Out of the box It is bright enough (brighter than the bulb with green stripe), its sense range is good to not bad at all but all in a downward directional patternl, and it runs cool... but it only stays on for 30 sec and its off. I could live with 2-3 min on time but that 30 sec "on time" was beyond annoying and made the lamp useless UNTIL.. I discovered that if you pop its little motion detector cover off... the light stays on... Since I was replacing a very dim 4 LED light (with a base that got way to hot to go in a globe) I'm pretty happy this brighter light uses less power, then stays on and runs cool to slightly warm with that detector dome cover off. Knowing it will stay full on (and cooler) I put the lamp fixture's globe back on... It makes a nice defused glow that way. Until I noticed using it wrong made it useful to me I was about to say I don't like it with 2 stars... If that always on trick is an option it may be in the instructions I did not get. The detectot cap on this light is soft plastic and a snap to pop on/off. I would call this light a very low wattage super bright night light, good for a hallway, bathroom or over a sink. This bulb is bright. I ordered a few of these for my closets and the hallway. Bright enough to light up stuff you want to see. Recommended.
