these lanterns are pretty decent. i've noticed they are much brighter now that the sun is out longer to charge them. my only beef is that when it rains a lot the rain gets into them and they don't work.i wouldn't use these as the main source of light but for a little decorative touch they are perfect. i have some clipped to the patio umbrella and some others hanging on the posts on the deck. i'm not blown away by these but they do the job and other than the rain issue i haven't had any problems with them.Best Deals for Smart Solar 3782WRM2 Black Umbrella Hanging Solar Lantern, 2-Pack
I purchased 10 of these in total to hang across the edge of the roof on my house over my back deck. It creates a nice "moonlight" effect. Certainly is not enough light to read or do anything....but it's never super dark there...which is what I wanted. They last well into the night. They come with hanging loops and clip hooks. I just hung them right on the gutter. I think they're pretty decent. I don't expect them to last more than a year or two though.Honest reviews on Smart Solar 3782WRM2 Black Umbrella Hanging Solar Lantern, 2-Pack
I bought 10 packages of these lights to place on my 20 variably-sized concrete steps that had absolutely no light source. I live in the lower level of my mother's house as her caretaker, and wanted something that would cast enough light for people to see where each step ended and the next started. I also didn't want the hassle of sticking stakes into the horribly hard ground we've got, nor was I sure how to place those due to the variability of the steps and the surrounding ground; some staked lights would end up lower in height than the step itself and I thought they'd look kind of...stupid, LOL!I haven't had them long enough to know about durability but...I don't plan on leaving them outside in the elements (I'm in Northern California and we get no rain for months on end), and I really just plan on using them when I'm expecting people to come over, bringing them inside and turning them off when not in use, or leaving just a few out for looks.
No, they don't cast a ton of light. But I placed them on the edge of each step to show where the one ended and the next started, and they're perfect. They cast just enough light so that people won't fall down the steps, which range from 2 feet to 4 feet long. I kind of wish I'd gotten a few more to continue lighting the few more steps that continue past the door to the porch, and I'll likely buy some.
I let them charge for two days in the sun, off, as directed and turned them on for the first time last night. They lasted all night long, and are seriously gorgeous on my steps. I love the pattern cast by the lantern.
For my purposes, they're perfect.
