This light is ok, but there are better options. I purchased 3 different solar motion-sensor lights to see which one worked best for me. I installed them on my gutters over and around my front porch and walkway. This light does not seem weather-tight at all and I'm afraid it won't last long. It doesn't hold its charge well either -approx 6 hours after a bright day and only about 3 after a dreary day. I like the installation clip on this light, but both Frostfire and TSSS solar motion sensor lights worked much better than this one. They were about $5 more but well worth the difference, and they both had much brighter and longer-lasting light. Unless you have a very bright and protected area which needs this round light, I would go with another option.

I have a cabin in a remote area of NE Minn, off the grid. I purchased this light hoping it would provide a little light outside the outhouse at night. Does the job very nicely. Provides a soft glow, rather than a bright light, but works just fine for what I need. You will not be able to read by it, but it will give you plenty of light for safe footing in about a 10-15 foot radius.Best Deals for Pine Top 511-0028 Plastic Solar Utility Light, White Finish
I purchased three of these to put on the gutter on the side of the detached garage for some lighting along the sidewalk. They are nice in that they install easily and nicely blend right in with the gutter. They are not very bright even after charging on a very sunny day and where they are they get at least 6+ hours of direct sunlight. However, I didn't expect them to be flood lights and they add a nice touch to the yard at night. There is enough light from the one above the door that I can see to put my keys in the lock. They work well enough for what they are. I would give these 3.5 to 4 stars.UPDATE: I just wanted to add that these have been going strong since installation about 6 months ago, they charge up every day and so far have lasted longer than a lot of other solar lights available.
UPDATE June 2013: These are still working after 14 months and they are still using the original solar batteries! Changing this review to 4 stars!

It was a very scary experience to be completely powerless for two weeks as a result of the Sandy superstorm, totally in the dark both inside and outside your house. We had always left a protective outside light on and were worried, then while flipping through a catalog I discovered these Pine Top solar utility lights (particularly made for gutters) and ordered several of them. As advertised, they do illuminate your outside home very nicely, though I would advise spacing a few about 3 ft. apart to really see well. Each takes two rechargeable AA batteries (included, replacements available here on Amazon under "solar batteries"), and comes with an over-or-under curved clamp & hook that attaches with a small screw, easy to put together. They don't only cling to gutters, but anything with a flat side to it I also put a couple on each side of a garden hose holder that was near my side door, facing outward so you could see the walkway and doorknob. Important note: the batteries included were NIMH which had a very short light span, only a couple hours. When replaced with NICD (cadmium) rechargeable solar batteries, they last hours longer, often truly dusk to dawn as advertised.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Pine Top 511-0028 Plastic Solar Utility Light, White Finish
This is a very cool solar light. It is NOT a flood light; you will NOT be able to work under the glow this light produces.I needed a light source on the side of my home where there was no light at all. However, my neighbors house is a mere 10-15 feet from mine, with windows facing me. I did not want anything that would blind someone looking out their window. This was the perfect solution. It was very easy to attach to my gutter, once I was able to unclutter the garage to get to my ladder :) It produces a very soft light, think of a 3 way lamp on the lowest setting. It's just enough for me to see my dogs and the water faucet, and it spreads across a decent area. Straight out of the box, it turned on at dusk. After a full days charge, it produces light for at least 4 hours (I haven't stayed up late enough to see how much longer it might stay on).
This was so easy to install, produces a wonderful soft light source, and looks great. Even my neighbors have asked for the link to order these lights. I'll be purchasing a couple more to put on the other side of my house and over the garage doors.
