This is an inspection light and is a relatively focused light. Don't buy this light if you are looking for something that will light up your whole engine bay. It is very nice for repairs requiring focused light.
The top of the light is a hook but I wish this item had a magnetic base to more versatile mounting.

I did a lot of research before choosing this light and I am quite pleased with my decision after inspecting it firsthand. It is made in china but it has been "designed in Germany" according to the package and I have no reason to doubt that based on the attention to detail. The cord is longer than I need and made out of that high grade rubber that smells like new tennis shoes. It seems fairly spill resistant too, with a fully concealed switch and gasketed lens. Note that the light is slightly more focused than some people may prefer or than an incandescent or fluorescent light could provide.
