I purchased the Lighting Ever 7w led bulb to solve a difficult problem. I am disabled and have a light fixture in our basement hallway that is difficult to change. I thought that a bulb that is expected to last for 18 years, which they state on the package, would solve my problem. I had my son in law put it in and it worked great for two weeks then burnt out. I emailed a complaint to Lighting Ever and they emailed back that my complaint is with the distributor. Any company that doesn't stand behind they're product will not get my business again.

[Update on Aug 15, 2012]:

My original review on this LED light bulb was favorable (4-star). However, the bulb died within two weeks after running it continuously in a floor lamp with open-air circulation. Although Amazon product description claims: "90 days money back guarantee", the LightingEver web site says "30-Day Return Policy" and "15% Restocking Fees". I have now downgraded the product rating to 1-star.

LED technology itself is supposed to be highly reliable. The problem is with the LED driver circuit and thermal dissipation. Cheap LED bulbs are more likely built with sub-standard components that can fail under thermal stress. That's what happens to the Lighting EVER bulb. I suggest people who bought this bulb should put it through a 'burn-in' test. That is, keep the bulb burning 24 hours a day for a few weeks. Hopefully, this will catch any bulb with early-failure mode before the end of Amazon's 30-day return period.

[Update on Jan 2, 2013]

I opened the dead LED bulb, and found a busted polymer capacitor (probably due to overheating). I also discovered that this bulb has no power regulation at all. There are just 60 tiny LEDs driven directly from rectified AC input. A small increase in AC voltage could cause the LED current to increase rapidly and induce a thermal run-away. I will stay away from all Lighting EVER products for EVER.

The first thing I noticed about this Lighting EVER 7 Watt A19 LED Light Bulb is that it has an unusual heat sink design. The body of a typical LED bulb is made of an aluminum heat sink with fins. This bulb, however, has a ceramic heat sink. The white heat sink looks cool, and seems to work just as well as ordinary aluminum heat sinks. It also has the psychological benefit of being safer, since ceramic is electrically non-conductive.

The power of this bulb, according to my Kill-A-Watt Electricity Usage Monitor, is about 7.5W (the power reading toggles between 7W and 8W on the display). Its Power Factor is only 0.62, which is not so good. (Lower power factor means more power is wasted in the transmission of energy)

In side-by-side comparison with three other LED bulbs (see photos I unloaded to 'Customer Images' section), the Lighting EVER LED bulb appears to have the same brightness as other bulbs in the 7-watt, 500-lumen range. Its color temperature is right between that of LG LED Bulb and Filite LED Bulb. So I can believe its luminosity rating of '500 lumens' and color temperature of '3000K' to be accurate.

One surprise finding: When all four LED bulbs were turned on by the same switch, the Lighting EVER bulb came up immediately. The LG bulb had maybe a 1/4 second delay, while the two Filite bulbs took one full second to light up.

On the other hand, it is misleading to call this 500-lumen LED bulb a "60W Incandescent Bulb Replacement", because the latter actually generates about 850 lumens of light output. The tricky part is that: the beam from this (and most other) LED bulb is concentrated in the forward direction. So when you look at the bulb from in front, it appears as bright as a 60W incandescent bulb. But when viewed from the side, it becomes much dimmer. That means this bulb works best in a recessed light fixture shinning down, but not good for upward-facing position in a chandelier or floor lamp.

Overall, this inexpensive LED bulb performed better than I have expected. But I have to minus one star for its deceptive claim of "60W Equivalent".

WARNING! DO NOT BUY THESE BULBS..!!!!

Short review to say I was impressed with how substantial the bulb felt in my hands when I opened the box. I bought 4 for my kitchen. The previous owner had CFL and they looked so wrong in the cans lol. Anyway after I installed the bulbs i was really impressed with how bright they were compared to CFL. They are in overhead cans directing down from a high ceiling. What an immediate difference, plus instant on. I will order more. I ordered only for rooms where i use the lights a lot.

Also i ought this through Amazon as I trust their delivery and refund policies. Go Amazon lol

In any case I will followup later after I have had these for awhile.

So far I am impressed. MPC

UPDATE!! I have ordered 10 of these and so far I have 6 either not work out of box, go out in minutes or days later. I live in fairly new home and NONE of my other past bulbs did this. I DO NOT RECOMMEND these bulbs. Now i have all the hassle of boxing up and sending these crap bulbs back.

I was so excited when I first got them. What a waste of money and time

UPDATE: I am down to only two bulbs working and what junk! What complete wste of time and money! WARNING! DO NOT BUY THESE BULBS..

Honest reviews on Lighting EVER 7 Watt A19 LED Light Bulbs, 60W Incandescent Bulb

I bought this bulb to use in a light fixture that is up high and it is difficult to replace bulbs in it. I only bought one because I wanted to see how it would look and how much light it produced. The light output and the color matched that of the incandescent 60 watt bulbs in the fixture, so I was planning to buy more of these. However it stopped working after less than an hour of usage. Unfortunately I didn't get the bulb installed until after the 30 day Amazon return period had expired. I wish I had read the reviews before buying the bulb because almost half of the reviewers had a similar experience. Amazon should stop selling this bulb as it is obviously defective.

Had it for less than 10 months in an area that got little to no use. At most, light was on, three days a week, for no more than two three hours. So stated thousands of hours of life is just not true!
