Set up is very simple. Just pop in the included rechargeable battery into the remote control, and then add C and AA batteries into the stair and ceiling lights respectively. The ceiling light actually gets pretty heavy once you put the 4 C batteries into it. I could imagine this hurting, if you didn't mount it properly and it fell on your head. I'm also not fond of batteries NOT being included with things. (In this case, the C and AA's.) I'd rather have some cheap no name battery included, than nothing at all. But the system works pretty well. Just plug in the remote control unit, and then when the power goes out, or you pull the remote out of the wall socket, the 2 battery operated light units come on instantly and automatically. They also go back out again, when the power comes on. Or you plug the remote back into the wall. The range is a little questionable. I put 1 of the light units in the garage, and had to fiddle with the location so that it would get the signal from the remote unit. But once I found the sweet spot, all seemed to work smoothly. One good thing about the remote, is it doesn't hog so much outlet space that you can still use the other outlets for something else. The remote also feels good in the hand, and is well laid out. Everything is self-explanatory, and I was up and running in 10 minutes, tops, without reading any of the instructions. I got a 2nd remote and decided to sync each remote with one of the light units. Changing the frequency to match the second remote was as simple as flipping a tiny switch. Overall, this is a good emergency power outage system. Though it is a tad pricey. Oh, and don't let the pics fool you -no one is going to read a book by this dim lighting. This will just keep you from bumping into things in the dark during an outage. You certainly won't be cooking dinner or anything significant. But as a temporary safety and emergency light, it works well enough.
